I like the look of your device. I wanted to know if it was possible to control my xbox 360 via the wifi? My xbox is in a cupboard so the IR does not work but the wifi controllers do. Could I use this device in the same way?
For the moment we do not have Wi-Fi integration with any products through the RedEye software. We have some software updates in the works that open up the ability to configure the software to work with networked devices like Xbox, but it would be after those software updates are available before we would begin working on Xbox-specific communication.
@redeyeremote Thanks for that information. I have seen on a site that you have a Redeye Pro product that is a rack unit? Do you have anymore information on this because I am interested in the idea of it controlling total home automation.
Do you have a version that uses IR flashers that you attach to your device? I guess you will have to place this out in front of your devices? Will it work if set it on top of my devices?
@doogledb We don't have any means to attach IR emitters to the current model, but this may be something we do in the future. Often it will work on top of your devices, but it depends on the room - IR light needs to have something to bounce off and return back to your equipment.
Hey redeye, Couple of questions... #1 is the dock shipping with iPhone 4 adaptors?
#2 will this work for my remote repeater? I have all my equipment in the basement and the TV in the family room and I ran a repeater down to control all the devices. It's IR just like the devices. Thanks!
We don't have iPhone 4 adapters yet - waiting for Apple to give us the specs on these - but you can use Apple's (white) adapters in the dock, as we use the same design for the receptacle.
Yes, we do have many customers using RedEye with IR repeaters, so you shouldn't have any problems there.
I assume the Red Eye doesn't support Wireless N networks yet. I presume that will be the next upgrade in time for iPhone 4g? Is this device ever coming to the UK? It would be cool!
We'll be looking into Wireless N, but it's a complete redesign, so this is not forthcoming right now. In the meantime, we do ship to the UK today - free shipping on orders over $150.
@ammsa7 Normally, no - RedEye controls your equipment using infrared signals, which require a straight line of sight between the RedEye unit and the equipment you want to control. However, there are infrared repeater systems which send those signals over a wire, so you could install one of these to send the signals upstairs to your TV.
The iPhone app for the mini is the same, so they are similar. However, the mini plugs into the phone so you will have to point your phone at the devices you want to control. Also, settings are not automatically synchronized across different iPhone/iPod touch devices as they are with a RedEye on the Wi-Fi network.
You are correct - by default, the Bose Lifestyle systems do use RF. However, there is a menu setting that allows you to switch to infrared. We have the infrared codes for the Bose Lifestyle systems in our database, as well, and have several customers using them with RedEye.
This looks great! Will it be responsive enough to pause/freeze frame my PVR, just like the original remote or my Logitech Harmony, or is there a slight delay over WiFi?
The RedEye hardware unit actually stores the configuration information and shares it out to any iPhone or iPod touch that you connect to it, so you dno't have to do anything special to transfer the information over.
Your Onkyo receiver should work with the learning feature. However, we also have codes for Onkyo receivers in our database, so you shouldn't have to deal with the learning function.
If my wife and I both have iphones, can we use either iphone along with the same base station? I don't suppose we can share room/device configurations?
I have an Onkyo receiver that our main remote refuses to learn for some reason even though it theoretically should be learnable. I thought I recall something about it relating to two different types of infrared such as red and blue. Not quite sure. Do you foresee any problems with that?
why are there no unicorns or houseboys involved in this video. THIS ISN'T REDEYE.

do you have to buy this set or can you just get the app?

The iPhone doesn't have the capability to send out infrared signals on its own, so you have to buy the hardware too.

There is delay associated with Wi-Fi, but I think you'll find it compares well to other remotes in terms of responsiveness.

Does it require a separate transmitter for every device, I need it for my speakers and TV.
thelegendarypaki 2 years ago
The RedEye base station can control any device to which it has "line of sight" - so it can control all the equipment in one room, for example.

I can't find your site. Im from Italy. Is it possible to buy from Italy too? and what's the price? thanks!
