The NFL Today....seeing this takes me back to Sunday afternoon's at my grandparents house, sitting in the living room floor with my grandad watching the Redskins every week...I was 11 years old, and these were simply golden times. The NFL is nothing today like it was then. Musberger, Cross, The Greek, and Pat Sumerall & John Madden....classic!!!!
That was a great clip of the predictions segment as it was then. One thing that I'd like to know-- what was the point of the standings board behind Brent and Jimmy? It was a nice touch to have it there (and it's something that I wish CBS would do in the future), but what was its purpose?
I HAD (emphasis on had; as my parents had the unfortunate tendency to reuse tapes {mostly for television preachers; being a PK...but not a wild one}) part of this week's Greek segment (just the part mentioning the bonus and beginning of the Cowboys-Redskins pick). This was recorded over for the second of two episodes of the short-lived D.C. Follies syndicated series that I have found.

Greek was 8-6 that week with his predictions. He did get the upset of Buffalo over the Colts.

Irvin and Sanders need their own sitcom.

Phil Hartman did an impressive impersonation of Jimmy the Greek on SNL.

Denver was 8-3-1; Never see another team with a tie in the NFL again; I miss the NFL of the 80's; Sucks Now!

Jimmy the Greek loved football, but he was also money-hungry and creepy. That's his legacy.

@ultraback29
a greek or a jew or both? at least back then there were no screaming weirdos narrating sports games.

Today's announcers are fine. Excuse me for not being a cynic like other sports fans and reserving the tough words for types like Jimmy the Greek.
