It is good to have breeding dogs tested to see if they are carrying the gene that so often causes back leg paralysis in this great breed. Its a real shame. 3 of the 5 shepherds I had developed it by the age of 9. Just hoping my two young ones do not get it.

People mistake Black German Shepherd for what we call also Belgian Shepherd ( at least popularly) . Our BGS have less longer fur, bigger ears, and they're amazinly alike!!! Belgian or German, your dog is atonishing beautiful! Congratulations!

buy from germany....get out of town. most that are sold to us are hip riddled problems. same with elbows. go to england first. buy temperment and looks....bauerhoffen line added english and had great animals...years later added more german...fantastic dogs...as far as this one with wavy coat. usually referred to as "fluffs" and no you can not show them. its termed as a fault. whats a coat if the dog is sound... so ntbdejure....you probably train schzzzzzz...another person who can't train...

I can tell you as a GSD owner that this is in fact a true GSD. The problem with this dog is that the coat is so long it lies wayyyyy outside the breeding standard. You could not compete with this dog etc. This is obviously american line which means that it is probably riddled with health problems. Save yourself some grief. Spend more money and buy German line dogs.

@marktsheppard Did you know that there are short, medium, and long haired German Shepherds? Sooo yes this is very much a German Shepherd. Long hair is considered a breed fault, though I find these animals very good looking. The long hair gene is a recessive gene so you will find these dogs within certain bloodlines. I have a Shiba Inu which is a short haired dog but every now and then you will get a long haired Shiba from parents that carry the recessive gene.

Breeding for certain cosmetic traits, or to eliminate certain traits, has resulted in certain conditions (such as degenerative radiculomyelopathy in the GSD) becoming more prevalent. But I'm not here to educate Longcoat .....just felt an obligation to the German Shepherd breed to ask those interested in a GSD to get educated. Of course standards have changed over time, go check out the AKC's website and see when the last time the German Shepherd Dog Club of America revised the standard - "Reformatted July 11, 1994". @mfp00018 Standards DO change. Alot of modern dogs would not have been allowed in the early days, especially those AKC cripples with the heavily sloped back but also everywhere else around the world.

I personally think this breeders dogs are a bit too big and you could argue they should not be called GSD but she is open about it how they vary from the standard and from her videos and website i see no indication that she is trying to trick people or that her dogs are mixed in any kind of way.

I am not going to get into a war of words with longcoatgsd. I am well versed in the levels of registration. These dogs are not compliant with the standards for the German Shepherd Dog. These dogs have been blended in with a wannabe breed of dog hence their size. A well informed consumer will be able to see their smokin mirrors.

I've owned 4 German Shepherds over the past 30 years. I decided to pass on this breeder. They claim that the reason you don't get registration is to protect their stock. The fact is you can't get their dogs registered because they are not pure stock and not eligible for registration. What you get for that premium price is just a puppy. The great German Shepherd breed deserves better then to have a snake oil salesmen reference it's name when they're not even the breed. Best to support another.

@mfp00018 What are you even talking about? What a lie. Our dogs are all AKC registered, but we give limited AKC registration for our puppies. From their site: "Limited Registration means that the dog is registered but no litters produced by that dog are eligible for registration." You may want to take it up with the American Kennel Club if you do not like them allowing breeders the option to dictate which dogs are sold with full (breeding/show) registration and limited registration.

It was 3 years ago on April 18th, that I lost my dear "Buddy." He was a long hair, all black, German Shepherd. He was 12, and he was my very best friend. I have him close by in a beautiful cherry wood urn. I miss him every day. A rare dog was he. RIP my dear Buddy. Your dogs are gorgeous! it depends on the genetics and bloodline...my solid blacky is 27" at the withers and was told thi is tall. I would suspect yours could get 23 to 27" at the withers as well.

Just so you all know, your pretty much all wrong, White Geman Shepherds dont really exist any more, they are now known as American White Shepherds for whatever reason (think its cos they are seen as a "fault" in the gene pool) however German Shepherds can be any colour in the black tan or all black variant. I have a JET black Shepherd but he has a little tan on his paws - now you can say that he IS a shepherd cos of the tan,bu the next dog is all black and isnt a GSD?! Retards-get and education

I have one of those pups. We paid £250 for her- a real bargain!

She is so sweet-natured, and growing very fast! Her name is Heidi.

Still needs a bit of training, though, she is always chewing my belongings! never her own..

I love her, though, and she will break my heart when the time comes to say goodbye..

Its easy to break her of that habit. First, all you have to do is have a chew toy on standby. Have a treat ready as well. Distract the dog so she will drop the item you dont want her chewing on. When she does that, treat & praise her, and then give her the chew toy. Dont try to take away the item that you dont want the dog chewin gon, because then it becomes a tugof war game. And puppies LOVE games.

I adopted a dog from near where you are located, and he looks JUST like Snickers. He has a WONDERFUL temperament & was obviously VERY well cared for at some point in his life (he had hip dysplasia which is why I assume he was surrendered).
