I am leafs fan and hated schultz. Schultz lost a few fights but I don't know any fighter like schultz who fought so many bad asses on every team. Respect the man for that.

@bukkawhitefan wtf do u mean they hid behind schults? they only got him cause in the early years of the flyers they couldnt get anyone good, so they needed some one to send a message to the other teams. and that guy was schults. and they didnt even hide behind him, everyone on that team got into fights, why do u think they were called the broad street bullies?
@varner1354 People still hate the broad street bullies because for the most part they were dirty bitches who hid behind Schultz. Too bad probert couldn't have been with the Wings for the cup years. Shanahan? Konstantinov? Those guys were more like the hockey men of old, standing on their own. I'm not that old, but I don't remember Gordie Howe, Lindsay, Hull, or even gentlemen players like Yzerman or Beliveau hiding behind skirts like Clarke and the gang.

Or how bout when Larry Robinson KOd him? I remember him picking on Dennis Hextall, but never saw him within feet of Bryan Watson. And being a Detroit fan: all time greatest? Who else but Probie? RIP
You know, there is no other player in the history of the NHL that garners more hatred than this guy. No matter where you are there is ALWAYS some dick that says "Robinson, Gillies blah blah blah" whhhhhaaaaatever. Schultz beat the fucking snot out of Behn Wilson, who WHIPPED Gillies. The guy lost a few fights, SO? People were terrified to play against the Flyers in the 70's. No one has done that job better. His penalty minute record which will stand forever is a testament to that.
I am a Boston Bruin fan from 1969-70 and I loved when the Bruins played the Flyers, of course at the time I hated Schultz but now you look back and say I wish he was a Bruin, he did what he did for his team-mates and fans...I only wish the B's had a guy with that much heart these days..........................GREAT TIMES and GAMES back then!!

