  • JW Why is the ambulance this big?

  • Whats the stretcher lift like on this one?? My back hurts just looking at it!

  • @bzwolman LOL That one made me smile!! The box lowered on it so people didn't have to throw a disc out of alignment when loading patients. They have since removed this ambo from service. The new one is smaller!

  • nice to see more wisconsinites on here

  • Does that thing have an operating suite and helipad too?

  • how many calls u get a year? in mount horeb

  • @Firefighter72BG I'm not on Mount Horeb. Just taken their video thats all.

  • -_- only in mount horeb will you find the most unusual of fire truck vehicals and only in mount horeb will you find the firetrucks that could win at a show off contest i dont care if that one firetruck pulled a wheelee these really have a lot of work in them also if thats a ambulance i wanna see their batallion car if they have one

  • @theojer87 I'll have to search, but I know they have a car for responses. Try the FDMH website. I think it's in there.

  • Try the best ambulance ever.

  • That's an ambulance? Where do they get the money for these extravagant apparatus?

  • I love it i use to work for a company in Indiana that did medical transports and we have 911 contracts with a few towns.... This would have been an awesome rig for suck a thing...

  • The one and only "Heavy" duty ambulance, ha.

  • @DKruse88 no actually Cambridge Mass. has one similar to that its on Youtube and it has i think Spartan or Smeal chassis but check it out type in Cambridge Rescue 1 Responding it has an ambo back side

  • @JKSK8ERLIVE For the first 25 seconds I was thinking "this guy's on crack... that's an engine" then it pulled out of the house... haha. I stand corrected, it's one of two "Heavy" duty ambulances known to me :) ( I guess a guy posted on that video saying only three were made, but one burned up in an electrical fire). Thanks for the info.

  • @JKSK8ERLIVE I'm with DKruse88 on this one......Huh. I wasn't expecting that. Good to know that there are more out there though.

  • This thing is now for sale on firetrucksplus!

  • if thats an ambulance, why is it called a rescue???

  • Um... If that is a Medic Unit, I hate to see what a Rescue looks like.

  • That's an ambulance????????????

  • what! thats an ambulance?! i thought it was heavy rescue

  • While their color scheme is not high visibility, it is probably the classiest color scheme I have seen. I NEVER would have guess that was an ambulance, looked almost like a European length firetruck.

Regarding their vehicles, they remind me the occasional semi you see on the interstate where the owner / operator seemingly spent all his profit on lights, chrome & a custom paint job.

  • so its an ambulance

  • for the love of god thats huge. does it get about 3 gallons to the mile lol. I jsut dont see how anyone can justify a trucks like that

  • Don´t tell me that monster is an Ambulance?!

  • yep, that's their ambo.

  • I've said it before, this FD must have BUCKETS of money. How may fire and EMS runs does this FD do each year? All of their units seems like overkill. But WTF, if you have the budget, why not, I guess. STAY SAFE!

  • Supposedly 350 fire calls and around 600 EMS calls a year. Thats what a FDMH member told me the other day

  • Thanks. STAY SAFE!

  • Holy god lol ive seen other videos of this FD and they have BEASTLY fire trucks!!!! its AWESOME lol

  • What is in the rear of this big rig? Is there normal things that are on a "normal" ambo or are there bigger better things?

  • Normal Ambo things, but the cab can seat 6. Good for safety on the way to calls and home I suppose, so people can have a normal seat and be more apt to wear a seatbelt.

  • its an ambo. there are seatbelts in the back. why is there 4 people riding out on the ambulance anyways? 2 in the back is plenty MAYBE 3 if your workin a code

  • deadly

  • I think it's VERY safe to say this is the largest 'everyday' ambulance in the country. There are larger EMS units - but those are held in reserve for Mass Casualty Incidents and the like. I looked at their other apparatus, and this seems like a department with A LOT of extra money. Wish I had their budget!

  • haha i still can't belive this is an ambulance! too bad they didn't put 4 Q's like thier hevy rescue

  • Its not 4 Q's, its only 2. The ones in the bumper are just Q face plates on 2 100 watt speakers.

  • @fdny448 I was just about to comment that this is the only apparatus in their fleet that isn't overkill, think this was a rescue. But after reading your comment I retract that comment.

  • there squads look like the chicago squads

  • With the exception that this is an ambulance, but yeah, I do see that.

  • @LADDERTRUCK53 yeah they it does look like Chicago FD Squad company

  • is this that really an Abo or is it a rescue that does transports?

  • It is really an ambulance. The dept. has a heavy rescue. This truck is only an ambo.

  • Yea, and their Heavy Rescue has a pump and water tank on it. I think that the tank is 300 gallon and i don't know about what gpm the pump mis, that thins is MASSIVE!

  • I recall their Heavy Rescue having 1000 gallons of water

  • Yeah, they get alot of money. I had the chief of their department as my lead instructor for the academy and he for some reason feels the need to have big trucks. Most of their apparatus are based off of semi frames. But Engine 1 up in Defo is still larger than all of their trucks.

  • Pretty close, but there are also the Bus ambulances for mass casualty incidents. I would say it's the biggest for a small municipality.

  • Believe it or not, yes. The department recieved a donation. The terms of the donation dictated the truck they would use as an ambulance. As anybody would, they took the free money. This is what I heard. If anyone has corrections please post.

  • is Rescue 40 an ambo?
