I've always liked the bluesy, jazzy instrumental break that begins at 2:24. Makes me wonder what they could have done with some jazz tunes or if they had played with some accomplished jazz sidemen. Lennon professed to hate jazz, so that's probably why, in all their musical explorations, they never got into jazz.
@DCAreaguy2001 Are you serious? You actually believe that shit? They got some guy who looked, sounded, and played like Paul McCartney to replace him in a matter of days? And, who did this? Maybe the aliens that caused the accident that killed "the real" Paul felt bad about it and did up a quick clone of him.
Reading some of you guys comments... I can help but to think how late so many people was to the Classic ,haunting ,yet time Album Abbey Road was and still is. I bought the (wax) Album as soon as I heard this cut on the radio. Then and There I known it will stand the test of time. You guys as SOOO LATE
im shaking now from intoxication.. i hope it come soon...deathe tkaes me like a thief in the night...tkae me but sooth me pleasse....shasking now im fucked!!! i cant htink of any better band to kill myself too....................shes so heavy
Classic tune. I love that sound of harrison/lennon switching from bridge to neck pickup like at 3:43. They turned a normally unwanted sound into part of the melody.
I can honestly say I've never heard this song before, but listening to the bluesy sound and the heavy guitar riffs, I think I can see where Black Sabbath got some of their inspiration from.
Would have loved to have gone to college and written an essay on Abbey Road, or Sgt Pepper, had I not been temporarily side-tracked by a damned war! Ha ha! Back then, there was a draft, so I enlisted. Deduced I'd go anyway. Became a personnel specialist. Still had to duck a few times though. Ha ha.
@61849jim You're fortunate to be around to type about it. You can still go to college and write an essay on Abbey Road. Baby Boomers have no respect for age! We'll just do what we want! Maybe Paul McCartney will become an English teacher when he finishes touring next year. That's almost what he did! Could explain the great poetry!
Shucks, you ain't heard nutton' yet. Got some deep stuff, that is rather cathartic to me when I read it back to myself after a year or 2. A man really doesn't know himself until he writes about himself. Contracted cancer from that Agent Orange crap. They caught it early, so I'll outlive that, I think, but have to much to do to go back to school. Have a lot of music in my head, heart, and soul to get down. Have a sister in Bakersfield or Taft? Somewhere out in there, along with herr family
Was saying about my sis. Went to school with her husband, my age. He did 3 tours in Iraq. Was still in reserve. Ballsy guy, I must say. Didn't seem that way back then. English class, oddly enough had only partial impact on my music. Mr. Clark was the ball coach, as well as math teacher. Turns out math has as much to do with music as English!(Mrs. Rapp). (Great English teacher name, huh?) Then for the political stuff: History, which bored me back then. History Ch. and PBS cured me of stigma.
You couldn't know what an impact it had unless you were there. In 1963 when I first heard the Beatles, I had very little interest in music. 3 months later I was playing in a band! Have been ever since with a short hiatus for Vietnam. Didn't realize how much John was against the war and on my side til I got back! You're cut off in a war zone to any negativity against the war. Of course, I was 19 and didn't know the difference at the time. Got an education very quickly after I got home!
Get high...and just listen...

McCartney's bass on this has to be at least a 10, he didn't even want to play bass before joining up with Lennon to make The Beatles.

Heard this today on a high school radio station, and wondered why you never hear it on regular radio! what a great song.
