What a role model for Canadian Children. Caught with his pants down in a brothel he told police while being naked on a bed he had no idea he was in a whore house.
I cannot see myself voting NDP since I do not agree with many of their policy initiatives, however, of all the leaders, Jack is leaps and bounds more personable, friendly, approachable and understanding than the others. Harper is cold and aloof, Iggy is some stranger from Harvard (and I usually vote Liberal saying that) and Duccy is obsessed with breaking apart our beautiful country. Jack, if you became Liberal leader - this country would be yours to lead.
I have only one question for Jack Layton and the NDP - where will you put the Hammer and Sickle on the Canadian flag - inside the Maple Leaf or in the corner like the old soviet one?
@sweiland75 - Like all socialists, he would control people through the ever-increasing powers of government. Socialists control the economy through punitive taxation. Government regulation and punitive taxation drives private business to uncompetitiveness and extinction. Socialism punishes hard work and success, while laziness and dependence is rewarded. This is what is happening now, but socialists would accelerate the process.
@sweiland75 - Here he complains of subsidies, but he would just subsidize what he wants. His subsidies would be larger and the costs of transportation would skyrocket. Energy prices would increase to the point that the average person would be taken off the road. Maybe not a problem in cities, but not everybody lives in the fucking GTA. Without private transportation as competition, the costs of mass transit wouldn't be a bargain either.
@sweiland75 - Check out rising electricity prices in Ontario, where a nanny-state leftist moron premier is using energy subsidies to bankrupt the province and further drive out the few remaining industries. It doesn't stop with energy policy - socialism destroys free market business and competition and makes government the be-all and end-all to everything. What's the point working when the government takes even more than they do now? Get in the welfare line and get the free shit.
@sweiland75 - With dependence comes loss of freedom. Freedom is inversely proportional to the power of government. History tells us that. Nobody wants more tax revenue and control than people like Layton. Well, maybe Stalin.
@bub4444 - Much of Canada's peace and prosperity are due to its position and shared history with the United States. Those of you on the left would prefer Cuba and other left-wing dictatorships, but I'll take the Americans as neighbours and allies any day. Your irrational bigotry toward them is ridiculous. I thought those of you on the left were supposed to stop hating Americans when they elected the marxist doofus...
@bub4444 - Your hatred of Americans doesn't show your 'Canadian identity' or 'distinctiveness', it just reveals you to be a resentful, small-minded, left-wing bigot.
Hey Jack get educated.. Greenhouse gases are inside a greenhouse.5 years and two election later and you still don't get why you are not the prime minister? We do not buy your dirty oil crap anymore your greenhouse scam and your science Challenged idiotic idea that CO2 is a pollutant... The Scam is up.
@CanadianAtheist7 as a matter of Facts????? made Facts are not Factual facts. CO2 is not a pollutant never was never will be.... Demonizing a life Giving Gas and to call it a Pollutant is not only wrong but also Repulsively science Challenged.
@Etudianteindigne reduce? The Plants are starving ,as it is at today's 390PPM Greenhouses, the real greenhouses, are operating at 1200ppm for best plant / food production, and you are in favor of reducing this 390ppm to that meaningless 350ppm . Layton will say anything ,and he is not alone ,to get elected and he still does not understand that as long as he stay on this Unscientific notion that CO2 cause AGW is goose is cook.
@wilbert1755 Unlike others on these commentaries, I see that you are informed. I understand what you mean by "Unscientific", because there is a debate on the fact that CO2 may not be in cause. But my point is that if it's not CO2, it's something else... Nobody can deny that we use too much of Earth's resources. If scientific evidence shows otherwise, well good! But now we cannot take risks... it's better to act than standing there and waiting for the problem to get solved by itself.
@Etudianteindigne How can you solve a problem when there is no problem?yes it is something else it is called a natural Cycle . Every 30 to 40 years we have a warming period and then we have a cooling period ,the one we are just starting to experience. Why is the Temperature dropping if CO2 is going up? How do we use to much resources? Everything we use is for the purpose of Building a home or have a Computer ,having a job to go to etc.. it is call having a life/ living.
@Thunderwavia Wait till the pride of Alberta will cause the shame of our Earth... There cannot be pride in doing irreversible pollution to our Earth and our children's.
@Etudianteindigne Did you type this on your computer? Which was formed from forms of oil during the manufacturing process, do you own a car? anything plastic? Jesus man, get a grip. The world works this way, clearly you wouldnt understand if you support Jack Layton and his quebec loving granola eaters who currently hold 3/4 of Canada's debt.
@slednecks17 First, do you live in Quebec? If so, you would know that "granola eaters" are a minority here... BC is probably the only province where "granola eating" is socially desirable. Everywhere else, it's regarded as stupid ideals. So, congrats for mainting the status quo! The fact that the world works this way is an excellent argument, you really convinced me! Not. Everything is a question of PROPORTIONS. It's impossible to eliminate gas and petrol, but it is possible to REDUCE its use.
@slednecks17 The world only works that way because moron's like you keeping towing the line with your defeatism. If you think oil is still the future of energy in this country you are a madman. We have enormous green energy potential why would we waste RD money or infrastructure money on a 20th century technology. Alberta has felt the boon of the sands monetarily, but that is mainly because of huge federal incentive packages.
@Thunderwavia Don't be sorry, I am sorry for you because you using the category "leftist" and - thank you that made my day! - "propaganda"!!! I don't think you don't even have the faintest idea of what that word really means if you employ it so unconsciously. Good luck for your critical thinking quest.
@Etudianteindigne Yes. the Bloc should disband and have it's representatives join the NDP. They're not doing anything except ... well... Blocking. At least, NDP can bring real change and has political leverage with the ROC to promote the interests of Quebec
