Communists intentionally laid mines on roads to explode civilian buses, killed civilians for their support to RVN, launched rockets randomly into cities. They did those to terrorize civilians. We were not there to occupy. Do your history. The majority of the Vietnamese did NOT want to be Communist so they fled to the south. We were there to assist the majority. Don't forget this was a mess that the French had started back in the 50's and we were left trying to clean it up! As is so often the case with the French they took the cowards way out and bailed. If you want to blame someone of being an occupier blame the French. They were there for 70-80 years B4 the US ever got involved

It wasn't a foreign occupation, first off, it was a collaborated effort by the South Vietnamese and the Americans against Communism. And secondly, Vietnam was not a "guerilla" war; the NVA fought conventionally against the allies more often than you might think, especially later on.

@lechinhluan What was even worse was when NVA/VC attacked cities, the people would refugee away from them knowing that they would be killed by the communists if they stayed in their homes. On the roads the NVA/VC would shell the civilians and kill untold thousands of women, children. fleeing their violence. NVA wiped out 15,000 villages for non-support. What does a farmer know except that they stole his rice, took his sons, forced his wife into slavery for their cause.

Later when ARVN could retaliate so fast that VC did not have enough time to carry the launcher tripod away, they put rocket against a cross of branches of tree. This way, they could not aim precisely, they just shot randomly into civilians
