This was the 1973-4 season when 2 clubs, Bristol Rovers in the 3rd & Leeds in the 1st, both went unbeaten for several months from the start of the season.
As a Brighton supporter, I saw this game at the Goldstone. At 1-2, we thought we had a good chance of getting somethng from the game. Brian Powney, goalkeeper, was dropped after this game but was recalled later in the season to play Rovers at Bristol. Although playing with a damaged hand, I believe the game finished as a draw. Powney left the club at the end of the season after 12 years service and became Player /Manager of Southwick. Playing in mid-field, he led them to a County League title.
Did you hear the boos from Brighton fans?

I'm still trying to figure out why Cloughie took the Brighton job in the first place. It looks like it was a no-win situation.
