Other than the retarded 'Subtle Sexuality' webisodes, which managed to highlight the worst qualities in Kelly, Erin and Ryan, I don't hate any of them. Yes, Kelly is annoying and chirpy and small-minded. That's kind of the point. She (the real person) is a writer, I think she must be a lot smarter than her character. Same with almost all of them. It's not easy to play the fool.

I TOTALLY AGREE! like i missed it when it was like season 2 where it didn't matter what order you watched the episodes. It sorta let you focus on the funny stuff more. I think there is still great subtle humor in the show IF you look for it. But they've kinda tried to broaden their audience. although it's annoying cause i know kids who just laugh at the obvious stuff and never get the subtle things.

And season 3-4 just happens to be when the Office got really really good. Subtle humor sucks because it's boring. Direct humor is good, but only when it's well written. And the Office is VERY well written.

no doubt 3 was the second best season next to season 2 (IMO) and 4 would have been right up there if it wasnt for that writers stike but like you said direct humor must be very well written which is why the office has not been up to par lately,most of the writers from seasons 2,3,and 4 are gone and the new writers havent matched them yet
