  • Do you guys know what a code 7 ??

  • WOW, this guy is really being a dick about it.

  • this dude is kinda ripping on the LAPD lol

  • ahah my dad helped make this video! you guys are dumb that think it is fake! my mom just diieeeddd laughing! we have it somewhere on VHS[x

  • I now feel educated. I will take the techniques presented in this video to heart. XD

  • TheNightlonewolf - get over yourself brother.

  • To Bachatchalol, LAPD doesn't NEED to wear patches on their uniforms because everybody knows who they are, as good or bad cops, the rest of the police departments need a patch to be recognized since they are not famous and not known by the whole world. Hard to trust some guy claiming to be a sheriff wearing blue jeans, a green polo shirt with wording you can barely read because they are so faded, and wearing an unmarked police car that looks like a bandit taxi. LAPD is more professional.

  • WTF is a "squint?"

  • This guy is definitely a squint. Dude, have you ever even been in the field!!!

  • This is the most hilarious video I've seen in a long time!

One question though: Did the LAPD understand that this video was made as a satire or did they actually use it as a training video for their officers?

  • THIS IS RIDICULOUS! LASD AND LAPD work together all the time! how can they not identify them >.>. And they are both widely known departments. If anything lapd should be questioned who they are since they dont have shoulder patches.

  • This is still a classic, and relevant to the LAPD, 23 years later...

  • The revolver is fucking kick ass.

  • Hilarious!

  • Well, hell, it was Harbor Division.......'nuff said??

  • @ExCHP You mean well "hell" it was LAPD = 'nuff said...

  • any more info i could look up regarding this incident?

  • LOL yeah I work as an LEO in the area. The funny thing is that when LASD gave the codes as a test I dont think half of LASD could answer them correctly. Although I think it was stupid of LAPD to keep the Deputies at proned out for so long, I have some stories of LASD sergeants who made some really really stupid calls in the field. I have to wonder, do some agencies have to promote to meet requirements

  • @Kibuninc

I gotta call BS on this one. If they couldn't pass the radio code tests, they would be DQ'd

  • @Lynviking The truth to the matter is that Officers know the most radio/penal/vehicle codes when they go to the academy. Once in the field Officers/Deputies know the codes they use the most. When I say I have experience with Sgts who make some really bad calls in the field I am not kidding. On the flip side I am sure that some agencies have worked with mine and walked away thnking the same about us. I am sure that in various agencies there are promotions made that should not have been done.

  • I heard of this video back in the day but never seen it. Classic... I am so stealing it!

  • ...avoid bad blood between agencies? This video must have strengthened your partnership with LAPD.

  • Code 7? haha, thats a lunch break

  • Were there any outstanding incidents of criminals dressing as police officers at that time?

  • Is the sarcastic guy in the video one of the victim deputies?

  • o man, this is just gold. Even to this day!

  • LOLOL. Bookmarked as a favorite! Excellent, thanks for posting this.

  • I just loved this video, which I had never seen before. Having worked with both L.A.S.D. & L.A.P.D. I can appreciate the sense of humour generated by a stupid incident. I hope that the L.A.P.D. officers involved at the time also saw the funny side of this & learnt to laugh at themselves.

  • OUTSTANDING!

  • This is fucking hysterical. LMAO! You would think two deputies wearing uniforms with badges and guns would give a clue to the lapd cops that they were legitimate. I bet if the deputies had moustaches they would have believed them right away.

  • ROFLMAO......Stay safe Brothers !

  • Sounds like a one sided story.

  • Bluesuit5... No it isn't. In fact, both LAPD officers and the Sergeant, were suspended, without pay, over this incident.

  • True, but what about the robberies by suspects impersonating deputies in the area? did someone forget to mention that? Its funny how the robberies all stopped after that. Your screen name tells me u are from the old lynwood substation.A decade after the county paid $9 million to resolve a series of brutality lawsuits involving a different group of Lynwood deputies known as the Vikings. Ea. agency has its faults

  • Ah hey dipstick....Rampart......mean anything to you..people who live at the Glass House shouldn't through rocks... oh ya...willie williams....lmao!

  • April 18, 1990|VICTOR MERINA , convicted drug dealer has been released from state prison after a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge was informed that some sheriff's narcotics officers who testified against the dealer may have falsified evidence, according to sources and court documents.

The district attorney's office has told lawyers for at least four other convicted dealers that their clients also may have been convicted with false and perjured evidence

  • Hey we both had crooks..but you had criminals shooting, paralyzing people, killing people for crips and blood rappers... Ours look like beginners compared to Rampart...The sad part is that CRASH suffered and has never returned...to what it once was..

