Ummmm well if your talking about doubles your going to want to use your fingers for control control rather than wrists like a lot of bad drummers do.... Ummmm singles... what I do is go up through the metronome start really slow and work your way up playing 16ths when you get to the point where you can't play them steady for periods do quarter note increments or half notes or whole switching between 8th's and 16th's and keep going up.

I shed derived from the term "wood shedding" which means to rehears, practice or play. It stated when the old jazz drummer Gene Krupa would go out to his wood shed as a child and practice playing the drums. :)
