Here's my thoughts on silver though....older silver coins, pre 1965 are almost totally silver. If our dollar collapses then the face values won't matter but the silver content will. Thoughts?
agreed.....however, that said...i think average folks would rather see a minted coin than just a silver round...at least in the beginning until they become accustomed to the idea.....
however i do not think you are correct on the pre 1965 coins...many of them are 80% or 90% silver....and not an ounce...the newer eagles are .999 silver and 1 ounce......i am certainly not a silver expert though, ...hope this helps...
Presently 2007 ASE's retail for $22 each, even a 2007-W should only be about $25. $29 for a 2007 ASE seems REALLY over priced, you may want to search around for another coin shop.
i bought the 07's on ebay and paid about $18 ea for them...if the coin shop will give me 25 of something for my 20....that is fine with me....don't really care what they charge for them....i'm just trading...but tkx for the heads up!..........:-)
agreed.....but it will not be 25 rounds....it is for 25 newer eagles.......anyway....we will see...i will do a vid after the deal and we will see what actually happens.....
Thanks for the update! I just looked in my 2010 Red Book and they have just about no info on the 2007. I guess they just had a low mintage year or something like that. The only guy that I can think of who'd know would be WhyMeWhySilver/SouthernLiberty. He once had a website that was great on the mintage numbers of the SAE, but I don't remember it now. Either way, great that you can get your hands on even more shiny. :-)
OK so Silver Eagles are real currency (coins) verses Business Rounds and the date thing........ lord knows, but I assume as legal coins that can be used in all debts is preferable? Even though Silver Eagles are only "worth" face value, perhaps this is why they sell at this silly premium?
Damned if I know, I am delirious from all these dirty mind thoughts LMAO
.....i like eagles....but i do not care what date....if i can trade 20 oz of 2007's and get 25 oz of 2009's....fine with me...:-).....as for generic rounds....if they are cheap....i buy.....
not sure how my colloidal turned out...it is really dark and has sediment in the bottom....maybe let it go too long....6 or 7 hrs....don't have my tester yes soooo....took a sip anyway...:-)
Hmmm, OK you need to run that through a coffee filter at least, that black is normal though I wouldn't drink it (the black stuff) you can always dilute with distilled.
do you have the "cat toy" laser pointer? you need to shine it through the glass every hour, stirring first and allowing to calm first
no...no laser...hubbie has a laser gun sight...what are you looking for with the laser? i have not stirred it...most of the dark is settled to the bottom...and there are small patches of dark sitting on top.....once the thing started going it really took off....i did figure once the tester comes...if it tests too strong i would just add more distilled...or if it tests low run it again.....waiting game at this point....i did order silver wire though...the set up as is, is too cumbersome....
the laser will not show a beam in the fresh distilled water (it IS pure and clear) once the process has begun every hour or so, shine the beam through the water it will begin to show a trace, illuminating the ions of silver in the water. you will, over time be able to tell the strength judging by how solid the beam is... Esp. with a PPM meter. Batteries will last a long time, but as they age the process will slow. clean your silver after every use, filter your colloid and store in the dark
Thanks for the video response skybirdbird - approved. :)
Awesome to hear of your trading opportunities! I share your confusion on how some people put such a high premium based on dates. Although as a coin collector I guess I know the thrill of completing a date run in the coin type you're collecting, and I've paid high premiums for certain rare dates before (in CND pennies mainly).
But I also agree with you that it's the SILVER we want, not silly date runs! The MORE the merrier. :D
Thanks, Why pay a premium to the U.S. government to stamp your bullion? Does the U.S. governments behavior warrant that? Just buy from APMEX or another wholesale minter.
you are probably correct...i just have a bit more comfort in the coin when it comes to using it.... more for others comfort really....i certainly don't care....

I would NOT recommend cleaning any rare coins.

I agree, 25 1 ounce silver rounds in exchange for 20 ASEs seems like a good deal to me too.