  • There's idiot cops everywhere, don't get too sensitive SDCA!! Funny as F**k +++ from Scotland

  • LMAO

  • funny stuff.. making fun of lapd.. lmfao

  • Maybe they know how the rest of us feel, ya think? No need being a cry baby about it. Thank God the 2 deputies didn't get TASED. Maybe they can chaulk it up as "humanitarian training".

  • This pre-taser, hick it's pre-pepper spray. Hello CS and CN spray aka tear gas.

  • I have no doubt this incident occurred. That's not the point of my comment. But the video, its celebration and distribution over 20 years later is a clear case of "big brother envy" by the LASD. Obviously there are knuckleheads in the LAPD, but to deny equal morons present in the LASD is disingenuous. The video is clearly trying to paint a broad stroke of incompetence to the LAPD, and the only result that shows in this video is the LASD's inferiority complex.

  • Umm...no. It still serves the purpose of making those involved in this incident look like dolts. Believe me, there is absolutely NO inferiority complex. Heh, you made me chuckle!

  • SDCA92101:::: Yep, we (LASD) are envious of the fact that we can make an arrest without a field supervisor present. We really get green when the press exposes the incompetence of the LAPD, which happens seemingly monthly. Or, when you off duty tough guys pistol whip some innocent kid for doing nothing more than looking at them and then your off duty officers get arrested for ADW. Yes sir, we are certainly envious...LOL

  • @Lynviking You forgot the Rampart CRASH Division scandal where the LAPD hired 20 or more Compton Gangsters to become Rampart CRASH Division cops who went on to cost the city of LA $100 million in lawsuits and a huge scandal that led to federal oversight that effects them to this day...

  • @mpsicily

You mean the unprovoked shootings, beatings, planting of evidence, framing of suspects, stealing and dealing narcotics, bank robbery and perjury committed by Rafael Perez and his buddies. Some of which were on Suge Knight's payroll? Some of which were also responsible for the murder of Notorious BIG? You mean that CRASH Unit??? LOL

  • @Lynviking Yes of course I mean exactly that!! :)))......What else??? Yeah that CRASH Unit......And they are still paying the price for that "Gangster Cop" Unit in the form of "Federal Oversight"......LASD is a muchhhhhhhhhh better agency.......And that my friend is not a joke!!!!!!!

  • hahahaha, this shit's hilarious

  • I LOVE this video! GOOD JOB!!!!! LAPD had it coming to them, but I'm sure this video didn't help mend relations - but then again, perhaps it opened a few eyes and everyone learned a lesson.

  • Those 2 LAPD officers and the field sgt. must be some hot headed no good for nothing Mall Security guards

  • Hey, hey, hey now .

I'm a mall cop and I'm not hot headed.

    I is sad now : (

  • wow LAPD wow.

  • ahhahahaha wow.... back the 4th grade tactics if learning for LAPD ay? lmao

  • that guys head is a fucking cherry

  • Nice!

  • Classic. I remember this from academy and havent see it since. Almost as good as the "this is why we dont mess with dispatchers" video.

  • Great!!

  • This is funny i cant believe my Dad made this video ha ha my dad is the Deputy Sheriff in uniform Dep Tunget, he told me that he almost got in trouble for this lol i was 2 years old when he made this video i cant believe he did it but i do have to say its pretty funny

  • What station did he work?

He looks pretty squared away and has good uniform appearance.

  • Tell your dad he did a fantastic job! This video is better than any skit on MadTV or SNL. Glad he didn't get into trouble.

  • Lmfao. Hey LAPD, I think he's saying you guys must substitute lead paint chips insted wheaties in your cereal. Lmfao.

  • is this gary de bondt?.... he's a funny dude. kinda nutts too...lol

  • I Love It!

  • this is great!

  • Very true, just a bent ego.... Have to admit the robberies by " people dressed like deputies" stopped in the carson ca area... GO FIGURE

  • this guy looks like his older sister was also his momie ... prolly a cop

  • hows that lisp, i wouldnt be giving shit to anyone if i was him

  • hahaha best shit ever!!!

  • Props. xD

  • LMFAO

  • Did LAPD respond to this ?

  • Chief Darryl Gates was not pleased with the video. A personnel investigations was conducted culminating with a ten-day suspension for one of the LASD deputies. I had a great time fishing in the Eastern Sierras!

  • @rgayton

    Is this Ray Gayton Jacobs?

