UNLUCKY 13 or LUCKY 13???: "Should I Do It" peaked at No. 13 and spent a total of 16 weeks on Billboard's Top 100 in 1982...
{Was it bad luck to have stopped at #13 or good luck that it spent 16 weeks on the charts???}
This was the 2nd record by The Pointer Sisters to not only peak at No. 13 but to also stay in the Top 100 for 16 weeks, that record was "Fairytale" in 1974/75...
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SONG BY THE GIRLS, IT IS SO BOUNCY AND FEEL GOOD SONG, LOVE THESE GIRLS, JUNE DOES A GREAT LEAD, EVEN THOUGH I ALWAYS THOUGHT IT WAS ANITA ON LEAD. SILLY ME. LOL XXX
OMFG!!!! I USED TO PLAY THIS ON AN OLD 45 when I was just a tiny kid!!! I loved it then and had totally forgotten about it until now!! I love finding stuff like this!!!
@swooningtree I think this was filmed back when the audience was treated as sitting ducks. They were more "instructed" than the performers. Meaning... The producers probably wanted the sisters to be the sole focus of the video, and the audience was instructed to sit still so they wouldn't be a distraction. Happened a lot in the 70's and 80's.
God, the Pointer Sisters are INCREDIBLE! What massive talent! One should find them doing "Salt Peanuts" live at the San Fran Opera House. Too incredible.
.....i love martha and the vandellas---best, most soulfull motown group. ........motown was the pioneer, but the pointers brought the girl group to the supergroup level....... this song is interesting . the whole style of it is exactly the sound of martha and the vandellas. the sax-everything very old school. i love it. the pointers are doing the jerk and the pony in the background. they knew exactly what they were doing here......it's a tribute song to the old girl groups. kind of gutsy,
THEIR FASHION IS DEAD ON FOR 1981!!!!! JUST WONDERFUL....POINTER RULE 4 EVER---ALL GENRES: pop, R&B, soul, disco, jazz, country...They owned the 80s...
Such wonderful footage of the sisters early on in their career as a trio. Dispite the makeup of that time, they look healthy, happy and look like their having alot of fun too. Thank goodness for youtube, I can spend hours looking a rare video just like his one.
Terrific Sisters! Bring back memories.
