  • Do you deliveries to the Uk and how much is this in pounds? this is brilliant

  • Does the computer processor has any affect to how laggy the game will turn out or is it mainly the graphic card that determine how smooth the game will be?

  • @MakeleleToulalan i think the minimum requirements is a dualcore cpu and 1.5gb of ram. not completely sure though.

you need a beefy laptop to power this thing, no doubt.

  • would it work with a inspiron n5110 ,if not what could i do to make it work?

  • do you have to attach a monitor to it?

  • Comment removed

  • i have an xfx radeon hd 5770 would i be able to put it in a vi dock?

  • I like how you did a comparison. nice job!

  • Does it run on a 34 or a 54mm slot?

  • @jh3496 34mm slot, I have a Toshiba satellite core duo 2 with 3 GB of RAM and use the Vidock 2 with an ATI 500 MB graphic card, playing Stracraft 2, Far Cry 2 and Fallout New Vegas run great. nice product.

  • @joseluisnewyork Nice man ^^.

  • @jh3496 It's a 34, but is compatible with both.

  • isn´t possible to play on the notebook LCD?

  • i am so buying this lol

  • So can The Vidock actually GIVE the laptop more graphics processing power on its own, or does it have to be routed to another display to use the new Graphics?

  • Ive got three questions about this thing that i cant seem to find the answers to..

#1 how do you plug this in? what connection do i need on my laptop

#2 if i wanted to change the graphics card inside, would it be possible?

#3 is it possible to get just the casing and not the card with it?

  • I've got an Inspiron 1545,

Could I just use this, instead of the Intel Family graphics card that's already build in?

  • @FourtySevenFiftyOne I have the same model. Im pretty sure since the specs in this video are lower than ours, it can work.

  • @FourtySevenFiftyOne Oh and the intel family graphics CHIPSET sucks. I tried to play Dead Space and It was just awful.

  • do you have to have a second monitor?

  • how much? and where i can buyit?

  • I Don't have any express card slots on my laptops!!! what do i do!

  • Perfect,but big flaw.

    Using external monitor.

  • @lanxerzz

I dont think of it as a flaw as you can hook it into a tv instead of a monitor with an adapter and that's just awesome

  • 0:00-0:44 enjoy the slidshow XD

  • This is so pointless. So I have to pay for the setup, for the card, and for the monitor? Why not just start building a desktop for cheap on newegg? There's nothing to justify spending this much on this stuff but not a desktop...

  • Kinda sucks for me. I have an Dell Inspiron E1505, ViDock is not compatible with my laptop.

What really hurts, my E1505 is one of the 3 laptops ViDock doesnt work on. Guess it just wasn't my lucky day when i bought it.

    :(

  • @Xantexhunter what were the other 2? i have an inspiron 1545. that work?

  • lol mate just talk

  • So your laptop has to have an express card slot? Is there any other port that can be used? Sorry if these are stupid questions.

  • That is badass

  • and friend of mine wants to play ff14 online with me with at the least minimum specs..

ive been looking around and does anybody think this setup is possible?

    core duo 2.6ghz

    4gb ddr3 ram

    vidock with a hd 5770

and the most important part mac running windows xp 32bit

would there be any slow down or performance issues that not directly tied to the actual games graphical settings?

  • So how does it work?,Can it just be used on a simple laptob, enhancing the graphics,Or is it mutch more complecated and can only br used through a labtop?

  • what kind of port does it plug into

  • can i use an ex grahics card with a laptop only,i mean like since i have a crappy built in gpu can i use the ex for my laptop gaming on the laptop monitor?

  • if my computer doesnt have a expresscard slot could the usb to expresscard adapter work the same way? or would it be a decrease in performance? or not at all?

  • @hilldog39 No, because there's no other port on a computer that can stream that much data through.

  • do i have to have an external monitor to use this?

  • I'm curious how well this works with other games. And also how the laptops hardware (processor and ram) will eventually bottleneck game performance. Even in desktops, you can buy a top-of-the-line 300 dollar video card but you're not going to get squat out of it if you dont have a decent processor to run with it.

  • jajajjaja buena

  • I need this. The slightest bit lag in a game annoys me.

  • it seems you can only use it with an external monitor, but you can use it without one?

  • Is a Laptop's PCI-E drive rated at x1 or x4?

  • I love the vidock 2, i havent got it yet but i plan on too with the HD 5000 series card for 349. if i cant afford it, i hope i can at least get the one for 199. but i dont know if my HD 4850 will work in it. does anyone know if it will? =)

  • This looks awesome, but with the cheapest one (that has a card included) being $350 (with the added cost of an external monitor if you don't already have one), you might as well just buy a console at that point.

  • Question, If i use this, will my computer use the ViDock GPU ALONG WITH the one in my laptop like in ATI cross fire? or will it basically replace my onboard graphics card?

  • Vidock is epically awesome.

VERY affordable too, and WAY better than ASUS'S supposed External GFX which has an INSANE price tag of over $700.

Shame many people aren't even aware of Vidock's existence.

