@MrSchiedsrichter Reducing grip works at regular circuits... all you're doing at a super speedway if you reduce grip is making it more likely people will have crashes and end up being sitting ducks for the other guys who are still probably doing at least 170mph even if you do your best to slow them down. Oval racing isn't what open wheelers are about anyway, leave it to the NASCAR guys.
@fhadgshfaj That's hilarious considering Musberger says 176 mph. F1 is so much faster than IRL it isn't even funny. The straights on F1 road tracks aren't nearly as long as Indy or other large oval tracks and they still hit 200+.
@Snyder2112 F1 cars may be more capable but the fact is that IRL/Indy is a more dangerous style of racing in part because they do reach greater speeds. add in the fact that they tend to get bunched up, something you never see in F1 outside the starting grid and its pretty obvious that the F1 safety doesn't face challenges as extreme as those of Indy.
@fhadgshfaj because it involves corners, a concrete ring of death isn't really a suitable racing environment... f1 is a more exciting sport to watch (- the crashes)
@bpham10 I want them to ban it, its a recipe for disaster. I don't think of it as a particularly good type of racing, its literary driving round in circles; f1 involves a proper amount of skill. Its not the most expensive and most highly rated type of motorsport for nothing
@bpham10 my opinion does nothing, but i dont agree with oval racing, people only watch it for the crashes and they happen to be particularly dangerous because everyone is so close and there are no run-off areas
@youneke they are notified immediately but at those insanely fast speeds even if you're a whole 5 football fields ahead of the crash you cant react and get out of the way unless you're lucky
Dana had hit debris from Carpenter's car just before impact, which caused damage to the right-front suspension and prevented effective braking.[citation needed]
ABC/ESPN's telemetry indicated Dana's car hit Carpenter's car at about 176 mph (283 km/h), while Scott Sharp, who was running alongside Dana, reported that he had slowed to approximately 50 mph (80 km/h) by the time of Dana's impact.
i heard that paul dana was split nearly in half at the waist from hitting ed carpenters engine and had sever neck and head injuries he never had a chance
hahahahahahahahah fucking dick head he deserved to die hahahahahaha should learn to fucking drive instead of crashing into walls then maybe just maybe he'll be alive hahha
This is the most pointless garbage of a comment I've ever seen posted. Luckily the internet is so anonymous that I can never find you, because if I did I would beat you until your face was unrecognizable. Whether they were a joke or not, keep the words you posted in mind for when someone close to you dies, so you can feel a much deeper pain than the Dana family did that day.

put an f1 car on, for example, spa-francorchamps or monza (2 high speed cicuits), and race it against an indy car and what do you think will win..

@Max1m1ll10n1 its truely sad, but, to be honest, you cant really do anything

@bpham10 thats because your racing around in a concrete ring; 30 cars and 200mph+ = a recipe for catastrophe

@Max1m1ll10n1 well what do you want them to do? have a speed limit? LOL, once you start to slip, theres no turning back, think about it aha
