it was 1966 when i first saw him play. His band did a gig in a backyard one summer evening. Then I saw him sing at Bergner's Fashion show. Then at Coop in 68. We both graduated in '69, and it was U of I and Irving Azoff from there. Saw him at The Greek in LA which Rich & Marty Schlink treated me to. Then in San Diego Harbor Island. Rich sent me the full story on Auld Land Syne and loved actually learning the details ...will be back in Peoria for the Bergan Class Reunion july 9-11, 2010

I was at a fundraiser for DF/ prostate cancer about a yr ago. One of the performers commented , "D love ur stuff, but can you lighten up a bit".

I love his stuff but I have often wondered where the sad, depressing mode that a majority or his stuff comes from. Did it come from his marriages , or what ..?

I spent a couple of days looking for Mountain Bird Ranch last summer ; I think I got up to the gate once.

A very nice tribute to Mr. Fogelberg. I graduated from high school in'74 when Dan was gaining popularity. I was at his concert in Dallas after Netherlands came out. One of the most talented people ever. Colorado was obviously his place of destiny. I thank God that he had the talent to put his thoughts into song for all of us. I lost track for years. I picked up Wild Places recently and was blown away again. A rebirth for me. I love the song Blind to the Truth. It's all good. God Bless Dan. RIP.

@asquare176 : Dan, Todd Rundgren and Fleetwood Mac defined me, musically, as a teen. I remember where I was when I bought their albums, or where I was when I first listened to them. We'd pop a cassette in the car, get a 6-pack, and drive for hours, listening to the album over and over and over. This album is my favorite, edging out Souvenirs and Captured Angel .... bust just barely.

Todd Rundgren and Cat Stevens was my "Fogelberg" before Dan entered the scene. Todd stil cranked out the music and Cat just dissappeared to the Middle East. Thank goodness Dan just kept cranking them out for decades! I did a 16 days of Fogelberg to honor Dan this year, from 12/1 to 12/16, each and every album is very special. What a talent !

I saw Dan for a 2nd time in April 1979 at Miami Univ. in Ohio. We got to show, only to find we had "Obstructed View" seats; a stack of speakers was blocking our view of most of the stage. Dan opened with this song, and it absolutely soared. One of the guys I was with was straining to try to see Dan. He said, "Man, I can't see Fogelberg." I settled into my seat, touched his arm and said, "Just listen , and you can hear everything you need to see." And it was true.

Yes...powerful and moving. I cried so hard my eyes were swollen shut. Jean's written account of Dan's birthday was beautiful and so descriptive that I felt like I was there. Jean must have had courage to be able to let Dan go as he had desired. I will always think of Dan now as an eternal part of the The Reach. It's one of his many wonderful compositions which will last through time. I had a good hard cry while I watched and listened to your video tribute today. Update, I rebooted my computer and all is well. :) Thank you so much for your dedication to keeping Dan's memory alive. I just got back from a friend's house, who also was affected by Dan's music, and we will be holding a moment of silence at 6:30PST for him at his home, having a BBQ and playing and singing Dan's songs. We live at the coast, and with every breath of salt air, I will remember him, and be thankful.
