  • how do they fake the rain? big showers?

  • @kirkmeister555 - they fake rain by installing these pipes on the top of the roof that spray water everywhere below. And supposedly they make the water cloudy so it shows up better on film. These water rigs were installed on a lot of buildings downtown where they were shooting. Lots of water everywhere. It was very fun.

  • @slippyjenkins99 thats pretty cool

  • I wanna live in LA.

  • Great movie!

  • I effing hated trying to get to work every time they filmed but it was cool to watch them get the rain machine going.

  • THAT MEANS THAT YOU WERE LIKE 30 FT. AWAY FROM LEONARDO DICAPRIO AND JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT.

    OH.

    MY.

    GOSH.

  • I think a machine is creating the rain. You hear it at the beginning of the video just as the rain starts. Fascinating how Nolan is not only the director of the actors and cast, but also of the choreography of the film crew. Nice footage, thanks.

  • @SteamProVidz yea she controlled it

  • Well I just heard in the newspaper that Leo is in a movie that is being filmed in my town, I'm so excited!!!!

  • What about the rain? If they were filimg for days then how did they keep the rain going throughout the entire scene? Seems like a tough thing to CG in

  • @IIIB52 they controlled it, they made the rain rewatch the beginning

  • It's so odd to see the world functioning around the set of a movie...I think of every movie being inside it's own world. It's weird that it was, after all, just people doing things on a set piece-by-piece. Directors have amazing vision....

  • i live in LA and i got to see them filming!

  • This Scene in the movie was amazing

  • fucking amazing to see how its done. fucking amazing movie.

  • its amazing how crappy it looks in real life as opposed to the finished product we see on the big screen.

cool footage though from the apartment and to be "involved" in the film making process.

  • @Imalrightma lol my thoughts exactly

  • what is it like living where they're filming a movie where streets are blocked off and you can't leave your home and stuff? I don't live anywhere where action happens =( well I tell a lie, part of a movie was filmed near me. but not close enough to worry about.

  • @goodatlinerider - It was pretty fun! They blocked off the streets for the whole weekend and we were basically free to walk on the sidewalk to get to our place, but we couldn't linger around. I tried to stand on the sidewalk and watch them, but they said I had to keep walking (they were polite). The worst part was walking up every morning to Machine Gun fire. 8 Am! Fun fact: All those driving scenes were maybe filmed on maybe 4 city blocks here. They just reshot from different angles.

  • @goodatlinerider I lived in a part of Massachusetts where an action scene from "Surrogates" was being filmed and the city closed down my street. No one was allowed anywhere near the streets (including exiting my building) for the filmmakers wouldn't have interruptions for three days. They even placed cops along the block to ensure privacy. I remember hearing a fucking loud-ass helicopter hovering over my roof and it was annoying as hell. Not the best experience, nor was I star-struck.

  • they use water and jizz

  • how did they get the fake rain all the way across the street (width wise)?

  • @Adam9163 cranes are used to hold the rain towers. they had cranes on several rooftops. the rain towers are then attached to the cranes. the hoses and water is pumped by custom high pressure water trucks.

  • @martiniprincess - there were no cranes on the buildings. They were actually fitted with these rain machines....hoses I guess that ran across the roofs of all the buildings near the shoot.

  • @slippyjenkins99 sorry I misspoke - they just had one champion crane not on a rooftop - they did rig custom pipes & fitting for all the hose that they used that was snaked up the buildings for it. I do know however that they did use 11 of our water trucks to produce the rain.

  • lol! a filmation set! cool!!

  • cool

  • if anyone wonders why the rain looks whit they mix water with milk so the rain shows on camera

  • @batsy526 i didnt know they did that, cool to know :)

  • @batsy526 im afriad your a little off buddy. They don't do that

  • @KayWildcat umm yes they do been on many universal and wb tours and been on a set my father works with lights and electronics he was on the set of seven pounds

  • @batsy526 oh wow...really

    ew lol

so milk is being poured on them, how pleasant

  • @KayWildcat its a mix of water and milk so it shows up on screen

  • @batsy526 you said that already, i get the point

  • i wonder which one was leo
