Dreams do not only occur in REM sleep, this is a common misconception. 45% of dreams occur outside of REM sleep (NREM) where as the other 55% of dreams are present within REM. Not that big of a difference.
@theotherguy245689 then you have parasomnia. Those who talk, move or walk in their sleep while dreaming have a condition called parasomnia; when the paralysis mentioned does not take effect.
what is the stage right before sleep.. most nights ill just sit ther almost asleep for like 30 minutes, thinking of complete bullshit that i cant remember..its like im dreaming about completely random things but im awake and unaware that im doing it..then i realize that ive been laying there almost asleep, thinking about surreal and random things that i nvr remember...wut is this called?
@MsAnoPoYun record your dreams. write them down.. the more you right them down the more you pay attention to detail when you sleep, and as you write about your dreams you will start to realize your writing more and more and also with great detail. and maybe if you do this youll see the girls face
I think that dreams are somehow related to deja'vu. Dreams occur during REM sleep and is the rapid eye movement which has an increase in brain activity, but when youre asleep youre unconscious. When you're unconsious, the logic part of your brain is inactive and therefore you can dream about the crazy shit that you dream of. I definately want to see a video about lucid dreams so if you know any info about lucid dreams then message me.
Actually, Deja'vu is thought to occur when there is a slight "hiccup" in communications between the left and right hemispheres of your brain. One side interprets something faster than the other side, so it feels like it's happened before. So says my psych professor, anyway ;)
i remeber being small and watching kids cartoons where they would be in their own dream and can do anything they want..y irl u cant and its random? if u plan on replying reply on my page plz .ty
It's funny that people say they don't consistently experience these stages or don't dream. There's a study in my psychology book stating people over-estimated by double how long it took them to get to sleep and how long and often they woke up.
Fun fact: Narcoleptics are people who biologically don't get enough REM sleep so their body compensates by randomly throwing them into it. You would basically cease to function without REM sleep. Though no one knows exactly why you need it so badly.
I've heard that after stage 3&4, before going into REM sleep you 'almost' wake up and then enter full REM. You would be very sensitive to the outside world at this point, so something small would awake you.
Your muscles 'turn off' to protect you. Your mind can't send signals to your body properly.
Some people have experienced a form of OBE called sleep paralysis. I first knew about this and researched it when my friend told me that he awoke from his sleep at 3/4am and couldn't move, only his eyes and mind worked. I think he fell back asleep and awoke normally that morning.
yeah I was going to say that. I actully suffer from it, its no fun at all. you see hear and even feel things sometimes, lol when I was a kid I was sure it was aliens, now I know better =D
Very nice video! I used it to study for the section on sleep covered on my physiological psychology exam. Great review. Very professional. No excess info at the beginning, very pleasant narrator voice.
our subconscious mind is smarter then our own conscience. i wish i could live in my sleep
