Of course drugs are a choice, I doubt that there isn't a person that hasn't been told that drugs are addictive sometime in their life! In HI we always have good weather so I am sure people actually come here in order to live. Even if that means on the st. Some people like being homeless! Easy fix, all jobs are to be for full time residences only and not party stayer for a 12 month vacation, stop the tipping bullshit and pay all employees as in Australia and not depend on the tourist to cover there wages. Also the state needs to directly injected more funds into supporting charities and take a hands on approach to rehabilitate these people. We hired a car for 3 days and saw an area all locates told us not to visited the west coast. We knew there was a hidden secret there cause all the tourist tours avoided this area and we now know why. It obvious America claimed Hawaii for its strategic Pacific location but do not want to deal with the economic and social problems.

We do now there is poverty everywhere but seeing what we saw was far from the island paradise Hawaii is know for. We saw people sleeping on the footpath from the Hilton to the Aston on the beach hotel every. We were never once hassled for money but you could see in there eyes they hoped some fortunate tourist may give them some loose change or a bit to eat.

I liked your video, I am getting to know about homeless people in there and I am in touch with a non profit organization in Honolulu if they accept me I wil volunteer there I hope it works I want to get to know the other side of the Paradise that the tourists don’t want to see when they go there. Because everything there is overpriced, I don't know why the govt. is not looking for a way for Hawaii to produce it's own stuff and not transports from the mainland. If only they lower down the value of the land, houses, taxes etc., but no it's not going to happen. I do freelance nursing work and can make good money whenever I want to , but I found it difficult to rent an apartment there.They would announce a showing in the paper or at a property office and if it was a decent apartment at a reasonable price,it would be gone in less than an hour ! There is a real shortage of rental property and the property managers know it. They are rude and dishonest.Never pay your last months rent in Hawaii.They will steal your deposit.
Sal army= if they think you cannot cover all your bills for whatever reason they can deny you help because they think you are a waste of time and if you make morethan 1200 as a singleperson you can be onthe line of whatkind of help youget which is a salarybase foodstamps use also This is gross and we all know gross isnt the money we see, think about it who can live on 1200dollars a month if they pay all the bills? I cant prove it but I suspect they also go by quotos as the government as in race
due to several injurys on the job recently and from my youth my woking capacity is limited so my choice of the great jobs out there for lower income is not much. I have tried to get help from the Salv. Army and have been turned down and away or blown off by them. they are getting funds from the government so they have to abide by their standards on who can get money. Part of their ways are because of this but not all. If you make too little or just a little too much you are denied.
Hey, I don't comment on Waydes Video, I just posted it on my channel for him...He has done a lot for the Homless and drug addits here and took a thankless Job for sometime here in Hawaii @ da Family Treatment Services Division of the Salvation Army in Kahala on Oahu. He did his best to not only feed the homeless but to train single homeless mothers to help them get back into the work force. He was let go when he whistle blew on the the Salvation Army's illegal activities!
@TheHawaiianHammah I am very interested in your comments since I searched this video to say that I am going thru rough timesand am going thru the system which is very limited here in Florida/ I was also let fown hard by the sal army in my area for their broken promises or lack of help and they also eventually eliminated our town from getting services except food for whatever reason. I cringe when I hear those bells and I know others also have had the same experiences.
@TheHawaiianHammah To also add to my comments I had a work related accident which is causing me many problems and so my abilties to provide for myself have become limited and so am in waiting with a suit but in the meantime I have found the charities to be slim pickens Some of the catholic charities have been the best and that is it. I am planning to make it to Hawaii eventually and somewhere I hope to be able to help the less fortunate. this country has blown it off to help other countrys.
@TheHawaiianHammah I do see some of his points on the baskets or the laying around in the parks. Some are sick and so the cart is their ability to move their junk and lets face it many of the homeless are on drugs and they can make them less active. plus they are saving their spot. Still the government needs to be more active in solving the problems without kicking them further into the mud or to get too controling. the addicts need help and so does the mentally ill along with the others.
Well just lost my bet, but at least I know there is no heaven on this world. Are you sure that ALL the people standing in the queue were homeless? Some could have just very low incomes. How about the social care in there? Here in the Netherlands it is very difficult to become homeless unless you really want it and you are a drug addict.

where have the jobs gone? India, China,Indonesia ,and we let illegal immigrants steal the jobs and for a lower price like the other countrys. Create jobs opportunites for the homeless as national park reserve maintenance and security attendants to make sure the parks are preserved while the 1000s of families temporarily/permanently occupy the parks
A really big solution is to open up the national reserves in Hawaii for the homeless with the simple rule of no alteration of the land, no raw sewage, no unattended trash, and place water, disposal and bathroom/shower pavillions throughout the reserves. A single reserve can take care of 1000+ familes a day!
Allow Homeless to sleep in their cars or tents in the parks and have soup kitchens at NIGHT TIME.
In the morning make them pickup and take all their belongings so that tourist and people with homes can enjoy their homeless-free parks in the DAYTIME.

