Ha! That webside "SEDS" I helped write that website and serve it in the mid 1990's! Hahahahahaha That's a real throwback. I'll send the link to the other guys who wrote and maintained that site. It was served off an old Sun Sparc Station 10. It had nearly 5 years of constant uptime. We hit the internet big time during the impact of the SL-9 Comet fragments on Jupiter in 1994.
High five, brotha! i remember the first X Windows environment back in the 90's. I ran it on top of Mandrake and did testing for 3dfx. Somehow I even ended up liasion for the first Linux user groups for 3dfx. It was so effing cool!
Here's a few suggestions. Use either the Mate gui or E17,
For background image, do the thing they've done in this video: /watch?v=QKzVNMs2YII&feature=channel_video_title and install xscreensaver-gl-extra as well. Then people can make some very cool animated desktop backgrounds.
Make the disk space used and left visible in the Computer folder or below each disk name. I think you can transfer the data from baobab into nautilus somehow. Set ALSA as default, and install the ALSA panel applet.

Happy 20th birthday to GNU/Linux.
Linus really underestimated his work back in '91.
I wonder is that email address in the show notes still valid. ;-)
