  • Haha, me too how bizzare. I sing along with it every time it comes on.

  • fkn bryers commercial its crazy the sngs you here in odd places haha

  • This is real rock, without kiddie-sounding vocals or boring guitar riffs. Music with soul, this song is pure jam and funk, the way it was mean to be.

  • WHERE WERE YOU when this song came out?????? come on gang....i was in Seattle WA in usa...

  • I've looking for this song for a long time. Thanks man. You're lovely.

  • I have been trying to find this song for a solid hour! The Breyes Ice-Cream commercial got me liking it again.

  • That happened to me too, I saw the commercial this morning , and the song got stuck in my head. but I found it in 5 min.

  • Been watching Harper's Island online and almost every commercial break has this song playing. I can't get it out of my head.

  • Isn't it nice when commercials bring back good songs! This is such a good song and I've really gotten to appreciate it, all due to a commercial!! :)

  • Lol I am a victim of the commercial...fucking bryers =)

  • Awesome song!

  • Who sings this song?

  • ace

  • I guess commercials do work lol

  • That commercial...err uhh THIS SONG ROCKS!!!

  • Ummm....This song is not by Ambrosia. It is by Paul Carrack (His group that released it in the 70's was called ACE). Definitely NOT Ambrosia...

  • Yea....add me to the list of those of us prompted by that commercial. I've always liked other Ambrosia tunes however I never knew this was one of their songs until now.

  • hmm...im guessing everybody else came here because of the commercial...well...me too lol

  • same

  • im here because of the commercial too!

    :D

  • The only reason I watch the commercial is because i like the song.,....lol.. isn't that crazy?

  • me also!!

  • it's funny how the commercial made me want to get this song much more than it gave me a craving to indulge in ice cream.

  • ditto

  • actually i got a craving for ice cream first, then i remembered ive seen the commercial before and wanted to find out this song hehe, its a good song, i always think when i see the commercial its another song, which has similar music, but i cannot remember whats its called, i love 70's music.

  • Yup, I saw it on the commercial too.

  • This song is by Ambrosia How long has this been going on

    Your Welcome!

  • no, it's by a band called Ace, I think they only had the one hit - but still pretty good going for what was basically a London pub band! One of my favourite songs, I love the harmonising at the end...

  • ah~! i'm here cuz i heard it on breyer's ice cream commercial too! lol

  • as you might imagine, i came looking for this song after hearing it in a commercial, so it wouldn't shock me if the same happened to you!

  • love it

  • Why is it I cant find this on ITunes?

  • they probably don't have an agreement with the right holder, or the publishing owner

  • really weird video u got goin' on to this song. its funny 'n weird. so weird its funny. what's with the barbie dolls? hehe. LOL.

  • yes i agree....its a wonderful song. have u seen the Breyers ice cream commercial, where the wife catches the husband eating ice cream from the carton? this song is playing in that commercial.

  • i heard this song from some commercial.

  • Comment removed

  • the breyers ice cream commercial?

  • yep it was on commercial

  • Great Song!

  • You know what, they don't make the music like this anymore at all. Paul, how long, Nicolette Larson, Lotta Love, what happened to the good ole days, what happend to the people that made music like this!?? Thanks for keeping it alive..

  • Rod Stewart did a decent cover on this song also... Sad that the combination of talent and message in music are so seldom found anymore...

  • Actually, Bobby Womack does a version thats just beautiful...

  • All Hail Ambrosia!...how often do you get to say that. Old school rock at its best.

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks, it's an awesome song :-)x

  • hell YEAH THANKS!!!

  • Music attained perfection in the 70s. It's a scientific fact.

  • Brings back memories! ntg

  • Another great timeless song from the 70s that i grew up on.

  • This is indeed Paul Carrack on lead vocals, prior to the Squeeze/Mike and the Mechanics/Solo Success. The man is one of the most amazing vocalists of all time.

  • A great song from 1975.One of the best from the decade.

  • goooo paul carrack

  • I heard that, actually, although still a "love song" of sorts, that this song is about a band member lookin' into other opportunities. Rock 'n Roll, a complicated marraige of musicians and music.

  • This song came out at the same time I found out that my wife of three years was seeing someone else. I wanted to ask but was afraid to find out how long. Great song, haunting lyrics, and my love will never go away. Thanks for posting this chemical sisters.

