  • Really great videos, but seriorusly man: His accent sucks

  • This author lives in the perfect area for coming up with a novel. I thought that I didn't as a child, but then I went on a little trip and realized I've been blind lol. I live in Newark, NJ and each time I walk around my mind is now filled with alot of ideas

  • @DixieKorley I agree with your observation. The surounding is very important. I lived in far part of Russia for 30 years and started writing only after I moved to comfortable and cozy Singapore! It also depends on the character. Some people prefer to write on the battle field )

  • @DixieKorley Surrounding, sorry )

  • Good!

  • Trust me your a teacher for me, on youtube xD. I must say your very very good at explaning and i love the examples you give. Keep it up love your videos.

  • OR, you have that, and you know it's, for example... a amulet.

But it has a "special power", nobody knows about it, his worst enemy knows where it is, but doesn't know what's so special about it, and slowly, you began to realize what it does because of writing, little points, those things.

  • What I like to do, is combine it all together.

He lost something precious to him, that he wants nobody to know about, his ambition is to find it again, and his worst enemy knows about it.

    There, summary of a story.

  • "He comes home to see his wife eating the next door neighbour's dog... Arthur's got a problem." No shit. Rofl.

  • Good stuff!

  • I'm glad no one opened that door on you.

  • when i was 12 i stuck on a HUGE cherry tree, at the family villa. I was stuck there not more than 15 min, but they seems like eternity to me. I was so terrified, my legs start to shake sometime in this 15-min-millennium, though i came down with few scratches. I am 32 now and i remember it like it happens yesterday. Your videos are absolutely great. They helped me in my writing. Thanks a lot.

  • Arther's wife ate the neighbor's dog, lol!!!!

  • OMG i love you! lol he fell down and broke his neck but he still solved his problem. :D

  • Thanks alot for that video

  • Uh, so I'm taking advice from a guy who cannot tuck his shirt into his trousers. FAIL!

  • @RoathRipper what does it matter if he tucks his shirt in or not when he gives great advice?

  • @TheBicyclemagic he is peddling generic advice. poor dress code undermines the strength of an argument, pitch, advice whatever.

  • Your tips are very useful!

    Thank you very much.

  • Eating dogs is a problem? Why? It saves a lot of money you'd spend on meat and the critters won't shit all over you lawn anymore.

  • you win mrfickensie's award for most helpful vid of the day!!!!

  • but he still solved his problem lol

  • I love how he says the kids go off to work hillarious

  • @wtfisthatadew lol i guess labor laws dont aply lol :D

  • ... eating the neibour's dog?? De wifey's gotta problem

  • God i wish more authors were as clear as you. Thank you

  • Excellent, thank you

  • I was wondering, and it may not be important to this youtube video, but I usually listen to music whilst I write, because I feel like the emotion of the music matches my emotion with the story - do some people prefer this, or is it too distracting?

I like the videos, thanks very much, I'm starting to write a second novel.

  • @YellowBricks1234 I do exactly that. I've been finding that thematic music (Hanz Zimmer, James Newton Howard, etc.) have been really helpful in setting the mood of particular scenes I'm trying to write.

  • I've listened to those types of music and they influence my writing greatly. I seem to write better with a distraction like music.

  • @YellowBricks1234 I do that too, I am writing a story about a guy going insane

and i listen to heavy metal music (thats the best music to me) it helps with my writing

Its funny when people think similarly.

  • @mrfickensie For more on music in stories, check out our video 'Virtual Writer in Residence Task 5: Music' from our 09/10 Virtual Writer in Residence Cathy Forde - you can find it on the ScottishBookTrust YouTube channel or just search under the title!

  • ... eating the neibour's dog? Wow, he does have a problem. XD Plot is so hard for me, I keep thinking of bits and pieces but nothing real solid.

  • conflict is incorrect.

It is just a more prelevant form of narrative in western literature.

I suggest checking out japanese cinema...

  • e gawt uh pie rise...

  • eating the neighbour's dog...the rofl is strong in this one!

  • eating the next door neighbours dog? wtf?! but yeah good tips (: x

  • mmm... not bad 'ey.

  • ..and the lovely kids go to work?? they should be at school..arthur should be put behind bars :D

  • The tree analogy was excellent.

  • eating the neighbour's dog? Yuck! disgusting. Did her parents raise her on dogmeat?

  • Great info man!

  • I like him. Billy breaks his neck. ROFL Æλ

  • thank you for this.

  • This guy is good

  • This was very inspirational..:)
