Paris was not founded on the "Île de la Cité". ;-) Nothing was found there by archeologists before the Romans (50 BC). At Bercy (east side of Paris), archeologists found a neolithic village (4500 BC - cf pirogues de Bercy). On the west side (Nanterre), archeos found the gallic village.

@RealEros1 Mont-Saint-Michel, Rouen, Angers, Amiens (the most beautiful cathedral), Fontainebleau, Provins, Nancy, Strasbourg, Dijon, etc, even small villages are gorgeous. Check "les plus beaux villages de France" its a national label for the most beautiful French villages.

I have been to Paris a few times also and agree that it is a great walking city. If you want to loose weight live in Paris a month and walk everywhere. The city just draws you outside to explore... the whole of France actually.

En effet moi aussi j'ai entendu ceci, comme quoi la France avait repris à son compte l'histoire de Rome, mais ça n'a jamais été vraiment vérifié, donc désolée je ne sais pas trop ^^

This is a very nice video, but it could have been sooo much better without the written history blocking the picture. BTW, that wasn't the Sorbonne, it was l'Institute de France.

Today the word Sorbonne no longer refers to the University of Paris but to the historical building located in the Latin Quarter in the 5th arrondissement of Paris.  And this is the building in the Latin Quarter captured in my video.

One of the most famous building close to La Sorbonne is the Cluny Middle Age National Museum. Very beautiful museum also.

You can see the Lady with the unicorn tapesry and much more treasure from the middle age in Europe.

Next time in Paris don't miss this museum...
