Fuck Apple! Apple had a console, the Pipin, and it SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED!!!!! Even if apple could make a good home/handheld console it would get dickslaped by Nintendo and Sony at the same time!
I think Nintendo got it right with the eShop on the 3DS. It is WAY more accessible than the DSiWare shop. Right off the bat they tell you new releases and hot sellers and it's fast and easy. They just need to get better micro-sized games, as you said.
Nintendo is to games what Apple is to computers, more or less. Thy make quality products, but some of the things they do businesswise can be facepalm-worthy at times. That's just me, though.

Their handheld would need buttons too, and probably most importantly, allow people to download the same games as iPhone and iPad! That's it!
But then you have these full fledged games that are total rip offs of AAA titles by Gameloft. It's a guilty pleasure playing them, but I always prefer the original games! I just can't believe Gameloft gets away with this!
Apple could make a video game console, but guess what? It would try to be like Microsoft: All Multimedia and no real care for games! You may as well just re-invent the Apple TV, create a video game controller and call that your "Apple Video Game system" the "iPlay!" Wow how did I think of a name like that? I love my iPhone, iPhone games look fucking amazing compared to 400x240 Nintendo DS games, iPhone games cost $15.99 MAX (for Square Enix titles because they are price gougers by nature)....

iPhone beats the 3ds. Like 5x the processing power, around 8x the ram, a lot more memory so you can store your games on the phone, better resolution screen, instead of etc im just gonna say better everything. You can play games including but not limited to: nazi zombies, assasins creed, dead space (was awesome), need for speed, sims3, madden nfl 11, rock band, battlefiend: bad company, mortal kombat, skate, mirrors edge, and the almighty tetris.

I do have a Apple iPhone and I have the Nintendo 3DS and as much I can tell, Apple won't win agains Nintendo in matters of being a gaming system but because it has important things for people which Nintendo cannot offer. But on the other hand, some people don't want to pay that much for a iPhone and get a cheaper Cell Phone and most likely but a 3DS :D

Another thing that Idevices excel at is online multiplayer, with no need for friend codes to play online, and some games boasting Gameloft live( xbox live for iOS) the ease of playing with friends or complete strangers online is a walk in the park. I just hope nintendo can really increase the ease of online with the 3DS if not they lost my vote because online and fluid controls especially for Fps games were what set me off me ds lite. You also have to consider the fact that Idevices not online
As it stands right now apple could never win in an all out gaming war and that's only because people really don't see Idevices as gaming systems. I play my ds every once in awhile because there are good games. But I enjoy my time more with my iPod touch because the games have been rapidly evolving into real gaming experiences Ex: Real Racing 2, Modern Combat 2, Nova2, and last but not least Dead Space. These games look way better then any game on the ds and they play smooth with smart controls.
I play a few games on my iPod Touch and, like you said, they're simply time-wasters. Very rarely do I find myself playing those games outside of a study hall or dead moments at work. Not to mention Apple is a way of life for most people. I almost believe that gaming, at least the kind associated with Nintendo, would be "above" Apple fans. If Apple made a handheld, it'd be interesting, but I don't think it'd do well. Nintendo has Mario, and Mario has always stood the test of time.
Meh I have an iPhone the game apps are just timewasters not actual games. I would never actually consider playing them if I had a REAL game lying around and that's why I think apple will never cross the borderline of casual gaming.
Apple doesn't make games, they only offer up a product that allows them too. Nintendo makes hardware and software giving them an obvious advantage. also they have been doing this for over 20 years apple on the other hand has no experience and really none of the same 3rd party support that Nintendo does.
I dont think apple will be able to produce a good gaming system, and you can tell your priorities already through their OS. If you have noticed, apple has made no attempts to support many games on the computer, and many will not work or will only work with many glitches. The way I have always seen it is that mac is for work and pc is for everything else. It's only when a company starts to experiment with the gaming market that something will come out, and our first clue will be with their OS.

Well growing up with every Hand-held Nintendo has ever made... I have to stick to the company that has created so many lasting and positive childhood memories for me. This is where Nintendo really shines at, portable gaming from children...allll the way to adults who grew up knowing the quality and value of having a nintendo gameboy and so on. Personally, I'm as excited as a 6 year old on Christmas day about the 3DS.
true thing sega game gear i had one and so did one other friend while my friends had gameboy colors but the game gear had great games and better graphics it just wasnt gameboy so no one knew about it or cared.
With the large following that apple has, I wouldn't be surprised if they do better than nintendo. Heck, the psp gave nintendo a run for it's money (enough for sony to have the funds for a psp 2).
As long as nintendo keeps the top notch games on their system, the 3DS will do fine (especially since you can turn the feature off, which is sure to please those who get sick). The GB, GBA, and DS were so popular wasn't so much of the name nintendo, instead, it was the pleathora of great titles.
Well, emulation is definitely a way to go. If it has worked with any of the modern day consoles, it can definitely work (or at least try to work with it). It's funny to think that Nintendo has stayed this long because it was once a trading card company in comparison to Microsoft, Sony and Apple, which all dealt with computers. True, if Nintendo want to stay as King of the Mountain, they'll have to scout out for info, use it to their advantage and just work it out. The 3DS looks hopeful.