  • @Lynviking

    Yes it is . . .

  • @Lynviking Yes it is . . .

  • @rgayton HAHA... Nice.

  • @rgayton He should have been a lot less pleased with the way that his officers conducted themselves on this incident.....

  • @cook31400 Yeah they went out and hired 20 Rampart Division CRASH Officers from Compton Gangs to completely disgrace and discredit the LAPD worse than they already are....

  • @cook31400 Yeah they went out and hired 20 Rampart Division CRASH Officers from Compton Gangs to bring disgrace and discredit onto the LAPD worse than the reputation that they already have...

  • amazed and proud? about running a plate, yea

  • lol guys this is my uncle from about 20 years ago. everyone had mustaches like that =p he sent this video to the LAPD and needless to say they didnt find it amusing lol

  • what's with americans and gay moustaches!

  • Ask the French, British, Italians, Spanish, Mexicans, and hell, even Russians the same thing.

FYI, the British did a study in the 80's I believe and found that mustaches made people seem "more tough".

  • the 1980s? you mean like freddie mercury? or maybe the YMCA....young man! obvious GAY!

  • Yeah ya know, all those deputies in IRC ect. of course they come out gay lol

  • I think it was on purpose! They even showed hate and discontent between the 2 departments in the movie "Earth Quake" back in those days, with one officer punching the other. Too many police Depts have total retards on the streets! Too bad they dont start killing each other like the Hartford, CT police dept!

  • Whoa, is this vid purposely trying to make fun of the other department and actually mass produced?

  • This is awesome. Funny as hell.

  • This guy is just pissed because he got passed over for playing Lt Dangle.

  • LAPD wear dark blue, LASD wear green pants and tan shirts plus a six pointed gold star and shoulder patches that say LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF on both sleeves. Now if your color blind your screwed!

  • I love this. LAPD should have it in their manual.

  • Lil' Rin, on December 17th, 2006 at 10:27 pm Said:

I used to be a gangstalker and I am so ashamed to admit that.

It was terrible, and I am so sorry for those I hurt.

    (そう認めるのはとても恥ずかしいことですが私は以前、集団ストーカー犯罪者でした。

    私のやったことは酷いことであり、自分が傷つけた方々に大変すまないと思っています)

  • @GroundZeroHiroshima That's easy for you to say.

  • @nijadi They swapped it out for the "Rodney King Use Of Force Video"...

  • your mother was a prostitute

  • I actually saw this in the academy

    (LASD) several years ago...Funny Stuff

  • Why is it a bunch of shit?

  • what a find, I had this video in 87 and I lost it when I let a few friends show it at rollcall in 89. Its a great video, however it does have a serious message.

  • whoever wrote the script is genius!! The funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Right up there with "How to not get your ass kicked by the po-lice"!

  • hey 120120 or P.C. 148 (A)1

  • Did they hire this guy from the village people?

  • Man thats freakin hilarious!

  • Yeah, leave it to the LAPD to do something stupid like not be able to indentify members of the other large law enforcement agency in the LA area.

  • Just so that you know, numerous robberies in the Carson area/ so cal were being conducted by people wearing lasd uniforms. Gee, go figure after lapd stopped them, the robberies stopped.

  • You have to imagine how much time they spent making this sarcastic response video. It shows great humor on their part. Pretty cool. :)

  • bwahahahahahahahahha

    LA's finest

  • Yep, it was real. I saw this video in the LASD academy in 1989. (The brother of the "uniformed deputy sheriff, Dep Tunget) was in academy class.

For those of you LAPD officers who are STILL offended by it, GROW SOME SKIN!!! And remember, this video was made in response to an incident that actually occurred.

(Regarding the post about the uniform being similar to CHP's: their's is tan over tan, ours is tan over green.)

  • As in LAPD Ofcr, I find this video to be hilarious. Nice Work!! I want the names of these boneheads!!

  • I had and will always respect officers at LAPD. In 20 years in LASD I have never doubted their professionalism and integrity. both LAPD and LASD have made mistakes hiring hothead mall security guards, both our departments need to stop hiring these questionable wanabees to prevent any future embarrasments.note to the three LAPD officers at the incident, "couldn't you just check if they are carrying an official LASD identification cards?"

  • The sergeant did check our ID cards, but then he started to wonder if the cards were fake too. Once they allowed me to use my radio, an LASD watch commander arrived in a black & white. They were still concerned he was an imposter...

  • @rgayton Lol wow! LASD and LAPD work together sometimes. How can they not know. Was this harbor patrol or something?

