Beam scanning is way better than air radar if paired with the guided rocket, if you have a decent headset you can hear when another jet is up and know to take evasive action until you spot the other jet, and with beam scanning, you can lock onto everything almost instantly, like if your just doing a fly by to spot for your team and you happen to notice a mortar, you can take it out without making another run, and in the CAS jets you can destroy a tank instantly if you pair the rocket with the c

@blackshibah The problem with that is the "if you have a decent headset", a lot of people don't have them, so they need the biggest boost in situational awareness as they can get. Also, Air Radar spots ground vehicles as well, and shows when people are in the AA turrets. It's all about what role you want to play in your jet, for me I like to be as omniscient as possible, if I have to sacrifice some ground pouding power, so be it. Good tip though! :)

@HDCarrioner I was referring to people with stingers in that particular instance. Best way to break a lock from a stinger/IGLA is through breaking LOS and distance. But yes, best way to get rid of a lock from a jet is to kill the person locking you.

@AnonymousAutumn yeah i mean it's a damn 120mm explosive shell at a flimsy jet... DICE should definitely make it an instant kill/destroy. Simply disabling and having the pilot bail really takes away from the excitement you get from shooting down a jet with an Abrams :(

@snelmau5 Really it's all personal preference. If you're getting shot down more by missiles than an enemy's chaingun, I'd go with the flares. I usually get destroyed by the enemy's chaingun or stupid stuff like crashing, haha :) It's really all just preference, the setup was just a recommendation not what is 'best'.

@snelmau5 i dont recommend flares, as it still doesnt help you against cannon fire, it just stops you burning up. The most important unlock is flares.

in my opinion it is because most of other pilots loose intrests in you once you are disabled and fly away but since you have the good old ext. you can follow them and while they feel save and line up a straveing run you are able to take them out with one burst of the main cannon, but its a a question of your own preferences

Honestly he said to use the extinguisher, but in the video it shows him using flares most of the time. I usually run with Flares, Rocket Pods, and Air Radar. It's damn effective on ground targets, and the chain gun is all you need on air if you're not a complete novice at flying.

@1SMS1blitz Well, most of the clips I wasn't damaged and had no use for them, so they weren't actually shown. Also, I discovered the setup I recommended in the video about a week before so I didn't have a ton of footage, as I mostly ran with flares before hand. Rocket pods are good, but they force you to aim downwards, whereas the guided missile will let you remain level and still get a rocket off.

Wrong, pods, ECM and air radar is the best setup, flares arent that neccesary, but when encountering helis ur flying in a straight line and if they get a missile lock on u, even if u flare they will still go in a straight line towards u, thats why you wanna ECM so you can shoot the chopper with out being heat seeked down. also rocket pods are better for taking out ground vehicles, considering how guided missile is takes too long to lock on and easier to crash with
