  • next time use kale that more cut like string- tater and for faster way use instant mashed potatoes with one cupped potato they do it in the restrainers. ( its short-cut )

  • this aint portugues kale soup -.-

  • I have to disagree spanish chorizo is much better than portuguese chourico.

  • @RockyBalboa211 not rlly :|

  • I am Portuguese and this is not Portuguese Green Soup. This is some weird recipe this Chef invented. If you want to see the real deal, search for a video made by a real Portuguese Chef. Portuguese Green Soup ( we call it Caldo Verde ) is really delicious if you know what you are doing.

  • in portugal we call it "caldo verde" wich means green broth in english.if you don't have the original portuguese cabbage you may use collard greens instead of kale.make sure you use portuguese chourico instead of the spanish chorizo which is way less tasty than the portuguese kind.i would suggest adding a bit more olive oil to the pot before serving.this soup is absolutely deliscious when done right.look for caldo verde recipies on the net with video and try a few.you wont regret i promise.

  • just got back from a holiday to lisbon and had potato soup with carrot and kale....sooooooooo much better and definately dint look like this.

  • this is not portuguese kale soup im from new bedford mass wit a 60% portuguese population and have never seen kale soup like this and thats not even portuguese sausage he is using smdh

  • Why does everyone mis pronounce chouriço? It portuguese not Spanish.

  • i maka nice fo you

  • I really want to try this recipe, looks great

  • portugal para sempre :D e btw ninguem sabe fazer caldo verde como nós fds

  • New Bedford Has as much Portugees as Fall River U guys are New Bedford wannabees :)

  • my husband and i order this at one of our favorite places to eat..the olive garden..but it was made with another type of sausage... now i can make this at home for everyone....Thanks this was a wonderful find

  • This guy is a great cooking host. I find Jamie Oliver's mateyness disingenuous and irritating, Nigella's salaciousness overwrought, but this genuine, friendly approach is great. Oh, and recipe is obviously great too! Will try.

  • when I saw the title, I thought at first he was going to be using the actual Portuguese Kale, or Tronchuda and not regular old kale.

  • THAT WAS NOT CHORIZO I am Italian and my b/f of many years is a full blooded green horn. So you can't tell me that was chorizo that was italain sausage. lol I know he is not a portagee cuz he would have NEVER called it anything but Italian saugage. I am from A small place called Rhode Island and he is from Fall River. We have more wops and green horns then any place in the us and that was not chorizo

  • that doesn't look like portuguese suasage? Can anyone send me this recipe please

  • You'd probably love my Portuguese Sweet Bread Pudding recipe. I just made my Great Grandma's Portuguese Pot Roast for a Christmas party. I thought the bread pudding (my own invention) would go well with the pot roast. They were both a big hit. My family is Azorean too.

  • i think so

  • honestly... I'm portuguese but have no idea of what he's cooking... Is he trying to cook "caldo-verde"???

  • i think so

  • acho que sim. embora não se pareça nada com caldo verde... pelo menos com o meu e o da minha mãe.

  • oh gosh why overcooking all that kale !!!??? potatoes take 3 times longer to cook then kale!!! and then adding more raw potatoes and cook another extra 15 minutes !!! olive oil on top ?? bad bad real bad

    eveything else - may pass

  • Well, actually, he did try to describe it the best way he could without introducing a new word to the spectators (as he should :)) "spicy choriço sausage" = linguiça. Spicy for the taste, chouriço for the consistance and structure, sausage for the shape. In one word, "linguiça". I never tried to mash it up before, but indeed, it will release more flavour. I use to cut it in small slices. They will release flavour, but not loose it totally to the surroundings.

  • I just made this tonight using linguica. It was to-die-for!!!

  • Great recipe, been looking for kale recipes, keep it up! 8)

  • that's not portuguese chourico sweetie, that's linguica. but it's still a pretty close recipe

  • what is linguica, i am portuguese and never heard of that

  • Both the linguica and chourico are made from pork, both have the basic same spicing, but linguica is cured with red wine and more paprika, neither is smoked but air dried to firm them up and both have to be cooked. I think chorico has a thicker casing as well. All I know is that they both taste DAMN good. But I will always prefer chorico because it doesn't break apart as easy when fried.

  • thankyou so much if you know any other protuguese recipes or videos can you let me know please. I am looking for porco aletjano please. I am azorian but live in montreal

  • I don't know the recipe for porco alentejano but I will ask around for the recipe. :) I am also acoreana, but in the US. Good luck in your search.

  • What?!!! You need to get schooled! You haven't Lived!

  • OMG YOURE STUPID

  • @bicepsca lol never ??

  • yes never lol i am glad I can learn with youtube lol

  • That's not chouriço!!! Lolol, I don't even know what that is, dude! Oh well, you'd expect this from an American trying to cook Portuguese food... Get your ingredients right, dude! If it's not chouriço, DON'T call it chouriço! Would you make a hotdog with a Jewish sausage and call it a plain sausage??
