@Wolladeath it's a MAJOR problem when ur using it, just like that, to web browse, or play an online game, or youtube...fucking still SO pissed @ Google for letting this go. it's not nearly as bad as Apple's iPhone4 death grip issue..but both companies, regardless, HAD to know of these issues before they made a million more devices. WRONG.
@Wolladeath It doesn't drop calls no, but it does flip between Edge and 3G, which is extremely frustrating when trying to use the data service in a hurry like navigation or directions.
I can get my HTC Desire to drop 24dBm if I squeeze it and also hold my hand ind front of it. So actually cupping it with both hands, but I still havent lost a call on it.
I think the reason the G1 doesn't drop when holding the bottom is the antenna is in the top??
@MrBigs72 You may live close to a cell phone tower, in which case you won't see the problem because the signal is very strong. Find a weak signal strength area, and you should be able to reproduce the issue shown in the video. As Steve Jobs pointed out in his press conference, all cell phones suffer some signal degradation when the grip covers the antenna area.
I'm not sure what's up with your service / handset / hands... but there's no way of holding my Nexus One that'll get it to drop any bars. Also, using a case on the G1 is an obvious error, you should at least try to test the phones under remotely similar conditions.
The algorithm used to determine the numbers of bars on the screen is usually meant to display all bars for a temporary amount of time. You loose all your signal once you put your hand on the sides this is done so customers don't scare from making a phone call yeah tons of phones have that problem
@NChammer334 its the same thing people did to the iphone but this one didnt blow outta proportion eventhough this one is worst it happens on both sides and all smartphones have this problem if you touch where the antenna is like the evo if you touch the top the bars drop
Mine is a build EPF30 and has the same problem, try also putting moist thumb against the 2 metal contacts on the bottom area, even put it into your pocket, its a serious problem, mine goes off-line then takes ages to regain signal when it has gone off-line.
I'm going to be sent another nexus, however we have a desire and it doesn't have the same issues???
me eather and mine got to the pointo to when i just have it on me the signal looses and even goes to no signal , im getting another sent to me, so if that becomes a issue then , huh dont know cause everything about this phone it cool , but the main part that is having problem makes it worthless.
mine doenstn do that. just like steve said, hold your phone differnt :D

I'm not sure about others. But I do not hold my phone this way, especially when I'm using HD2 now. The phone simply too big to be held like this.
Likewise, I will not be holding the iPhone 4 in such a way like I'm trying to squeeze the crap out of it! LOL....

3G doesn't have this problem

You are blocking the signal waves with your hand.
Allmost all cellphones have this issue.
I guess iPhone4 has this problem too (in addition of the short circuit of the antenna. Double trouble.).

Maybe you have a defective device? I loose maybe ~5dBm on my Nexus One when holding it.
