12/30/2010 RIP Dr. Billy Taylor - The Ambassador of Jazz. I took a class that he taught and had the honour of working with him once. It is an experience I will treasure forever. He was a true jazz genius.
RIP Dr. Taylor - The Anbassador of jazz.. I took a class that he taught and had the honour of working with him once. It is an experience I will treasure forever. Billy Taylor a true jazz genius and a great loss to the music world.
JVG- thanks for the post, I have seen both live but not together. These 2 guys ironically were two people named by Tatum as being some of the best of the crop coming up in the mid 50's. The audio of this are in Dick's Jazz Piano PC program where you can hear Tatums bass toned midwestern "natural newscaster" drawl. Super - I hope you have more!
Great JVG, thanks for uploading that. Those guys are having waaay too much fun, for another great piano duo you might check Jay Mcshann with Ralph Sutton, Last of the Whorehouse Piano Players is the cd.

I think it's "Fine and Dandy", or something like that...(sorry)not the Lady is a Tramp..

Yes it's "Fine and Dandy." Dick Hyman also recorded a twin piano version with Dick Wellstood.
Love to see Billy Taylor jammin with his legendary colleagues. Always a class act!
