  • I even realized that after a few rows I don't need to count anymore :) Needless to say...I LOVE THIS!!!!!

  • Woo Hoo!!! I got it!! THANK YOU SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much for doing this video. I NEVER thought that making a reversible blanket would be so easy. I got lost the first time I tried it, but then I got it!! You made this so EASY to learn, I am SUPER excited and can't wait to make a reversible blanket!! Thanks again!! :)

  • Is there a way to make a reversible crochet ski cap? I found I pattern for a reversible hat, and was going to try to figure it out, but the pattern is poorly written, and I don't really understand it.

    Thank you so much!

  • Is there a written pattern for this stitch.

  • I've joined the ends and go back and forth to create a headband/hat - but can't for the life of me figure out how to decrease on this stitch. One colour goes, then when alternating to the other colour it just doesn't match up anymore. Ahhh it's driving me crazy! Help?

  • Is it possible to do one type of stitch (like a shell) on one side and something else on the other?

  • Thanks for the tutorial, Teresa! I knew the stitch, used it with one colour only to make the soles for slippers, but it never occurred do me to it this way. Watched the video last night, and since i am working on a pair of slippers for a friend, it must have matured over night and after some fiddling and fumbling this morning, I took it a step further and now have soles that are striped in 2 colours on one side and a different solid colour on the other :D thanks again!

  • is there any specific way to do the last row so that there isnt a "half" of a row sticking up? maybe going through the front and back loops of one side AND the remaining back loop of the other side? (i dont know if i'm being clear enough)

  • @JTVAL08 --May I suggest that you join the two edges with a slip stitch or sc together the two edges.

  • Could this stitch be manipulated into a hat? if so could you consider doing a tutorial on it?

  • Can you show this stitch using a shell afghan pattern?

  • i can't wait to try this out for a blanket. Two colors for our favorite sports team!

  • I have made two of these and am just starting a third. The way I was taught, you make a loop (and tail) at each end which makes a nice fringe. I'm remembering how to tie off the end fringe but not remembering how to start a row with the loop. Darn...it was like a slip knot only ended up being three strands of yarn at the end of each row for fringe. Nice edging!

  • @NancyReid Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

  • That looks terribly tedious...

  • can u make a video on how to make a purse i never figured it out

  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO THIS IN DOUBLE CROCHET?

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE TAILS?

HOW MANY CHAINS DO YOU RECOMMEND TO MAKE AN ADULT BLANKET?

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR WONDERFUL GIFT!!

  • @GLENNIEPIE Anywhere from 175-250 would make a nice size adult afghan. You can work it the same with double crochet.

  • @GLENNIEPIE I weave all the tails between the stitches.

  • Thank you for this tutorial! It's very helpful! Will this pattern work in a round? I was wanting to make a reversible hat for a friend without making two hats and stitching them together- Any ideas or tips?

  • great , thanks

  • how do you get rid of the strings in the sides?

  • perfect...(:

  • Fantastic thanks Teresa, great for two colors, enjoy your day :)

  • great ... again. you are so cool

  • Is it possible to use this for a blanket?

  • I think it would make a great blanket. It may take some time but it would be well worth the effort and work put in to it.

  • Woow Teresa

I didn't know you could do such a stitch/pattern in crochet... you are adding to my repertoire... thank you so very much... OOroo... Bethel

  • You are welcome. There is an infinite amount of crochet stitches that can be done.

  • It seems as though you could do this with any size stitch. Just a question, is there any type of special edging or anything that needs to be done with this to finish it?

  • You could do any edging one it is complete. I would join the two color together on the final row upon completion, joining the loops of each stitch instead of setting it up for another row.

  • It seems as though you could use this technique with any size stitch.

  • Yes you can you different size stitches. Thank you for mentioning this in your comment.

  • As usual always creative! :) I think this would go pretty nice if used in a shrug pattern, but may need to do some type of trim around the whole thing first before you sew together the arms. Okay off to find what a Front Double Crochet is. i know you mush have it somewhere in your videos! :)

  • There are a couple stitches you could be referring to. There is a front post double crochet OR crochet in the front loop only.

  • Brilliant as ever! You never cease to amaze me with these wonderful stitches! I can't wait to try it out. :[) Thank you.

  • You are welcome. :)

  • You should post a pattern where you use this stitch technique, so we can get the hang of it. I can't really think of something where I would need this off the top of my head.

Also, you used an even number of stitches. I'm thinking it would be just as easy with an odd number. Am I right?

  • You can use cotton yarn for a potholder or acrylic yarn and a larger size crochet hook to make an afghan. It would also make a pretty rug. You can make your chain any length you want to. I am working on a potholder with 30 stitches. I started with 31 chains.

  • hi teresa,

i came across your various demonstrations in less than a week ago when i joined youtube, and since then i have learned more from you than from the 20 crotchet books i have purchased.

thanks for sharing your knowledge with th rest of us.

  • You are welcome. It is good to hear you are learning to crochet now.

  • You provide easy-to-follow yet awesome directions! I've seen something similar in a reversible, double-sided, baby afghan using the shell stitch. It's beautiful, just as this is. Once again, you are a wonderful and patient instructor. Thank you for your tutelage.

  • You are welcome. I have been running other stitches through my head where this technique may apply. Thank you for the comment, I appreciate it.

  • Great tute Teresa! Would it work if you carried the color you're not using along the stitches, rather than cutting the color off at each end? Or would it mess up the two-sided look?

Thanks for the videos! God Bless!

  • It will make it a lot thicker. I tried carrying the yarn and found I like cutting instead. You should go ahead and carry the yarn if you choose to since it will work.

  • This is GENIUS. I was sure you needed a doubled ended hook for this.

  • There is not much about this stitch at all. It would be interesting to know the history of some of these crochet stitches. Until I started this channel, I did not realize that Crochet was fading fast. I do know that a lot of crochet was passed along from mothers to daughters through memory. I have since learned, a lot of the crocheters did not know how to read instructions. It was not necessary back then when they had mom and grandma close by.

  • thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to do this tutorial. I would have never understood the written instructions I had seen before!

  • You are welcome. Does it make more sense now?

  • Absolutely! It's a lot more involved than most crochet stitches, but your tutorial made it much easier to understand.

  • rofl you sed insert into the backside xD anyways great i love this ima try pink and black

  • Pink and black will be very pretty. Please share an image on my Facebook page when you are finished.

  • Teresa, once again you present a wonderful tutorial. I am so glad to be a subscriber. I have 2 questions. Are you gonna show us how to get the ends tucked in? And, would this be a good pattern to use for a double sided pot holder using cotton yarn?

  • Thank you. The tails will be sewn in the same as any tail is sewn in. I can do a part 2 sewing in tails. Cotton is fantastic. I am currently working on a potholder myself with cotton yarn using a size I/5.5mm crochet hook. This will make a great potholder. You can also make an afghan with a large crochet hook. I was using a size N/9mm hook in the video. I would not recommend much smaller if you are making an afghan with 4 ply yarn.