  • Is this Reno-911. They can't be serious. The uniform looks like The Chips officers.

  • LMAO!! i know where i am from, let a city officer do something like that to a county sheriff, there WILL be a ass whoopin!!!! around here the Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer in the county, hell deputies even have arrest powers in the entire state.

  • The incident was most likely a total mistake.

#1.....Deputy/Officer safety. Hey, assholes kill us out there.

Any cop should realize that there are assholes out there trying to impersonate us and the safety of personnel is much more important than the pride of personnel.

  • Well...maybe the black and white was also stolen and they bought some blue uniforms...Mayeb the Deputies should have pointed their guns at them until they confirmed they were really LAPD

  • Priceless, it's too long though. Sorta like beating a dead horse.

  • love it

  • Is he for real?

  • LMAO this is great! Go LASD!

  • That's funny as hell

  • Great Video. Funny, but my heart is LAPD! Too bad we had knuckle heads as City police officers! LASD's a great and succesfull dept. LAPD/LASD 2 of the best law enforcement departments in the world.

  • Can someone e-mail me the video so I can play this at our roll-call I'd like to put it on a cd.

  • I forgot how funny this video was! I laughed as hard now as when I first saw it nearly 20 years ago! I haven't seen it years, since it made the rounds at briefing. Great job guys!

  • Great Video! As former KJC625, doesnt surprise that LAPD did this, I remember the LAPD (Were #1) Attitude from day 1 in the academy, and that was 13 years ago....now look at how screwed up the Dept is! LASO is always the best bet! My Uncle was LASO and worked Malibu years ago...thanks for the awesome video! =)

  • It's LASD. I have never seen any signs or badges that state LASO.

  • A long long time ago it was "Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office" (LASO) but it is now "Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department" (LASD). I still hear a lot of people refer to us at LASO, especially other agencies.

  • Well it doesn't matter what it was in the past. It is LASD now.

  • This is a joke right...this incident occured because of two felony suspects who were impersonating police officers. If the deputyies had not been pouching in harbor division they would not have been stopped

  • Sorry to info you, this is not a joke. Also, the LASD deputies were in their beat in the county strip known as east Torrance. The officers were out of beat. To add insult to injury, one of the officers had a hard-on for LASD (failed civil lawsuit). You're soucre about the incident is flawed. I was there when the event happened (eyewitness or victim). I also attended the offending officer's board of rights hearing.

  • Subsequently, the offending officer was fired when he committed a telephonic terrorist threat against one of the victim deputies. This was after his initial board of rights hearing.

  • So you're professing that every uniformed officer should be proned-out and checked for proper identity. You must watch too much TV! The deputies were in full uniform, in a LASD police car, and in possession authentic Sheriff's Department credentials. What else are they suppose to have on them?

  • LAPD should call a sergeant like they always do.

  • @jerryblanks Well their Sergeants come from the ranks of the officers, so how can they be any better than an officer???

  • It should of taken no more than 2 mins to clear up via your dispatcher...even before the LAPD got out of their cars. LAPD dispatch could of spoken to sheriff's dispatch and verified if they were in that area.

  • Under current communication technology, I would agree. Remember this event took place in the 80's. Most LASD deputies did not have access to a handheld radio. To add to the frustration, LAPD and LASD did not share frequencies and their disptach centers were so chaotic.

  • are you serious??? lol

  • The guy they used for the uniform tests was prefect. he just has that 80's movie police officer look. Hell he looks like he would have fit in on the 'Super Troopers' team.

  • hehe.. NICE.. .Man I bet those guys NEVER lived this down. Plates here usually say "exempt" on them, and usually by the time you notice, of course you're so close you're already in trouble :)

  • Omg hahaha

  • If they had just run the plate they would have seen it was a county car, so I don't buy that arguement. If it had been stolen it would've been in SVS immediately and all local agencies would've been notified.

  • I was in the NYPD in 1987 I do not remmember this incident but I know one thing that the LAPD thougt there S--- didnt stink.

  • I guess from NYPD you would know what S--- smelled like.

  • Even training says to use common sense. Officer safety doesn't mean leaving two uniformed officers proned out in the street for 10 - 15 minutes while they assess the situation.

  • wow...and I thought NYPD had problems LMFAO

  • Yes, it is. But 3 Dildos (two officers and a field Sergenat) from LAPD proned out 2 Fully uniformed Deputies from LASO at gun point and did not believe they were really Deputies from LASO.

  • LOL this is totally condescending toward other departments.
