@sebastiansteele1994 its based on it. The Klone Centurion is based on the Mxr overdrive pro. As you know the Klone has a Voltage pump that doubles the voltage from 9v to 18v, which yields to more headroom. I believe the MXR od820 also does that. great Clean, Great Distorted. Thefinetely in my top 5 OverDrive Pedals. The Klone is too pricey if you find one. This MXR is worth every pennie
you just gotta get the right boss pedal. Anything with "Metal" in its name probably sucks. THeir current line of chorus/ phasers totally suck. The TR-2 tremolo is great, totally warm. the SD-1 overdrive and OD3 is great overdrive. SOmetimes I prefer my SD-1 over my Analogman TS-9. And of course any of boss's older anaog pedals from the 80s/70s are good. Just gotta dig when looking for equipment. Go to pawn shops, Ma and Pa music stores, Ebay.
@PopExpo Humm well as much as i hate the Metal Zone, the boss HM-2 from the 80's is an awesome pedal, its the secret of the Swedish death metal tone and interact really well with other OD pedals!! try thoses pedals before saying shit on the internet!
I had this pedal a couple years ago and I liked it alot , got my pedals ripped off so I don't gotti no more . I use a Nobels ODR-1 now and I highly recommend it as well
Have used in the last couple years ....TS808 Keeley mod , TS9 Keeley mod baked, Fulltone OCD and Robin Trower overdrive......I would take the OD820 over the rest...but will make a TS-5 work if needed....Peace thru superior overdrive
To whoever asked before (can't find the comment now), yeah, Maxon made pedals first. Ibanez came in later, wanted some pedals manufactured, and got Maxon to build them for them. That's why the old Ibby and Maxon pedals look pretty much identical.
I guess it depends on the pedal and who manufactures it. Boss pedals always sound really good. But I saw this one pedal that was like a Fuzz face on ACID! It was one of the smallest pedals you can buy.
@JIMMYJIBLETS I don't find this to be true of all or even most of their pedals. SD-1, SD-2, DD-7, DM-2 = no tone suck. The DD-7 in particular has a very good buffer and is one of the best stompbox sized digital delays on the market. The only close competitor I'm aware of in this size is the Deep Blue Delay (which I also have).
kebekoi66. most of your tone comes frome your fingers, then your amp rig. then your pedals come in to smooth out the edges.
my two cents.
for you i think the ibanez ts9 is good. its what i got, not bad, under 100 bucks (99.99 haha) if your ear isnt rediculously discerning, dont bother with a vintage line maxon.
I'm stoked that the OD-9 exists, because it sounds exactly like it. The 18 volts option is cool but with a little patience you can dial in just as good a tone with a OD-9. I'd love to see what the guts of this thing looks like. My favorite thing about this pedal is the tone it produces with the level at 100% the tone at 50% and the drive at 0. How many DB's does it have?
That's a well known problem with the Tubescreamer. I haven't tried the new Maxons so I don't know, I only know that this was a problem among the old tubescreamers.
can you suggest an overdrive that hasnt this problem ( I really like to play with great amounts of basses in my tone!)? I'm looking for an OD but I haven't the opportunity to try a big range, since the shops in my town suck....any ideas for a safe bet?
I want this video on my t210 unit.

Last time I checked this wasn't a true bypass pedal.(just unplug the power from it when it's off and you'll see what I mean).
Great overdrive, after trying many this was the one I finally stuck with.

Overdrive Pro or OD-808 Overdrive? They both sound great but I can only afford to get one.

Why are Maxons so expensive? Even the Ibanez look alikes are a lottt.
theShowStopper321 1 year ago
@theShowStopper321 In my opinion Maxon has the best overdrive pedals around, for just one pedal you would use a lot it's a pretty good deal.
nickusa317 1 year ago
I'd kill for one of these.

perhaps a stupid or naive statement but, is it just me or do bigger (size wise) pedals sound better than smaller ones?

@ironrushscorp it should, they are not the same pedal

@ibanezman007 You are thinking of a Zvex Fuzz Factory.
And in my experience, Boss pedals actually seem to be mostly mediocre in sound quality. I only really started liking my MT-2 after I modded it.

@ibanezman007
Boss are absolutely horrible pedals IMO. They suck your tone dry
