  • i saw sprinfields last concert, long beach ca...bluebird never sounded so good , near the end of the concert a argument in the band arose and i remember some one smashed their guitar....canned heat opened the concert next came "somkestack lightin'"

  • This song is so amazing. Dewey Martin rules!

  • This makes me so happy (but also so sad such music doesn't make it today)!

  • A M A Z I N G S ON G !

  • Steve Stills looks sort of cool with that cowboy hat. Cowboy hats are cool, long hair is not. By the way, this doesn't sound at all like satisfaction.

  • @johnnystaccata U nuts?... sounds like a morphing of Day Tripper and Satisfaction.

  • sounds so much like satisfaction by rolling stones

  • Lord have mercy! I've never seen such a thing! That was Stills in the cowboy hat right? I'm sure that was Neil Young with the salad bowl haircut.

  • I'm going out on a limb here...Neil is one of the most creative musicians on the planet...then and now.

  • @BahamasBuilder Over rated.

  • @sonicdeath10 Bwhahahaha sorry couldn't resist.

  • @sonicdeath10 Bwhahahaha sorry couldn't resist.

  • @BahamasBuilder Bwhaahaha sorry couldn't resist.

  • @BahamasBuilder Too bad he couldn't sing.

  • Who's the badass in the darkness with his back to the crowd?!?!

  • @MrFrostyPsycho I'd say Bruce Palmer

  • @MrFrostyPsycho That is something they did on this program. The often had a drummer portrayed like that.

  • IS That NIEL YOUNG?? WOW Cuz the moment i heard that voice, hhhmmm Anyone?

  • @freedom2beus Yes that is Neil Young, musical genius.

  • this version nice :) part favorite 1:13 orgams

  • 2012 IT'S STILL RELEVANT!!!

  • Where are back-up vocals coming from? They can't be lip-syncing! I wish our music was in the pocket like this again, compact songs w/ good hooks and back-up vocals.

  • Interesting tidbit about this performance. The bass player, who had his back to the audience, was actually NOT a bass player at all, but was their non-bass playing road manager.

  • That said, rock was much better then. Humongously better than now.

  • It's prety sad how stupid things were back then.

    Neil Young always rocked.

  • Neil Young at 22 yrs. old. Awesome. Loved that fringed jacket in "The Springfield". The first band with harmonic leads. And awesome writing talent. Neil, Richie, and Steve. "Long may you run!"

  • I was born 1946, a good time to grow up with such good music, lots of good groups from the 60's and 70's!!!!!!

  • 68 people must be fucked in the head, this is real music!!

  • I love it! This really kicks butt for 1967 mainstream TV !!! Thanks for posting.

  • uh? 'i cant get no satisfaction' anyone?

  • @soopysalles Are you talking about the riff that The Rolling Stones "borrowed" from Martha & the Vandellas' "Nowhere to run"?

  • thats just so freaking cool when they swing into Mr. Soul....damn!!!

  • The audio works...Mr. Soul, one of Neil's greatests. For What It's Worth, one of the Sixties' greatests.

  • What's up with the bassist having his back to the camera/crowd?

  • @RICKBLAISDELL Good question; could it be that he was a replacement for somebody who was either ill or had just left the band? That would explain why his face would not be on camera though his presence was required for the performance.

  • I hate that hat

  • A number of posts here are confusing Buffalo Springfield members with The Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers and CSN&Y.....Steve Still and Neil Youn of BS went on to form CSN&Y with David Crosby coming from The Byrds and Brit Grahm Nash of The Hollies. A number of ex-Byrds ended up in Burrito Bros but no one came from Buff Springfiled. A couple BS members went on to form Poco.

  • Thanks for uploading this video.FUCK WARNER ASSHOLES...

  • Buffalo Springfield consisted of Stephen Stills, Neil Young, Richie Furay, Dewey Martin, and Bruce Palmer, later replaced by Jim Messina. David Crosby was never an active member of this band. Stills and Young both played lead guitars. And often hermonized their riffs. This was a band that lasted only 2 years, but made it to the "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" in 1995.

