  • aw poor babs two steps behind everyone else :) but brilliant in her own right .....pans people rock !!

  • Louise (in green) left because she fell in love - don't you just hate that fella?

  • it was revealed the marc bolan played guitar on this

  • Those were the days when political correctness was a phrase no one had heard of and cameramen pointed their cameras at the gorgeous bottoms of these gorgeous girls. Is Cherry Gillespie the most beautiful girl in the world (and still is)?

  • Is Cherry Gillespie the most beautiful girl in the world ? I think so!

  • Always loved these girls and wanted to look like Louise (or Cherry). Sadly, I never managed it. Lost interest in TOTP when these girls went and we have nothing like it today. I think the X Factor is appalling, as are those other 'wannabe' shows. So glad i grew up in the 60s and 70s; we had the best of it definitely.

  • I actually thought Babs did ok in this one! have watched it back and a 'non professional'' dancer would not notice any slips! (I still wish I could be them 30+ years on)! go pans people!! lol!

  • What better Pans People and Tina Turner

  • Where's Dee Dee? She must have had a day off that week.

  • Ah the wonderful Babs. Always slightly off the beat. My sister and I used to take bets as to which point she would mess up.

She's all over the place in this one!

You can just imagine hours of rehearsals.

"O.K Babs...one to the left...no left...then one to the right...right!...right !!..you dumb cow...Shake it....shake it Babs....no love the same time as Cherry...oh just get to the back where no one will see you...

  • @acechadwick I couldn't have said it better myself. As much as I love Babs she really was an awful dancer. Don;t think I've ever seen her get a routine right EVER!!

  • lol

  • Gorgeous

  • aaaah still brings a lump to my er..... throat

  • I remember this Wow they were Great I loved dancin! always use to do it like this as well never sat still! in those days!

  • Where are they now ????

  • @connor502666 Probably all grandmothers by now. Good lookin' grandmas tho'!!!!!!!!

  • The most pelvic I have seen in a dance

  • Aw man that is so sexy and energetic a bit of belly dancing here and a pelivic thrust there it's wiggle heaven and the hair beatific

  • My first proper girlfriend was just like the girl in green. Loved Pans People - mesmerising.

  • Coulourful classic 70'S REMEBER IT WELL!

  • Brilliant and gorgeous

  • Absolutely as sexy as anything - except their dance to green river

  • when chicks were chicks! fantastic!

  • IIRC September 20th 1973.

  • The height of the glam era and the height of popularity for TOTP, attracting 15 million viewers. Now the only pop show we have is the rubbish X Factor.

  • They have been 6 recovered TOTP's discovered 3 from 1976, 1 from 1974 which was from Dick Emery, and a full complete one from March 1977. Have being discovered recently, lets hope BBC4 or EinsFestival are the perfect place to show them.

So far the German channel has already shown over 27 editions of TOTP, 4 cut due to the Stones and GG.

  • All of them exist from March 1977 onwards, and the majority from 1972 onwards. However, nearly all the sixties shows were destroyed during the drive to a colour BBC after 1969.

As for Gary Glitter, this must be a tricky subject for broadcasters and for people viewing clips. His records are banned from all the radio stations in Britain and POTP on Radio 2 never features a chart which has a GG single in.

  • Well the 22-1-76, 22-2-76 & 25-3-76 editions have now been recovered in existence. nobody hasn't seen them yet. 1 from March 31st 1977 now exists.

  • Perhaps the BBC should revive TOTP2 and show them. Any chance to see Pan's People just before they quit is worthwhile.

  • Gorgeous girls good music dreamy outfits. Sexy not sleazy like 80's and 90's rubbish. Never been equalled since. Still raises a fire in this old fossil after 40 odd years.

  • Ahh the 70s and Pans People, just great!!

  • hot birds

  • hahah! The blonde one in orange is sooooo out of time!

  • mayB , but she was, by genral agreement, da hottest (shame she looks so old now. Sorry, Babs & Bob...)

  • Fantastic the girl in green was my favourite!!!

  • more hips thrusts than any dancers i've seen.. i love this stuff.

  • Is this from Top of the Pops or some other programme ?

  • Can someone tell me the names of all of Pan's People?

  • Flick Colby, Babs Lord, Dee Dee Wilde, Ruth Pearson, Andi Rutherford, Louise Clarke, Cherry Gillespie, Sue Menhenick, Mary Copse, Lee Ward

  • Thanks for the info. Which are the four in this video- and can you possibly tell me which one is which? Babs is the one in the orange, I think.

  • Babs orange (not her usual blue)

    Ruth yellow

    Louise green

    Cherry pink

  • They were always the more skilled dancers than Hot Gossip and I take my hat of to them for even ATTEMPTING to dance to this tune-I couldnt!

  • Pan's People and Legs & Co danced to a lot of songs I wouldn't have thought were possible to dance to.

  • They look like they have just jumped out of the Quality Street tin. Those were the days!

  • this is AWESOME!

  • Their outfits are GORGEOUS!

  • And what's under the outfits ain't bad either!

  • Christ, this isn't good for my lumbago...

  • If they had kept the dancers then maybe TotP would still be on the air, great vid.

  • Gotta thank you for this one....great dance sequence.

  • this was when Father's started to take interest in Top of the Pops...Pans People were a complete breakthrough in dancing on television...think that before that we had the Black and White Minstrel show!!!