  • thats a very moving comment... love and peace man!

  • Smooth, timeless sound. Thank you for posting!

  • This song is another fine example of how special the music of the 1970's is and how nothing that is out there today could possible compare. Chemicalsisters, thanks for posting.

  • love this song..I always have always will

  • This song's got a great beat, fine guitar rythem and riff, and vocals. Bass is strong

and tight. Well arranged and executed.

One of the finest soft rock anthems that defined a decade....and a generation !!

  • kick ass and i luv men

  • i dont luv men lol tht was my friend who found out my effin password

  • i have love this song

  • I simply ADORE this song!!! Everyone assumed he was singing about a love affair gone wrong, when in fact he was singing about a band member planning to leave the group

  • Great memories when everything seemed right

  • I do not know why but I like this video...

  • I think this is my favorite 70s song...

  • One of the best songs of the 70s that did not get much airplay...or recognition. A true classic with a fine guitar riff. I'm not

sure how far Ace made it in the mainstream,

as I wonder to this day whatever happened

to this fine band. Do they have any other hits besides "How Long" ?? Where are they now ?> Have the band members spun-off to

other bands that have made it?? Player's "Baby Come Back" and Skylark's "Wildflower" are the other 2 great

    one-hit wonder 70's rock songs ever !!

  • i think Paul carrack was in this band...he briefly joined Squeeze...and had some solo success.

  • This video is the best representation I have ever seen of what Hell must really be like.

  • Ha! Yeh, but the music is cool. I guess Heaven would be like a Fleetwood Mac or Enya music video but the opposite case for the music .. i.e, total pants!

  • this is a great song, i was looking too much, its bring me back memories, how forget it. great song ones of my favorites in ingles, because i speak spanish\...............

  • SORRY! He looked black in this video. I later realized He's white, when I looked up Paul Currack. He's a fantastic singer! I love the song (eyes of blue)

  • Not a problem. Please don't think I was chastisizing you. I wasn't. Paul has such a great voice.

    Very soulful.

  • I watched the video a few times tonight. I can see why you would think Paul was black. You can't be faulted for thinking so.

I wish you a Happy Holiday. Seriously. Much love to you and yours.

I just get too fact-specific sometimes.

    Mike

  • For the record the singer is black in this vid but the band is not ACE they have just used the song over their vid.can see why you got confused. his name is Denzel and comes from Ayelsbury in UK.

  • One of the best songs of all time! That's how a black man sings. Fuck that RAP shit!!!

  • The singer is Paul Carrack. He's white.

  • one of my first vinyl singles, & still my fave song ever x

  • me too

  • Ace isn't Ace Frehley?

  • Duh!! Ace was an English band. Ace Frehley was an American. Paul Carrack was the lead singer of Ace.

  • Agree. Great song! I believe that Paul Carrack also sang lead on Squeeze's "Tempted."

  • yeah, you believe right, paul carrack sang lead vocals on squeeze's 1981 song "tempted".he also sang lead in the mike and the mechanics.have you heard the "living years" from 1989,that's him.

  • Love the song-great to hear it again. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Great song, correct me if i am wrong but this song was about the band bass player was moon lighting with another band and they caugth him and .......How long has this been going on?

  • Yes, but the song has got entirely different meaning obviously :)

  • And I heard that it was about a guy who walked in on his gal banging some dude. Whatever! They opened for Yes in 1975 at the Silver Bowl in Las Vegas. Great concert!!!

  • Great song indeed!

  • Great song which stands up over thirty years later. Reminds me of when I had hair!

  • B-E-A-T-I-F-U-L

(and a flop in the Netherlands)

  • OT, but do you remember a band called Sandy Beach who had a moderate hit with True Love That's a Wonder? It's bit in this vein I think. Haven't heard it for a long time.

  • I'm hooked on this song

  • i love this song

  • Carrack can belt it.

  • Wow!! Haven't heard this in years.... I saw one of Paul Carrack and Ace's few live performances in Oxford in 1975. "How Long" ago is that? And How much older am I now...........oh dear :-)

  • You wouldn't believe how many years went by we me assuming that the lead singer was black. I was stunded later on to learn that singer Paul Carrack, who had later sung with Squeeze and Mike and the Mechanics, was a white guy and an Englishman at that! Ah...the beauty of music videos! ;-)