  • all fender amps no effects

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ¡NEIL YOUNG!

  • This better stay up or heads will roll ! ! !

  • It's you.

  • Is it just me or are these guys too friggin' cool ?

  • Comment removed

  • some guy sent me a message saying Buffalo Springfield did not have some of the same guys that were in the Byrds. What about Crosby and I forget there was someone else, too. Is'nt it true ? I'm a fan of Roger McGuinne 'koz his twelve-string sound is un-real and wicked-cool. Neil had a place in Topanga Canyon in '69 so he could be close to Laurel Canyon where they played all the time. They were a phenomenon and he always said "it's all about the music"

  • @ubelieveinme2oo Young and Stills were of Buffalo Springfield, Crosby was in the Byrds, and Nash was in the Hollies, if I remember correctly.

  • @belalakaperal Thanks, you are correct. I love The Buffalo and I always loved The Byrds ever since I heard McGuinne's 12 string guitar. The Buffalo was famous especially @ Laurel Canyon around '67 and Neil had a place in Topanga around '69 and I read that Kathy was a Buffalo groupie, too. Remeber The Airplane omg !! they were wicked cool, too!! Crosby said "eight miles" was about how they had never been in an airplane b4. Have a nice day.

  • This is good but, What the hell?!? Why would they start off with For What it's Worth and kick into this. They must have been stoned off thier asses.

  • @pucksterz12 The TV booking was probably a requirement for them to play their hit "For What It's Worth"...so they started with that and then revolted and cleverly jumped into "Mr. Soul."

  • @mc2NY : that's what it seemed like... awesome!

  • @mc2NY Considering that they are miming to a track, I highly doubt they did this without the TV show's advance knowledge.

  • @torchkit I think they are playing this live; you don't need an "invisible" bassist if it's just miming to a track.

  • @KaptKan1 From their bio: "...a live performance on the television show Hollywood Palace - Springfield's non-bass-playing road manager held a bass with his back to the camera while the band mimed to a prerecorded track."

  • @torchkit I sit corrected, LOL. That is weird, even for those times.

  • So tripped out

  • Wow, a lively version of Mr. Soul, not sure what it's from since it's clearly not the album version. Nice to see the guys having a good time while stinging the air with guitar.

  • they hung around BFLO. NY. Niel was buddyies with rick james thats right bitch!rick james!

  • @TheOffcialACCFans

LOL! I hope you're joking. With all due respect, the Band took their name from a company called Bufffalo Springfield which made bulldozers, and steamrollers.

And as for Rick James. Yeah, Rick James not only hung out with (Niel) Neil, but he also sang in a band they were in called "The Minah Birds," until the U.S. Navy caught up with James who was AWOL.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • I hope they don't disable the sound on this one!

  • Thank you for posting. Who is the drummer? He is a doll.

  • @TheBach2rock Dewey Martin

  • Guess Young was Emo Before Emo was Cool with that jet Black Hair

  • Uma beleza de video. Que legal ver Neil Young cantando uma de suas primeiras grandes composiçoes,Mr. Soul !

  • can someone tell me what kind of guitars neil and stills are playing?

  • @ensinitas Neil's on a Gretsch (looks like a 6120, but I'm not sure) and Stephen looks to be playing some kind of Guild.

  • Woe, the sound is back, finally. must've been more than a year no sound.

  • good song man! thank you for share.

  • Dewey was such a fucking bad ass. Rest in peace sweet brother!

  • For what it's worth--- SIKE!

  • So glad that they them who ever it was turned the sound back on!

  • The video and audio is fine what are guys talking about?

  • Why re we talking about Warner?

I think this is a great video.

  • Poor, poor Warner Music Group. They're only trying to shore up their obsolete business model. That's much easier than coming up with a new business model. Their feelings get hurt when their lack of imagination is pointed out. Let's not be so harsh.

