How do people believe this is fake at the beginning he pulled away from the guy and if you are really that blind you can easily see the guys jacket flapping in the wind. And besides that fact why wouldn't a 1000cc snowmobile be able to go past a 100 MPH when a 800cc snowmobile can.

I'm glad I was able to make this POS video of a speedometer entertaining for some of you with my intoxicated comment. Rednecks sure are sensitive about their speedometer accuracy.
I had my sled on the stand once reving it up after doing maintenance and it blew the track after 80mph (had holes from studs ripped out) it took the jack with it, bent the bumper in a 45 degree angle stand shot up went through my celine and back down through the wall beside the fuse box. track teleported to other side of garage and went through my garage door. Talk about cheating death? Oh and I was standing behind it literally maybe no more than 5 seconds before it blew (someone else operating)
my dad lets me ride his thunder cat 1000 modded i come from riding 440s then i get on a t cat its like riding a jet so fast thats why i allways beat my friends in races. pluse my dad draged race. got to love the t cats

yeah the speedos were lacking i rode a 99 zrt 800 the speedo broke at one time and i had it at is limits the rest .. and it was all stock exsept for the ripsaw track and woodys picks

@breethwithme well arctic cat usedthe same speedo on everything. (even the 35 hp fan cooled 440s) so it is a universal type of speedo.if u notice he absolutly buries that speedo. my 700 will go past 100 too with ease... it is weird why arctic cat never did change this until the f series in 2003ish. nice video though man! arctic cat power!

some say fake,i say no the first bit looks to fast but that is the track spinning and then from 60mph on,its pure raw power.even for a 98 they will eat just about any sled out there today except for the turbos and mod sleds. if you ever get one you will love the feel of 175hp stock..
those things are damn fast... i got to try one and going across a 1.5km feild i looked back and there werent any ski marks, just the tracks so that was a 1.5km cat walk maybe only half throtle!. only got it up to 130km/h though...
I sold my 1000 thundercat. It was way too fast for me. It was SCARY! I got 440 and it was much better for me! But 1000 had AMAZING Acceleration! Good stuff!

well i may as well add my two cents worth in here too i have drove those sleds i have owned cats too 580 zr and they are fast but i had a 700 yamaha and raced the t cat now i did not beat him nor did i think i would but there was not much difference in them and i had a rx1 it was a fast sled and it would not do 176 mph anyone that would post a speed like that is some kinda stupid if i was a betting man i would say that the rx1 would do 115/120 easy and get there some kinda fast
Im a cat guy and the zr 580's were the worst sleds cat ever made. no way you walked all over an 800 anything. If that sled hasn't burned down yet your very lucky.

Those thundercats are bullets even to todays stantards. What many do not realize is the snowmobile speedo works on track revolutions, regardless of surface or traction. What that means if the tracks slips which it usually does on snow and ice (go figure), you get a false reading. Put a GPS on it and you will find that the acceleration is not true to the speedometre reading. This is more evident on hard acceleration as you can see hes goes from 0-60mph in about 2-3 secs.
im willing to bet he regeared that thing and didnt correct the speedo. ive got a 1000 cc street bike and it doesnt pull that fast. also consider that with acceleration that fast hed have flipped over isntantly
i dont think you have any idea how fast these thundercats were.....2-stroke 1000 triples....and it may not be stock as well....these sleds were mean and probably just as fast as a street bike....keep in mind they put out 150-170 HP stock
Gear ratios are irrelevant since the speedo pickup is on the driveshaft. The only way to mess with the speedo is to change the size of the track drivers... unlike on a bike where you can change final drive ratios easily. Snowmobile speedos are typically inaccurate for a number of reasons... not the least of which is track spin. If you've ever ridden one of these things you would see that you don't "flip over instantly" and 110mph or so is a realistic expectation for top end on these sleds.
Not quite sure why this is not believable... it is a snowmobile, it is not in fast forward (would be the slowest piece of shit), it was my first time ripping her (reason for throttle hesitation) across a lake. I still had plenty of throttle left, this year I think the owner is getting a digital speedo and adding reeds. I'll post another video going across a much longer section of the lake.
What i find unbelievable is that there are so many idiot people that think this is an atv. first off NO production atv can match a snowmobile in performance, and this is clearly a snowmobile from the 2stroke sound. These people don't realize that the thundercat 1000 was a snowmobile for years until they came out with the 1000 ATV just recently.
you see in the reflection that he leaves his buddy when he starts out... and at 1:23 when he turns around you see trees moving by in the reflection...not to mention the wind noise...he's definitely moving.
Now if he's actually doing that speed..that's another story. But I bet he's doing at least 100mph

