I know you can do more with the Needle ability, like making a huge spike pop out of your head (perhaps by holding up and attacking) and rolling in a ball of spikes (perhaps by dashing and attacking)

I haven't gotten the game yet (but I sure will,) but in most Kirby games, you can see the all moves you can use with an ability somewhere in the pause menu. You should try it.
