  • I've never seen anyone finish so well after smashing their foot on the bar.

Wow... She is one tough chick.

  • I don't care if she hit her feet on the bars,THAT WAS AMAZING!!it's like it didn't phase her,she kept it going and finished all the rest well!

  • wow u r so amazing good great jib job un rock lol !! ;;))

  • She is amazing....

  • the bars look extra shaky...

  • whats wrong with her teeth?

  • @sophiejo shes british

  • @peaceluvcheer97

    lmao. ew!

  • @peaceluvcheer97 What has the fact that she's british got to do with anything?

  • @B182NP44 British people are known for having bad teeth

  • @peaceluvcheer97 that's so stereotypical. That's like a british person saying all americans are fat

  • @B182NP44 But oddly enough most Americans are fat it's true and I have no issue saying that

  • Her first transition is sooooo cool.

  • such fight! Go on the brits!!!!!! :)

  • i just cannot stress how great of an athlete she is. most athletes would for SURE lose it after the unfortunate beginning, but this trooper rolled out her routine and did it nicely as well. seriously, this rocks.

  • looks like a very old-fashioned routine, like when they had the bars closer together.

  • I have a question and perhaps a gymnast can answer for me: Why do the bars seem so loose when she does them? Can they set them looser? I mean do people have diffferent preferences when it comes to how tight or loose the bars are? They seem soooooo loose :)

  • @Yuri92001 there not loose they are made of wood and are very strong but when she/another gymnast goes on the the force of the moves they are doing causes the bar to bend i only do simple bar skills but when you jump on to one with force it wobbles and bends

  • @cheeseygymnast Eh *shrugs* I thought before that I had heard a gymnast taking about how she liked her bar tension lower....and read something about that on the manufacterers website. Just wondered.

  • Beth Came To Our School

  • wow... that bar set did not stop from start to finish. i didnt have time to think, it was so fast.

  • i remember watching this on eurosport during the games and when she landed her dismount the sportcaster ammediatly said "Wow she's an animal" and i thought it might of offended her a little bit but it made me think what a strong and tough athlete she is!

  • Omg, my heart seriously stops for a second every time I watch this routine! She's so amazing!

  • Its so ironic that in EF if she hadn't added the full turn into the dismount and got deducted she would have medalled :(

  • britain has gotten so much better. if you compare the routines from then to now, theve improved sooo much.

  • this is one of the coolest bar routines ever great connections!

  • This is where I think she needs to improve, if you want to challenge all the girls in the 2012 Olympic Games, I think the "big" problem with Beth was that she did not finished the hands stands, if she hold it a little, (because the truth is that sometimes it seems that she is in a hurry), if she had made the skill, as Nastia Liukin did, hands stands with a body straight and calm, she might have reached the medal stand , for sure, she is amazing, and their routines are so unique!

  • Qual foi a nota de execução ?

    A nota de partida é 7.9 ?

  • These sportscasters are soooooo annoying!

She did not have a good landing!

  • @Gymnast861 do u think the nbc sportcasters are more or less annoying? personally i dont mind the british, but the NBC really get on my nerves

  • NBC, but the british annoy me too

  • I think the nbc are worse but the british are funny and annoying at the same time! :):):)

  • @missmouse35 - Actually; NBC commentators have more knowledge of what they're talking, also, they are gymnasts, (and so are the British, i know) but you can not compare the quality of gymnasts from the USA, with the quality of gymnasts from the UK, which is why many people are upset, but the truth is that I like their comments; are their comments a bit silly sometimes?, YES; true, but we must acknowledge that they are the best as far as knowledge of the rules and skills, in my opinion!

  • good bar roiutine hard to catch up on the bar looks unsuccure!!

  • I can't believe how she salvaged that routine and her focus after hitting her foot like that. With most gymnasts it would have been a lot worse. What a great athlete.

  • to be honest it al just looks messy

  • They used a new set of bars in the finals, they were a lot less noisy and they actually tightened them more so she looked a lot more dynamic and less shaky, unfortunately, she finished out of the medals by the smallest margin...

  • @ChainChomp2 - Yeah, she finished out of the medals podium by very small margin; a .25 tenths of a point deduction; what a shame!

  • wow

  • this all looks fragmented, to many release moves and not enough work on her grace, and her piruettes are finished when she is out of handstand, she could be much better, and it looks to aggressive. With gymnastics you need the strength of a linebacker and the delecacy of a balierena, she has the linebacker but i would love to see her ballerina i think it would be lovley to watch her.