Here is another problem lack of lower income treatment centers Seems to me government is too interested in helping other countrys and turn a blind eye to our poor, give to the local churches and ask them to help the poor. You took the time to make a video, now get certified to be a charity and solicit funds from people and help the homeless, and apply for government help, if you must, and get them counseling, because if it's strong on your heart then you're the person to fix it. Yeah it's depressing when I go and see this. Well, a few weeks ago on the news they said that they were discussing a bill to close down Ala Moana park and Kapiolani park at night for overnight campers. But it hasn't been signed into law yet. At the same time, where would these people go? The state is a facing budget deficit and cutting back on social service programs.

Because everything there is overpriced, I don't know why the govt. is not looking for a way for Hawaii to produce it's own stuff and not transports from the mainland. If only they lower down the value of the land, houses, taxes etc., but no it's not going to happen. It just proves that the current system sucks, the rich become richer and the poor becomes more poor. Way to go capitalistic monetary system make the people suffer.

I do freelance nursing work and can make good money whenever I want to , but I found it difficult to rent an apartment there.They would announce a showing in the paper or at a property office and if it was a decent apartment at a reasonable price,it would be gone in less than an hour ! There is a real shortage of rental property and the property managers know it. They are rude and dishonest.Never pay your last months rent in Hawaii.They will steal your deposit.

due to several injurys on the job recently and from my youth my woking capacity is limited so my choice of the great jobs out there for lower income is not much. I have tried to get help from the Salv. Army and have been turned down and away or blown off by them. they are getting funds from the government so they have to abide by their standards on who can get money. Part of their ways are because of this but not all. If you make too little or just a little too much you are denied.

Hey, I don't comment on Waydes Video, I just posted it on my channel for him...He has done a lot for the Homless and drug addits here and took a thankless Job for sometime here in Hawaii @ da Family Treatment Services Division of the Salvation Army in Kahala on Oahu. He did his best to not only feed the homeless but to train single homeless mothers to help them get back into the work force. He was let go when he whistle blew on the the Salvation Army's illegal activities!

@TheHawaiianHammah I am very interested in your comments since I searched this video to say that I am going thru rough timesand am going thru the system which is very limited here in Florida/ I was also let fown hard by the sal army in my area for their broken promises or lack of help and they also eventually eliminated our town from getting services except food for whatever reason. I cringe when I hear those bells and I know others also have had the same experiences.

@TheHawaiianHammah To also add to my comments I had a work related accident which is causing me many problems and so my abilties to provide for myself have become limited and so am in waiting with a suit but in the meantime I have found the charities to be slim pickens Some of the catholic charities have been the best and that is it. I am planning to make it to Hawaii eventually and somewhere I hope to be able to help the less fortunate. this country has blown it off to help other countrys.

Some are sick and so the cart is their ability to move their junk and lets face it many of the homeless are on drugs and they can make them less active. plus they are saving their spot. Still the government needs to be more active in solving the problems without kicking them further into the mud or to get too controling. the addicts need help and so does the mentally ill along with the others.

Well just lost my bet, but at least I know there is no heaven on this world. Are you sure that ALL the people standing in the queue were homeless? Some could have just very low incomes. How about the social care in there? Here in the Netherlands it is very difficult to become homeless unless you really want it and you are a drug addict.

Create jobs opportunites for the homeless as national park reserve maintenance and security attendants to make sure the parks are preserved while the 1000s of families temporarily/permanently occupy the parks

A really big solution is to open up the national reserves in Hawaii for the homeless with the simple rule of no alteration of the land, no raw sewage, no unattended trash, and place water, disposal and bathroom/shower pavillions throughout the reserves. A single reserve can take care of 1000+ familes a day!

A simple temporary solution:
Allow Homeless to sleep in their cars or tents in the parks and have soup kitchens at NIGHT TIME.
In the morning make them pickup and take all their belongings so that tourist and people with homes can enjoy their homeless-free parks in the DAYTIME.

Hawaii wants to hide it's homeless from the tourist becuase that is our sole economy aside from the military.
A possible solution to this is:
Allow homeless people and soup lines to occupy the parks AT NIGHT TIME. Allow sleeping in cars and tents in the parks AT NIGHT TIME.
Why? Because.....
People with homes usually DON'T Go to parks in the wee hours of the night
Tourist usually go to the parks and beach in the DAYTIME!!!

Many are drug users and are more interested in getting their next fix or alcoholics. Here is another problem lack of lower income treatment centers Seems to me government is too interested in helping other countrys and turn a blind eye to our poor, give to the local churches and ask them to help the poor. Many churches do help without allowing the government to rule how money gets dispenced. it is illegal to steal grocerys carts there are rewards on getting them back with some stores.

You took the time to make a video, now get certified to be a charity and solicit funds from people and help the homeless, and apply for government help, if you must, and get them counseling, because if it's strong on your heart then you're the person to fix it. Yeah it's depressing when I go and see this. Well, a few weeks ago on the news they said that they were discussing a bill to close down Ala Moana park and Kapiolani park at night for overnight campers. But it hasn't been signed into law yet. At the same time, where would these people go? The state is a facing budget deficit and cutting back on social service programs.

I know it's not an easy job filming this at the park and beaches in Oahu.
