  • Dam HA I took and old chainsaw chain and took 1 link out of it and have been using it to trim my pecan trees with. and now they sell them for survival saw's.hel lall one needs to do is run buy your local small engine repair shop I bet they would let you have a chain

  • wow that went thru much faster than i thought. Good demo. Wood looked very dry.

  • @jrose2020 It was a branch that had recently fallen off a tree in our yard. It wasn't dry rotted or anything.

  • This looks like it's in fast forward when you're cutting haha. I take that this means they work damn well.

  • @hflat1 Yeah, these and the pocket chainsaws both work great.

  • I buy my chainsaw chains in a 100' spool for real cheap. I'm gonna go make me one of these right now!

  • What are the durability of these? about how long do you think they would last with weekly use?

  • @Eso1 They are pretty much a chainsaw blade, so it should last you for years. If it gets dull, they can be sharpened with a regular chainsaw jig.

  • @goingprepared I have a chain breaker that I use on my chainsaw and bike chains. I also buy chainsaw chains in 100" spools for CHEAP. I'm gonna go make one of these right now!

  • Be careful with the saw when you cut a very big log for a long time. The saw blade get extremely hot so I would let it cool before touching it.

  • how big is the blade (saw)

  • @specialFXzilla1 They are about 18".

  • im SOOO getting one for my BOB. i had been reading up on them for a while, but after seeing this, i know exactly what im getting. thank you. i almost got a wire saw

  • @TheSmackfan101 Wire saws are universally awful. This and the pocket chainsaw actually hold up under serious use and do their jobs very well.

  • Great video. I saved it on my playlist to share the knowledge.

  • I think some Balistol would be great for these types of saw... Non toxic as well... =)

  • its cheaper at cheaperthandirt

  • This is not heavy, very good idea, but a big knife is still my all purpose tool, and defender! Try skinning a rabbit with that thing, lol. I admit it would take me forever to saw a log with my knife.

  • @PoorMansPlato Try a saw, it is a lot easier than chopping something, also a lot lighter in your pack. still carry a knife but maybe a smaller lighter knife. A folding saw will do better on small stuff than any chainsaw and both will still be lighter than carrying a big knife.

  • that was amazing

  • what does it weigh?

  • nate, the wt. is 6 ounces including case.

    SaberCut Saw website:

    w w w ultimatesurvival com

Vaseline-saturated cottonballs are an option for fire starters (stored in dry container of course - ziplocs & pill bottles are 2 examples)

  • less than an axe or a hatchet

  • wow, nice done man! like it! =)

  • Just buy a replacement chainsaw chain from lawn mower shop

  • normal chainsaw blades only cut in one direction..this cuts in both...and has handles...

  • no.I mean Shortcut pocket chainsaw cuts in both directions. i have both "sabercut" & shortcut chain saws in my pocket.

plus. i've got folding shark saw for just in a case i have to build a little shacks in a woods.

  • i think i would definetly consider buying this. i hate breaking wood with my bare hands when im back packing

  • YEEEEAAAAAH BABY

  • is there diffrent lengths

  • Nope, just one length.

  • How does this compare to the pocket chain saw? About the same? There is about a 5 dollar price difference I think..

  • The handles are more comfortable and it seems to be a bit more sturdy, but the pocket chainsaw is smaller and lighter. They both cut pretty quickly.

  • Hmm. Well I think I would the pocket chainsaw then, just because the paracord handles work fine, unless i'm going to be doing a lot of cutting in which case I could just grab a couple sticks.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

  • what is maintenance like? I keep a toothbrush with me to clean out the teeth of my folding saw; used to oil it, but don;t anymore. With all the moving parts on the chain-saw here, how difficult is maintenance, and what exactly does it require?? Thanks!

  • A toothbrush should be fine. The chain is coated to help prevent rust, but wiping it off with a towel after using it in a wet environment is probably a good idea, as is putting on a bit of machine oil every now and then.

  • how thick was that tree?

  • Not very thick, maybe 4". I didn't want to bore my viewers with a 10 minute video of my sawing through a giant log. :)

  • ok, haha i see

  • I love that saw, I dont carry any other saw with me anymore.

  • awesome saw thanks for the video

    cheers