@varner1354 Not sure about that, iv taken a lot of shits in 55 years. Shultz was too quick to take on the small men in the league, If he did go after a big man he always had his possy close at hand. Every big man he fought drilled a new ass for him. I dont recall him playing that way against the bruins. He was Larry Robinson and Clarke Gillies bitch. @varner1354 Actually-I am not "bitching and moaning" about Schultz or the Flyers ... .I.was an Islander fan so we got the better of DS as far as I'm concerned. What I was responding to is someone referring to him as a god among men. If some cheap-shot artist goon who picks on smaller guys is a god among men I would say that we've set pretty low standards for our sports heros...If probert pulled hair etc.., than he was just as big a loser . Blind bias. Hammer? Ultimate enforcer? lol Only if he was fighting someone that didn't know how.
I've lived in Philly all my life and have had to listen to retards put this guy on a pedestal since the 70's, including my dad. With the advent of Youtube, one doesn't have to look hard to watch Schultz get his ass whooped regularly.
Oh, how I wish he and Probert played in the same era.
@cowboyjosh5448 pretty sure he did not kick the shit out of everyone who messed with him. Gillies fucked him up pretty damn good. Schultz was still a tough bastard. Now he talks about having fighting out of hockey. Find that funny.
@cowboyjosh5448 Larry Robinson might have something to say about that. Some god eh? Got his ass kicked by non-fighting all-star defensemen. I guess Flyers fans are so desperate for heroes that they elevate zeros...
Larry Robinson was the toughest player of this era. He didn't fight much. He didn't have to. Schultz one and done with the big bird. Schultz was tough , as was Tiger
and Terry , but Robinson was a different level no one often went to.
@cowboyjosh5448 He may have protercted his players but he was dirty. I don't mean just tripping players and holding them during the "game" portion but he would scratch and claw, etc. during fights AND his buddies would help him if he was losing. What is the risk there? It's like the Matadors---gay all the way. That is why the Flyers, (and Bruins, etc.) consistently got their asses handed to them by the NY teams (BUFF, NYI, and NYR).
Schutlz could beat the piss outta anyone..but the thing is, he would also rack up 20 goals in a season at the same time..something you don't see often anymore
Come on .. where's the film of Schultz getting his ass absolutely destroyed by.....
Robinson ('74) , Gillies (x2) , Schoenfeld ('75), Fotiu ('77), the O'Reilly rematch, Harold Snepsts ('77) . MOST of the time, he handpicked bums like Rolfe, Magnuson, Van Boxmeer, etc to take on. Convenient editing of an absolute piece of garbage player.
I was born in 1963 and started watching hockey around 1970. My father was a Ranger fan, so I grew up loving the Rangers. We HATED Dave Schultz. There are a lot of Schultz haters out there.Yes, he pulled hair and head-butted, dirty tactics. But he had a job to do and that was to protect the stars on the team.He purposely was as viscous as possible to literally SCARE other players. The Philly Flu was a real phenomenon..teams were actually afraid to play them.
Also, head butting was a tactic used by many others in the 70's, although you get suspended for it now.
NO BS.....Shultz was the most "BA" man in the most bad ass time(mid 70's) in NHL history............and Dave Brown followed him for the Flyers in the 80's.
See kids this happens when you can't score, can't pass and can't play. You become a member of the Philadelphia Pfaggy Flyers!!!! He couldn't play today. LOL
@B0BtheBaptist Hey Dick Head 1975/76 My Habs swept your Pfaggy Flyers so go back to your moms dirty taint you Flyer FFAGGOTT.Larry Robinson and the rest of the Habs proved. That the Flers were just a bunch of goons
@tommykUD You want cheese with that whine. Injuries happen. Tough learn to live with it .What If we lost Guy Lafluer,or Ken Dryden. It didn't happen but it could have.Would the Faggy flyers rolled over for us If that would have happened. And the Habs won 3 more cups after that. What happened to your goons then .Hey you wanna re do the Civil war while your at It? MORON! get a life!
@Brian4043 What does the civil war have to do with hockey fighting? You're an idiot bringing something like that up. The Canadians were great, that's for sure. You're a bit off target though. Schultz had a 20 goal season when he was the Flyers enforcer. Most enforcers never have a 20 goal season in their entire career.
@HeavyD2544 What I was referring to was you can't relive the past. You can't change history. I being a habs fan didn't appriciate the strategy of the
flyers beating their oppents into submission. They including Schultz had the talent to play straight up hockey. Also It's not 1975/76 so my point was this was in the PAST
@Brian4043 So you're admitting that we had the talent to play straight up hockey. Why go on a tangent saying Schultz was worthless then? You came on a Schultz video to pick a fight with Flyers fans. That's the truth. You are literally living in the past by bragging about your Habs beating us. Quite hypocritical of you don't you think? Now please, go live your past on a Habs video. We'll live our past right here with the Hammer.
@HeavyD2544 I guess I'm guilty as charged. I like you dude.I can debate someone who doesn't throw insults around. LOL you use your mind rather than your mouth. After having watched the HBO show Broad street bullies.I have to admit i was impressed with Schultz.Dare I say he was almost likeable??!!! Catch this show If haven't already .Quite entertaining.Although they do mention my habs and Larry Robinson in 1976!!!! Talk to you later
The Bruins have been my team since the 60's, O'reilly and all those tough guys but there is no doubt that the hammer was one of the greatest, yeah he took shots in his fights but NEVER backed down, I only wish we had the Hammer now in Boston!!
I was never a fan of the Hammer but the truth is the truth... he was one of the greatest goons of all time... he intimidated alot of players and alot of teams...lol!

I'd like to see Schults vs Probert in their prime.... that would be an awesome scrap !!!
ThaOneChrisJONES 1 year ago
NO BS.....Shultz was the most "BA" man in the most bad ass time(mid 70's) in NHL history............and Dave Brown followed him for the Flyers in the 80's.

See kids this happens when you can't score, can't pass and can't play. You become a member of the Philadelphia Pfaggy Flyers!!!! He couldn't play today. LOL

@Brian4043 thats why they won two cups with him on the team you dumbass, go back in your moms dirty taint
B0BtheBaptist 1 year ago
@B0BtheBaptist Hey Dick Head 1975/76 My Habs swept your Pfaggy Flyers so go back to your moms dirty taint you Flyer FFAGGOTT.Larry Robinson and the rest of the Habs proved. That the Flers were just a bunch of goons
Brian4043 1 year ago
@Brian4043 Yeah they swept the Flyers without Bernie Parent or Rick Macleish moron.

MORON! get a life!
Brian4043 1 year ago

Brian4043 1 year ago
