hi Torchmark - thanks for comment. Have you read Richard Dawkins 'The God Delusion'? A friend recommended another book by Christopher Hitchens (I think that's the right name) called God is not Great. I see the unfolding tragedy in the Gaza Strip and can't help thinking things would be so much better without religion!

and if you watched the news recently, ironically the bbc. One of their journalist went to Malaysia to report about how radical Islamic organizations there are recruiting youngsters to go help hamas fight the israelis; "In the name of allah"
disgusting. i'll never vote labour again. their faith schools policies, and 'academies' (where religious nutters are subsidised to decide the ethos of state schools!) are a national disgrace and a ticking timebomb fuelling religious bigotry and hatred.
Please let the human race transcend religion it has held us back for so long. A faith school is the equivalent of wiping your arse on the collected works of Darwin and Newton(all of the greats). Thanks for the further inequality injected into the school system by New Labour
Permitting, promoting and funding the recruitment activities of organised religions is irresponsible. The state should be protecting children from organisations that seek to subvert a rational education based on reason and critical thinking with a fundamentally compromised education where mythology is taught as fact, where belief in mythology is considered a virtue and where children are taught that scientific and religious opinion are of equal weight and value.

Surely by the term itself 'faith' implies a bias towards a religious belief. Would not a non faith a scientific unbiased school would be better. I would not want my daughter to be influenced by some medieval belief. This is Blair's government trying to be all things to all men. He bombs the life out of Muslim countries then says they must have their ' faith' schools.What hypocricy.