  • Boycott Warner Bros. I for one will not buy anything from them. I will never again purchase one music CD ever. Period. Someone should put this video on their own website and simply stick a link to it on YouTube.

  • shame on you warner

  • Warner provides a good excuse to buy used.

  • The entire concept of TV appearances and MTV type videos was to advertise the band and music to sell records/CD's/tickets.

These old videos are still useful for that purpose and should be viewed that way

by the people that own the material. That they are not is disappointing.

Damn shame. Cutting off the nose to spite the face.

  • TimeAOLWarner can fuck off.

  • Great sound quality!!!!

  • Warner bros. sucks !

  • gee whiz. shouldn't these songs be in the public domain by now?

  • Thank you Warner for disabling the audio on one of the few live recordings of the Buffalo Springfield.

    Pathetic.

What do you stand to lose by allowing someone to see and hear a low grade video of one of the most influential bands in rock history.

This illustrates why the music industry is in such sad shape. The record companies dont give a crap about the music, artists nor the fans.

Businesses that display such contempt for their customers are doomed to fail.

    Shame on you.

  • @Gener77 FYI, this isn't "live" its just the alt version of "Mr Soul" from the studio sessions for the single. They are lip-synching and the amps are off or the volume is down on the guitar amps.

  • @Gener77 You couldn't be more right, bucko!

  • You Tube just sucks!!

  • I lived 1967 [ one of the last good years, but anything anti-war was very TABOO. Notibly, B. Springfield was anti-war! and all of the era's youth were anti...also. As a Vietnam Vet, I can't say I wholly approved but understood! And I think that if todays youth would stand-up against war...maybe { just Maybe ] we would'nt be in two or three wars now. Long Live The Buffalo Springfield....poppa

  • F*** you WMG

  • Fuck you WMG

  • WHERE CAN I FIND THIS VDEIO WITH THE AUDIO TRACK!

  • @BernaschGuitar

    watch?v=3V8VvEzuQ6Y

    Enjoy

  • @PeasGraveny Hey thanks a lot man! I've been looking for this video with the audio part of it as well for so long!

  • @PeasGraveny Thanks man. I downloaded it, backed it up on 3 machines, converted it, etc., etc. Screw WMG

  • @mbtjr Amen to that.

  • Hey, what's that sound?

    Oh, there is none.

  • @cfortunato58 Amusing!

  • What total assholes WMG are. No WONDER the recording industry is dying. And good riddance.

  • the big companies should be thankful for the people who dredge up all these forgotten performances - how much more of this stuff would have gotten destroyed without youtube -

  • Music belongs to the people! The idiots at WMG might have thought about the people who might buy their products if they were able to HEAR THE MUSIC!!

  • Disgusting

  • This is a really great version of this WHEN YOU CAN HEAR IT WARNER. At least I got to hear this before they pulled the plug.

  • We want you Big Warner!

  • Take off the video 2 ..

  • what we sing against in our youth, we seem to become in old age...thanks WMG for the perfect example...

  • I love the Buffalo Springfield. they had many of the legendary guys that were in the Legendary Birds. i lov that legendary sound of the 12 string guitar. chris hillman is an un real legend.

  • @ubelieveinme2oo Assuming you're talking about the Byrds, no one from Buffalo Springfield was in the Byrds, and certainly not Chris Hillman. I think you may be confusing your bands.

  • fuck wmg. and they wonder why people download shit for free.

  • great sound

  • Well if you really want to see this vid then the movie "journey through the past" has it and a bunch of other tight performances like alabama, words, southern man, find the cost of freedom..... its tight

  • WARNER CAN EAT MY ANUS

  • That's pretty chicken shit not to allow the audio. What, they think it will make a difference in their profits if somebody hears the sounds from the video? It's more likely to make people interested in the music.

  • Whatever cunting fucktard killed the audio on this can have a nice long lunch on my scab covered nutsack!

  • "STEP OUT OF LINE, THE MAN COME AND TAKE YOU AWAY".

