Dahab is like an ahour or an hour an a half from Sharm (100 kilos). The Blue hole is 40 minutes from Dahab. There is also Wady Gonai if you like diving its near dahab only 15 min. from Dahab. Abu Galoom is 12 kilos from the Blue Hole but you have to go on foot or by camel no cars can enter. Its a small paradise in the middle of the mountains. Enjoy

Thanks a lot for your answer. I was aware it was an AIDA approved record, so I was sure there was no foul play going on. Just wanted clarification on the matter, as I am not not very familiar with the rulebook.

I don't know much about AIDA rules, but in all other freediving record videos I've seen, the diver takes a tag from the bottom and it doesn't seem like Martin grabs one here. Also, is that rope grab legal that he does as he starts his ascent at the bottom? I'd be happy if someone could enlighten me in these rules questions.

Tug on the rope when reversing direction is legal, and video proof of depth plate touching is legal as well. That event was AIDA sanctioned and carefully reviewed before WR was made official.
