This is so brilliant... I remember this when it originally was broadcast. How ironic that Doug Watson died shortly after Mac was told that Iris was "the Chief"....
This scene is EMMY material. I loved Carmen Duncan as Iris. It is to bad that the character could not have stayed on the show until it was cancelled. TPTB should have never let her go!!!
Is there video of Iris on the witness stand? Is there video of Mac's reaction after Iris leaves the Cory Mansion? How soon after this did Douglass Watson die?
Yes, I do have Iris on the witness stand at Felicia's trial. Mac throwing Iris out of the Cory Mansion is in the clip titled "Iris Confesses to Mac That She Was "The Chief." I also have the next day with Mac and Rachel, and Mac's memories of Iris (including flashbacks from 1988 and '89). Douglass Watson passed away about seven or eight weeks after this, I believe.
Donna was the one who discovered that Iris was "the Chief." Donna inadvertently heard Iris on the phone with someone we (the audience) didn't see and identifying herself as "the Chief." Donna then told Cass, who was representing Felicia. Cass told Rachel because Rachel and Mac were also his friends and his clients, and after talking to Cass, Rachel confronted Iris, seen here.
This was so sad, right after Mac found out pour Doug Watson passed on and they wrote it into the script. As characters, Iris never got forgiveness from Mac.
Extremely and wonderfully tense! I never realized before how excellent Victoria Wyndham was. Both ladies did an excellent job with this. How did Donna figure into this?
The story is that Iris spent so many years in Europe before she returned that we were to believe she just naturally retained her Europen accent she picked up over there.
Carmen Duncan is actually Australian. From her Wikipedia entry: "As an actress in Australia, Duncan was trained in the Cultivated Australian English dialect, which is often mistaken for a British accent."
yeah, I read that after I typed my post. Thanks for replying. Adults don't pick up accents like that though, so they must have thought the audience was stupid.
sometimes adults do pick up accents. i myself have picked up regional accents based on what part of the country i've lived in. nothing crazy, but you notice the way you say certain vowel sounds may change over time.
One of the best storylines from AW.The return of Iris Cory Carrington Delaney Bancroft Wheeler. Not since the early 80's has one storyline been so satisifying. Harding "Pete" Lemay who was headwriter on AW from "72-79" returned briefly to ressurect Iris. THANK GOD!!!
I love Victoria Wyndham and Carmen Duncan was great as Iris 2... What is so sad is that before the storyline fully played out Douglass Watson died! Right before the 25th anniversary. I hope SOAP NET brings AW back. Any reason given why it was pulled?
I love how AW makes use of it's history, back in 88 Evan Bates was introduced as iris' lankey and came back to "finish the job" himself while framing his own mentor,, ha what a classic soap sleaze ;) brlliant writting ~
Rachel is so bad!
She is and always will be my girl.

CD seems like an incredible actress, but why does Iris have a British accent? Mac wasn't British.

yeah, but you probably sound like a combination of the places you've lived in. Its not a complete change. Maybe a few words here and there.

Sadly, yes, SN yanked AW from the air after showing an episode on April 6, 2007, and has no plans to return it to the schedule. :-(