  • yup, a soundless video is pretty worthless, but not worth losing it...

  • Fuck warner fuck tha system and fuck me too ;-)) have a nice fucking day all ;-))

  • Bullshit WMG

  • It's just plain mean! I wanted to show this to some friends but they took the sound away. WTF. Gotta have sound man or it's like having a cool car with no gas to put in it!

  • Hey blabblab1212- you blab blab too much!!! What the fuck does anything you have to say have to do with Buffalo Springfield man?!

Anyways, I thought copyright laws were different for live recordings? I remember watching this ( when the audio was still intact) and it certainly didn't seem like a mimed song. I don't understand why WMG censors stuff like this that is very hard to find? If this was released commercially I'd understand....

  • @phoneyfresh To those who are too busy listening to their Ipods and can't find the rabbit hole....not a thing.

  • God bless America!!! (Just America though, no one else)!

  • You have to love the fact that the government, schools, and the medical-pharmacological communites are all working together for our benefit. What is missing though is the military. Why can't the military come in and train the young kids to be soldiers starting in preschool. No more of this enlistment horseshit! The kids could be shown war cartoons for starters and be issued a helmet, fatigues & toy guns. If they are good, take their meds and behave, then they could shoot live ammo.

  • @blabblab1212 You are way too funny. Cheers.

  • Many of these individuals who come from economically substandard situations have "behavior disorders". So in an act of American corporation (sorry, I meant cooperation!), these kids are being helped by a joint effort of the government, school systems and pharma-medical community. They benefit from three services. Medication is the answer to these "defectives" and once their minds "adjust" to the medication they can be helped for life. These meds will change their "defective" brain chemistry.

  • Good old America! The very best schools in the world. In fact, over 6 million of our brightest young minds are now benefiting from the advances of science in the form of pharmaceuticals. Are they being trained to be scientists you ask? Not exactly, but they are helping doctors to remain economically viable for centuries to come. 6 million of these bright young minds have been labeled as "defective" so it is necessary to reprogram them pharmaceutically.

  • stop, hey. what's that sound? everybody look what's going down!

  • @hoochis Excellent!

  • you would think that the more people that heard this great song ,the more they would go out and buy the albums on cd,we would be happy and so would WMG.by disabeling the audio it is stopping people from digging it and making money for the company!! oh well!!! look at the pretty pictures!!!

  • I actually have this on video somewhere

  • This is my favorite video I was gonna show my kids.. ASSHOLES

  • BULLSHIT!

  • Neil Young's gonna have to slap a bitch

"For What It's Worth" - Buffalo Springfield cover

  • WMG stands for Warner Music Group. They are greedy pigs who want to take things they DID NOT make, but bought right to so they could make money off of it. Avoid anything by Time-Warner and Warner Music Group. They are pigs.

  • @tremoloreverb god damm PIGS 4 sure, fuck the corperate world, im sick of this shit by a few GREEDY assholes, its everywhere and im fed up, fuck WMG pigs!!!!!

What a load of greedy corporate bullshit.

    Fucking money grubbers ruin everything.

  • FFFUCK WMG...it is possible to unlock, tough please check for WMG-youtube

  • Very Easy Equation: WMG is GREEDY so, DON'T but their music. The boycott starts here and now.

  • MR Soul was an early Neil Yoiung number

  • This was maybe one of the 5 best videos ever better audio disabled.

  • i'll just have to cue up the vid with the mp3 of this song i stole

  • arrrggghhhh!!! ditooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • Does You Tube compile viewing statistics on You Tube viewers? Does WMG eat a big weenie? Are there too many traffic lights in every town and city? Does every town in the North have shitty roads? Is a Wal Mart "greeter" nothing more than a dressed up security guard? When you walk into Wal Mart don't you feel like you are walking into an Orwellian nightmare? Are Democrats and Republicans just opposite wings of the same bird? Does Sarah Palin eat large bananas for glowing health?

  • WEIRD MANAGEMENT GEEKS!