My 2000 Thundercat 1000 seems to have traction problems when I floor the gas the track just spins and it has 1.75 inch lugs and 140 woody studs. I cant seem to get it up to speed. It is almost bone stock. I would also like to know what was the stock HP rating for 2000 Thundercat's.
there is alot more power to be found in those engines. stock they are 175 HP (900cc) and 185 HP (1000cc). but once they are ported, tuned (carbs and ignition), better reeds and pipes you can push over 200 HP. then you just gotta get it to the snow better with a new clutch setup and maybe different gearing in the chaincase.
no matter what anyone says the Thundercats are still among the fastest production snowmobiles.
@Turbojeep23 900cc thundercats are in the 160hp range. 1000cc thundercats are 172hp stock. but yes with porting, reeds, pipes, and intake they will push over 200hp
@Firecat400EX Arctic Cat rated their bigger sleds conservatively. they say 160hp, but thats with stock jetting, which is way too rich. tune the carbs and you'll be at 175hp. (900cc) AC rated my ZR 700 at 115hp, but its closer to 128hp when dialed in.
Yep, Back in the old days i ran a sno jet 292 it had the yamaha engine. It was the SST model. It topped out at 55 mph!! What a differance!! How fast is too fast??!!
I sold my 900 Thundercat. TOOOO FAST. The man that had it before me had it up to 138 MPH and still climbing!! It was also modded. At 60 MPH if you gunned it you really had to hold on tight!! Not a very practicle sled. I should of got a 600 instead.

I own one and they are that fast.
I race my wife on her 800 MXZ X package and I smoke her all the time. Yes she can ride! Also she weights 110lbs and I weight over 200.
Properly set up with the PowerBreather, ported, and carbs set up by a T-Cat specialist this sled easily virus the needle.
Mind you cornering is no where near that of the 800MXZ. I like to call the T-Cat my "point and shoot" machine.

Not quite sure why this is not believable... it is a snowmobile, it is not in fast forward (would be the slowest piece of shit), it was my first time ripping her (reason for throttle hesitation) across a lake. I still had plenty of throttle left, this year I think the owner is getting a digital speedo and adding reeds. I'll post another video going across a much longer section of the lake.

What i find unbelievable is that there are so many idiot people that think this is an atv. first off NO production atv can match a snowmobile in performance, and this is clearly a snowmobile from the 2stroke sound. These people don't realize that the thundercat 1000 was a snowmobile for years until they came out with the 1000 ATV just recently.

you see in the reflection that he leaves his buddy when he starts out... and at 1:23 when he turns around you see trees moving by in the reflection...not to mention the wind noise...he's definitely moving.
Now if he's actually doing that speed..that's another story. But I bet he's doing at least 100mph

My 2000 Thundercat 1000 seems to have traction problems when I floor the gas the track just spins and it has 1.75 inch lugs and 140 woody studs. I cant seem to get it up to speed. It is almost bone stock. I would also like to know what was the stock HP rating for 2000 Thundercat's.

there is alot more power to be found in those engines. stock they are 175 HP (900cc) and 185 HP (1000cc). but once they are ported, tuned (carbs and ignition), better reeds and pipes you can push over 200 HP. then you just gotta get it to the snow better with a new clutch setup and maybe different gearing in the chaincase.
no matter what anyone says the Thundercats are still among the fastest production snowmobiles.

@Turbojeep23 900cc thundercats are in the 160hp range. 1000cc thundercats are 172hp stock. but yes with porting, reeds, pipes, and intake they will push over 200hp

@Firecat400EX Arctic Cat rated their bigger sleds conservatively. they say 160hp, but thats with stock jetting, which is way too rich. tune the carbs and you'll be at 175hp. (900cc) AC rated my ZR 700 at 115hp, but its closer to 128hp when dialed in.

I sold my 900 Thundercat. TOOOO FAST. The man that had it before me had it up to 138 MPH and still climbing!! It was also modded. At 60 MPH if you gunned it you really had to hold on tight!! Not a very practicle sled. I should of got a 600 instead.

lol my piped and clutched m-cat will do 145 no problem. and my t cat will do much better. 1000 triple is one of the best speed sleds hands down. most people just dont know how to maintain them. Now that black magic motorsports is gone i have to find somewhere else to get good race parts.

That clip is fake- that cat isnt moving. Its been jacked up . I had a T-Cat and it didnt pick up speed that fast because if it did you would be a dead man. Mine would go 110-113 on hard pack snow on a lake ,thats it. great sled though
