I don't want to get too technical on why your blocking form is bad, so I'll just say this. Although you were able to block guys almost twice your size you are putting yourself in a VERY dangerous position. If any one of those guys takes one step the wrong way and the crown of your head meets with their sternum, there is a good chance that you could end up paralyzed. 1st rule taught as a lineman, "Keep your head up."

Well you're partly correct. I was both a wrestler, and football player in high school. Coincidentally I'm also quite large, so I was a lineman. The two sports have completely different techniques, although knowledge of both sports will benefit you in each. The main reason he was able to dominate these guys is because they clearly have very little agility, or technique.

I thought wrestling would dominate except for in situations like when they're running really fast and charging at each other or a guy wants to keep running while he's getting dragged down. Because the guys he was blocking clearly had very little actual football experience they failed to realize that because he had his head down all they had to do was short stop and push on his back. He would immediately fall forward on his face leaving the quarterback free. Balance is key on the offensive line, and HTWW is off balance.
Nobody is going to be able to throw him down if he already has them wrapped and then he would throw them down. Its the ultimate way of tackling people. He put his head to the side, grabbed their legs and took them down. Nobody would ever be able to throw him down because his knees were perfectly bent which created perfect balance. He had great balance, he had great tackling, and it was efficient. Think of what your writing before you post.
I wasn't talking about throwing him. All that is required is to quick stop, or stutter step backwards, to draw him off balance. Then it's as easy as pushing on his back and he'll be face first in the mud. He has balance up until the time when his eyes look down. I don't want to get too technical on why your blocking form is bad, so I'll just say this. Although you were able to block guys almost twice your size you are putting yourself in a VERY dangerous position. If any one of those guys takes one step the wrong way and the crown of your head meets with their sternum, there is a good chance that you could end up paralyzed. 1st rule taught as a lineman, "Keep your head up."

For those arguing over the legality of the maneuvers he did, he said it's mudbowl and thus it has no rules. HOWEVER, those of you bring up the point that there are obviously SOME rules. We could get into a debate over the literalness of "no rules" but did you guys ever think that maybe "no rules" = not following standard rules? They probably decided to allow a lot of things otherwise not allowed in regulation football. Use your heads!

The reason he was able to tackle -- or should I say, take down -- all those guys who were evidently significantly bigger than him is because he used to wrestle. That was all simple double-leg technique. I often wondered how a football player would do if he knew some wrestling. Guess I was right. ^_^

Well you're partly correct. I was both a wrestler, and football player in high school. Coincidentally I'm also quite large, so I was a lineman. The two sports have completely different techniques, although knowledge of both sports will benefit you in each. The main reason he was able to dominate these guys is because they clearly have very little agility, or technique.

Yes, you could very well be right. I never thought of football techniques. I thought wrestling would dominate except for in situations like when they're running really fast and charging at each other or a guy wants to keep running while he's getting dragged down. I obviously am not very knowledgeable about football techniques so I'll take your word on it.

Because of the difference in objectives in football from wrestling. The abilities, and maneuvers at your disposal are similar, but achieve different things. Because the guys he was blocking clearly had very little actual football experience they failed to realize that because he had his head down all they had to do was short stop and push on his back. He would immediately fall forward on his face leaving the quarterback free. Balance is key on the offensive line, and HTWW is off balance.

Nobody is going to be able to throw him down if he already has them wrapped and then he would throw them down. Its the ultimate way of tackling people. He put his head to the side, grabbed their legs and took them down. Nobody would ever be able to throw him down because his knees were perfectly bent which created perfect balance. He had great balance, he had great tackling, and it was efficient. Think of what your writing before you post.

I wasn't talking about throwing him. All that is required is to quick stop, or stutter step backwards, to draw him off balance. Then it's as easy as pushing on his back and he'll be face first in the mud. He has balance up until the time when his eyes look down. That is when he is most vulnerable, and when he can easily be avoided. I did think about what I was talking about, thank you for your attempted reply. Even if he got the legs you could still sprawl out of it.

actually the pads are like boxing gloves, they are designed to protect the person wearing them, and actually allow you to hit harder. not only is football without pads played, it is done with fewer injuries and it's called rugby.