  • WE'RE MOSTLY GREEDY!

  • FUCK WMG!!

  • fuck you wmg, fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you. it's not like he stole it, fucking dumb asses

  • come on guys! This isn't hurting anybody!!

  • Oh, I get it.

WMG is now trying to promote "Silent Videos," just like the "Silent Movie," days, circa 1900-1930."

Sorry, it doesn't work for me.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 Stop shouting! I had this video with sound and all (well it needed more cow bell) it was great .. a really great video, it was. If you give me a hundred I can turn the year from 1925 to 1967. The guy writes about a site beyond ...com worth a look but I am going to bed..

  • @11xzxzxz I'm sure I have this video, somewhere in my favs, if not taken down by THEM.

    Oh, I am whispering.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 Probably won't work but perhaps upload the same video with just the sound on another video with say just lyrics or pics and trick the censures. and play concurrently.

  • @rockinroller7 Neil was so often pissed at Steve. Neil has his back to Steve and Neil moves further away by design. Steve patter dances around to draw attention from Neil. Dewey rolls his eyes. Nah, Dewey doesn't even realize what is going on and doesn't care as he is just so glad to have lucked out and been in a great band.

  • @11xzxzxz I don't think it was Neil's anger as much as it was Stephen's.

Neil has never been a joiner, and he left the band, pursuing his own sound, which began an even deeper anger on Stephen's part toward Neil.

Then we were left with CS&N, and for whatever reason, that shortly became, C&N. I believe Neil and Stephen's "sounds," clashed, and the same with C&N.

As you can see in the interviews with Stills and Young at "Rockit," they have mended many fences over the years.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • @rockinroller7 You are right. I was focusing too much on this video but now I remember you mentioned that Steve was immensely jealous of Neil. Just like you are of me!!.

  • What happened to “rockin in the free world!” Oh yeah, it’s WMG! You gotta love Neil Young! His heart is in the right place&hasn't changed a bit after all these years.Long may you run Neil, with your WARM heart shining in the sun! Work it Stevie baby, work it, Buffalo Springfield is great!Video would be much better with audio, but watching it in silence brings out imagination. Thanks! "Marlon Brando,Pocahontas,& me" Neil wears this attire in honor of native tribes, rock on Mr. Soul!

  • Fuck WMG!!!!!

  • Don't purchase anything from WMG. Greedy b*st*rds, they glory days are over.

  • search out neil young "mr soul" on the warnerbrosrecords site on youtube...get it playing, then click the enlarge square & watch these images with it...or find other buffalo springfield song. i'm glad they didn't remove the whole thing & left us the images...(if they've redone it themselves, they could put that in their little NOTICE blurb so we could go look at it yet give them credit! :)

  • Wimpy Moneygrubbing Geeks.

  • As old as this is who cares.WMG,thanks for screwing up my memories. I will never buy a new product from you .You are greedy jerks. Where else can we see old videos of old music. A--holes just do not get it.You are losing your customers as I speak.GOOD!!

  • WMG STANDS FOR ---- WHITE MASSTERBATINGS GAYS --- JERKOFFS !!!!

  • @GodfreRayKing Or "Wussy Money Grabbers!"

  • WMG you will never ever get my money...you loser scumbags

  • this is pointless!!! Fecking WMG!!!

  • WMG, You bunch of greedy rat bastards! May your wells all run dry, your women be barren and your crops all fail... and, and, and I hope your dog dies you greedy pricks!

  • Just remember one thing! Corporations are looking out for your best interest. Not theirs. Heck! Corporations built this country. They did it by always being fair and looking out for their employees. That is why 95% of the wealth is owned by 95% of the people. Good old America. Always looking out for the little guy. Good honest politicians whose only agenda is to help working people. I just can't say enough about how great America is..............

  • @blabblab1212 funny........

  • @hoochis yet somewhat sad at the same time...........

  • @blabblab1212 true :'(

  • @blabblab1212 That was sarcasm, right?
