Wouldn't you want to sand it down before spraying it? I know it'd take longer, but it'd have a much better finish at the end, making it easier to carry and look more authentic.

@Erinator9000 cool. 930 club had signs saying "no toy guns" so make sure you can hide it on you or stash it somewhere like your car if your venue is a Better Living Industries venue.

@patdx97xluvx4eva I'm trying to get Catherine to do a summer business making and selling these. She made the 2nd prototype last week (sorry no video on that!), painted it differently than the one I made, and presented it to the band (well, Frank took it on the bus). If she makes any progress, I'll keep everyone up to date in the comments here.

What i would do is drill a hole in the top and put a laser pointer in (glued) so it can be an actuall ray gun!!! :)

@coltondecarteret21 I wonder if ppl would want unpainted ones that could be customized? Or maybe ones that are just primed and read to be painted and decorated? You don't need spraypaint, probably regular latex paint from an art store, or HomeDepot, or walmart would work fine.

What kind of wood was that? And where did you get the pic of the gun?

@GORYwashington The wood is pine 1x6 from Home Depot. The color pic of the gun is a screen capture from the Na Na Na video. I don't remember where the black and white pic came from, but I ended up using the color pic as the template.