  • she's so talented, there's no denying that. however, i personally just find her gymnastics on bars to be very spastic, for lack of a better word. her skills are huge and she is very consistent, yet i find myself always cringing at how bouncy and twitchy her bar work can get.

  • wow i dont remember this when it happened. she made an amazing save early on in the routine. i don't love her style ... she is not very elegant and pretty to look at but she sure is talented.

  • man i wished shes won a medal at the olympics ;) shed be the first british gymnast ;)

  • that is her original skill... its like a backwards khorkina... i love it.

  • Love her! This was THE routine on bars at the Olys...it just wasn't fully realized when it counted. Go Beth!

  • omg i could never keep going on after she hit her feet on the bar. that was amazing!!

  • hmmm does she get higher becuz of the bounce from the bars?

  • How on earth did she squeak out that markelov/geinger after clocking her foot on the bar like that? Wow. If there were a bonus for pure fight, Tweddle would get full marks.

  • That is exactly what went through my mind as I watched this. Crazy! I simply cannot believe that she made it through that combo after not only hitting her foot on the bar, but then being so far off center on the pirouette! She's got guts, that's for sure.

  • Are you kidding?!? Her toe point is excellent, back flexibility lovely and her dismount is super clean. She just sets her bars very loose, which can be distracting if you're not used to it. Nothing wrong with the beauty in her movement!

  • I absolutely LOVE BETH and agree with most of what you say here...BUT sometimes she TENDS to arch the back bit too much in one of her handstands. Other than that....one of the best British (commonwealt) gymnasts I have ever seen!

  • false, it is .5 deduction for feet hitting a bar

  • She is an inspiration

  • She had so much difficuty in that routine its so good

  • She fought so hard, and it was well rewarded, she made it into the UB final as the last qualifier :D! I guess they forgot to tighten the bars...

Her score was 15.650, with a difficulty score of 7.60, because she didn't do the full pirouette into the dismount like she did in the finals. (Just so you know :P)

  • I have a feeling they loosened the bars for her... because there is no way that that girl could have made them bend that much with just her weight.

    Her routine is beautiful.

  • yeah, it was so nice to see her improve her score by almost a point. i wouldn't have minded if she beat yang yilin, because beth had some serious releases.

  • ur right I thought they were going to snap

  • many many release moves !!! to hot, she just need to ameliorate her transition !!! she is so special

  • did her legs HITS the low bar?

  • Wow, one of the best saves ever.

  • I think she has great stamina & really fought to the end of her routine, in spite of difficulties. Well done Beth.

  • wow .... its amazing she kept it together! great job! i was afraid the bars were going to fall, they looked really shaky

  • So amazing how she regained her composure after that clash and still continue the release combo with so much amplitude.

I really hope she can will the gold at 2009 world championships, in front of a home crowd.

  • awsome performance nd i luv her leo!

  • i think she might have tried a bit too hard to keep her legs straight like he kexin and yang yilin, which caused her to hit the lower bar because her legs are long but it was a exellent routine in my judgment.

  • yeah but you're allowed to pike/straddle to pass the low bar without being deducted

  • She one of the highest bar champions in the world. So watch out because u should she Beth on floor and it's amazing.

  • what was her final score on bars?

  • shes bad ass on bars

  • The understatement of the century! ;-D

  • That was so impresseive!!! It's so amazing how she carried on after that clash on the low bar. Also, how on-earth did she make the Khorkina look so high, amazing, way to go Beth!!!

  • Does somebody knows her grade?

  • She rushes this routine and it looks messy. Look at her after the dismount, when she poses for the judges: she even rushes that and makes that look messy too.

  • beautiful

  • OMFG!! can't understand how she did well linking the Khorkina to the 2nd move look the high!! my gosh!! xDD!! so strong and agressive!!

    she deserved a medal!! :(

  • SICK! I've seen this routine about a hundred times and I'm still amazed by her guts. How on earth did she pull off the Khorkina-Jienger combo?

  • she hit the low bar that cost her 0.5 and the angle out of 10 degree that cost 0.3

  • Then the hit out of the low bar lead her to the same deductions as if she had fallen... wow... well now I understand a bit more....

  • if she had fallen, the deduction would be 0.8

  • How did she pull that off?! That's pretty sick!

  • That was it... that was her mistake hitting the lower bar... yes I realise that the incident lead her to go crooked in the handstand.. but still I think it was really minor... and she barely made it to the final.
