I don't know if you saw it, but playing the Diabolist instead of the Grunts would have put your opponent to zero with your attacks if he didn't have Tanglesap or random removal. You had seen Tanglesap earlier with the thief, though, so playing them like you did was better, but you didn't mention anything about it, so I get the impression you didn't go through those possibilities.
