  • I wonder who was laughing their t***s off at 0.10.? LOL

  • @5020Chris

Dunno, but sounds like Mutley doesn't it.

  • Thing how much power they could get out of it with a maglin induction kit.

  • They used those engines in tanks as well did they not?

  • Thats just a massive engine... Awesome

  • Imagine how fast that would go with taller gears!

  • taht engine is trully ''environmentaly friendly''

  • Forget about global warming and all! Don't care about all that! Back to good old days!

  • lol indeed, it's just for show, it's real use is for lighting cigars.

  • There is a tractor called Riverina Screamer over here in Australia that is running a Rolls Royce Meteor with twin Turbos, and MOTEC fuel injection. The thing is a beast. He has also made up his own heads that are running twin cams per head!!

  • the merlin and meteor were DOHC originally.

  • They all run rich like that after being worked so do the Allisons.

  • Cool tractor, but Charlie broomfields Rover SD 1 with a meteor in it is cooler...and road legal in the UK...crazy! Looks like this ones running a little rich!

  • what a waste of such a limited resource the merlin should be back in a plane where it belongs

  • If it was indeed a Merlin, perhaps it would be but if you read 'about this video' you will in fact see that it is a Meteor engine. This is similar to the Merlin but it isn't supercharged and was generally used in tanks.

  • He ,3foxstangs, a p 51 Mustang has a Allison 1710 ,v12,engine

  • the merlin was also fitted to the mustang and made it a winner (see the P-51D and beyond) - and was produced by Packard in some cases.

  • the P-51 wasn't what it was because of its engine, it was what it was because of its aerofoil and its streamlined shape allowing better range and speed. there were several better engines during WWII. the Merlin was just the "'ol standby" for mass production aircraft.

  • i was just commenting in reletion to the Merlin instalment in the Mustang prior to the lesser performing Allison. Yes it was a wonderful plane aerodynamically - still is...but engine wise the Merlin bought it to life in the B,C, D and further variants.

Of course there were better negines in WWII.

  • point taken.

  • that has got to be the smallest vehicle i've seen carry a p51 mustang engine.

  • its a tank engine not aero

  • yeah I know it's just like an engine on wheels

  • I'd call that a successful shakedown run... it ran, didn't blow up, and left the door open for tuning out the carb/ign bugs... good job!)
