what is worst of this was the income trusts reversal was sold to the public on lies. There was no tax leakage before but in reality there are MORE tax leakage after the income trust reversal. Basically it transfer ownership from the Joe Public to the hands of big pension fund and foreign hands which pays little or no tax. Of course there is also the lying of Conservative election promise.

Income trusts lost enough their value and were made takeover targets by foreign Companies that would otherwise not have been able to secure them.Sadly many were Canadian utilities, Harper talks security n one hand and sells our soul on the other.

Many of my friends are giving up on the new Conservative Party and voting Green. Harpers Con Party has proven less fiscally responsible than the liberals. The greens value fiscal responsibility, and those who are environmentally focussed and support social justice & progressiveness rather than social conservatism have been joining the Green Party.

Alberta is tied with B.C. for the most Green Party support in Canada.

I imagine some disillusioned Conservatives will vote Christian Heritage, or even Liberal, but a great many are joining the Green Party.

Alright, you may have a point in terms of budget spending (since it was necessary due to the dissolution of our armed forces), but, Paul Martin and his freedom guised Liberal cronies have wasted more taxpayer money than any other government in previous years. You want to talk about broken promises, what about when the Liberals promised to eliminate the GST and then backed away from it completely? It was unfortunate with the income trust, yes, but quit painting these Liberals as saints.

Also, the Conservative party wasn't found on a lie. The right was reunited and a new platform was created. Your party can claim all they want as being the party of the Charter, but the old Conservative party was the party of confederation.
