  • King Vidor is just awesom

  • wow nice movie

  • This isn't Communist; no one is aiming a gun at these people's heads. They can disagree or grumble without punishment. This is the beginning of a community. A town where some one will be the blacksmith, the horse breeder, run different stores, a savings & loan, a mill and a school and places of worship. Yes, it's a kind of socialism, but the kind where people will work willingly to make a place that will grow and benefit all, especially the children. The way government should be. By the people.

  • Anyone who says again how Now is different from the depression...i LOL.

  • Anyone who says again how this is different from the depression...i LOL.

  • @olivalovesturtles God made thoes turtles you love. And oliva maybe you should check your anatomy. I've never known an Oliva with thoes body parts.

  • I'm truly offended by olivalovesturtles comment. If you don't enjoy the movie you can just say so. There is no need to make such crude remarks about God. It's amazing how the world was sooooo different back when this movie was made. When I was growing up in my neighborhood there were very few that didn't go to church on Sunday. Now days there are very few that go to church on Sunday. You have to admit back in thoes days when people took the Lord serious we didnt have crime like we do 2 day.

  • a great example of living anarchism - all stick together - the strong protect the weak - each works to his abilities - kropotkin, bakunin and christ are the great inspiration...

  • The saying "There is nothing more powerful than an idea whose time has come" is well illustrated by this movie. The film, made in the depths of the Great Depression, when able bodied men and women were going hungry and homeless was a vote of no confidence in the management of industry, agriculture, commerce, and especially politics. Bravo to King Vidor for producing it and youtube for making it available for viewing.

  • Great to see this here!

I just rented it from NetFliz. The DVD comes with extra old 30's documentary films of the Great Depression, California Election News #1& 2, The Plow that Broke the Plains, The River, Power and the Land and The New Frontier.

4 Stars! Great teaching video for classrooms.