You have to applaud Nintendo for surviving as a gaming company for the very first generation of gaming. They have had a console for every generation:
1st - Color TV Game
2nd - Game and Watch + many arcade machines (yes no home console but there was still hardware)
3rd - NES
4th - SNES
5th - N64
6th - GameCube
7th - Wii
8th - Wii U
Even if they do eventually stop making there own hardware, they'll still be an important part of gaming history.

Problem is with the Iphone you gotta have a contract or plan with a service provider to have 1 plus pay for the phone, plus the games. So nobody is gonna buy an iphone for the games alone. Theres not a chance because you gotta pay like 100 bucks a month just to use that piece of shit!

I do have a Apple iPhone and I have the Nintendo 3DS and as much I can tell, Apple won't win agains Nintendo in matters of being a gaming system but because it has important things for people which Nintendo cannot offer. But on the other hand, some people don't want to pay that much for a iPhone and get a cheaper Cell Phone and most likely but a 3DS :D

They can't be compared. He is comparing their handheld market, which apple is winning. The thing is the games i play on the iphone is different than games I would play on my ds. They give the player a different mindset. I look at the games on an iphone and use them to make the commute to school short.

Nintendo=Mario. Apple=uh, hmm, I guess they really don't have a gaming mascot, do they? I don't think Apple can crush Nintendo unless they created something that could topple Mario, or if they somehow got Mario on the iPhone or whatever. The App store does have some great games, but nothing so great that it would be worth purchasing the whole phone for. Nintendo, however, will recruit buyers with the mere mention of a Mario Kart game to come. It's all about having fun, and Mario is fun!

Another thing that Idevices excel at is online multiplayer, with no need for friend codes to play online, and some games boasting Gameloft live( xbox live for iOS) the ease of playing with friends or complete strangers online is a walk in the park. I just hope nintendo can really increase the ease of online with the 3DS if not they lost my vote because online and fluid controls especially for Fps games were what set me off me ds lite. You also have to consider the fact that Idevices not online

As it stands right now apple could never win in an all out gaming war and that's only because people really don't see Idevices as gaming systems. I play my ds every once in awhile because there are good games. But I enjoy my time more with my iPod touch because the games have been rapidly evolving into real gaming experiences Ex: Real Racing 2, Modern Combat 2, Nova2, and last but not least Dead Space. These games look way better then any game on the ds and they play smooth with smart controls.

I play a few games on my iPod Touch and, like you said, they're simply time-wasters. Very rarely do I find myself playing those games outside of a study hall or dead moments at work. Not to mention Apple is a way of life for most people. I almost believe that gaming, at least the kind associated with Nintendo, would be "above" Apple fans. If Apple made a handheld, it'd be interesting, but I don't think it'd do well. Nintendo has Mario, and Mario has always stood the test of time.

Apple doesn't make games, they only offer up a product that allows them too. Nintendo makes hardware and software giving them an obvious advantage. also they have been doing this for over 20 years apple on the other hand has no experience and really none of the same 3rd party support that Nintendo does.

I dont think apple will be able to produce a good gaming system, and you can tell your priorities already through their OS. If you have noticed, apple has made no attempts to support many games on the computer, and many will not work or will only work with many glitches. The way I have always seen it is that mac is for work and pc is for everything else. It's only when a company starts to experiment with the gaming market that something will come out, and our first clue will be with their OS.

Well growing up with every Hand-held Nintendo has ever made... I have to stick to the company that has created so many lasting and positive childhood memories for me. This is where Nintendo really shines at, portable gaming from children...allll the way to adults who grew up knowing the quality and value of having a nintendo gameboy and so on. Personally, I'm as excited as a 6 year old on Christmas day about the 3DS.

With the large following that apple has, I wouldn't be surprised if they do better than nintendo. Heck, the psp gave nintendo a run for it's money (enough for sony to have the funds for a psp 2).
As long as nintendo keeps the top notch games on their system, the 3DS will do fine (especially since you can turn the feature off, which is sure to please those who get sick). The GB, GBA, and DS were so popular wasn't so much of the name nintendo, instead, it was the pleathora of great titles.

Well, emulation is definitely a way to go. If it has worked with any of the modern day consoles, it can definitely work (or at least try to work with it). It's funny to think that Nintendo has stayed this long because it was once a trading card company in comparison to Microsoft, Sony and Apple, which all dealt with computers. True, if Nintendo want to stay as King of the Mountain, they'll have to scout out for info, use it to their advantage and just work it out. The 3DS looks hopeful.