  • i hope the vidock3 ( which i highly doubt there will be one seeing how not very many people are even aware of this things existence) has support for graphics cards with external power requirements. otherwise this thing is amazing and i ordered one. PS, its kinda hard trying to find a retailer for this thing

  • do you need to have a external monitor or you can run it on the laptop?

  • Its just a freaking cutscene how about some actual gameplay.

  • Where can u buy this in the UK?

  • Can I just use ATI 4890 with its external power connected to additonal PSU?

  • @Slameagle It would be a fairly hard technical challenge to do so, but there have been a few users who have done similar setups.

  • @bubabobob Why it is a hard work? I wish to know this because I don't have it right now. If size matters, I could cut some piece of it. Or is external PSU causing some problem?

  • are there anything cheaper than the vidock 2?

  • @raditya91 The closest thing to the ViDock is a Magma expansion box that goes for upwards of $800 USD.

  • @bubabobob he said cheaper you moron

  • @bubabobob you can buy a p for $800

  • there's a DIY version that some genius came up with, it's cheaper and will give you the same performance, possibly better depending on your configuration...... youtube won't let me post the URL to the forum where I found it though.....

  • Is there going to be an update to this so we can use the longer graphics cards now?

  • i just wanted to now how much does it cost a thing like that and does it only give the pc more graphics or does it give it more ram and does it have a extra HDD

  • @mothekiller1 The reseller of ViDock 2 in the US (HarmonicInversion) has recently dropped their price to $199 USD. Essentially ViDock is a PCI Express chassis so you wouldn't want to run RAM through it, but you could hook an external HD to it via the USB port that it provides.

  • I have Windows 7 Ultimate by the way

  • Does the Vidock work with both Nvidia and ATI or just ATI? Also, do you need an external monitor for this to work, and does your motherboard matter? This seems like a good solution for me, due to the fact that I cannot get a new desktop for quite some time due to price.

  • @Overdosage Yes, they sell it with an HD4670 or without, you can add any card that doesn't need a PCIe power connector, right now the best card that you can fit in hte box is the HD5670, but you might be able to get a 9800GT Green to work, but would likely have to cut on the case as the card is likely too long to fit in the box otherwise.

  • ohh i forgot its also 32vit is this gonna work for that

  • and also i have this DELL INSPIRON 1525 {INTEL} just got upgraded to windows7 is this vidock2 will work for me?please reply

    thanks

  • is this a fix video card inside? or i need to buy one video so this thing can work..do they have the video card of this at best buy? i read about this it said comes with an ATi Radeon™ HD 4670 w/512MB DDR3 graphics card pre-installed. is this means that it has already a grapic card inside? and you can change that what ever graphic card you like?

  • Do you need an external monitor with the ViDock2

  • Yes, right now the accelerated graphics can only show up on the external monitor hooked up to the external graphics card in the ViDock.

  • Is it possible to work on Window Vista 64 bit Ultimate service pack 1?

  • It is, if both video cards use the vendor, i.e. both are ATI. This is a limitation of Vista that no longer exists in Windows 7.

  • @bubabobob do you have to put a graphics card into the vidock, or is the vidock a graohics card itself?

  • @shawnlux02 One reseller in the US (HarmonicInversion) sells the card bundled with a 5670, but you can put any supported card in there.

  • @bubabobob okay, thank you.

  • @bubabobob so i can put any gpu that fits in there like the 5770 for example and it will work???

  • What ATI Driver are you using? What Windows 7 version? Any other third party software used? Settings? Thanks!

  • This demo was made using the 7100 build of Windows 7 Ultimate (aka RC1) and the ATI driver that was available during that time. Tests with the 7600 build of Win 7 and the latest 9.12 drivers are ongoing but don't seem to be show much differences. No other 3rd party software was installed except of course Devil May Cry.

  • Thanks for this!

  • It would probably be helpful if you could provide a detailed specification of the system you are using. You have not said anything about softwares used. Purely hardware, brand and model only. Please publish complete details. Thanks! One more thing, one guy asked on this page, does this box only work when connected to an external monitor? Doesn't it have work around to use the laptops monitor. Is it just still not capable yet? I know it's PCI-Express x1 with 2 way lanes. Thanks again!

  • The ViDock can only accelerate the video of the display plugged it's plugged into. Accelerating the built in display is something very much desired but requires support from the graphic chip vendors.

  • Thanks! Too bad it ain't possible yet.

  • would his work with a usb express card slot

  • No, a USB to ExpressCard adaptor would probably not work, VillageTronic does sell a USB display adaptor however that might meet your needs.

  • I'm going to guess and say using it via express slot you can't use the connected video card to it's full extent but alot of it.

  • can you tell me where to buy this dock?

  • You can find sales information on the villagetronic website.

  • Oh, and also, do you absolutely have to have another monitor ?

  • Will one of these work with my HP G70 laptop?

    It has:

3GB RAM,2ggHz core 2 duo processor, Windows Vista, and an Nvidia GeForce 9200M GE.

    Thanks :)

  • It appears that the HP G70 does not have an ExpressCard slot which is required for the ViDock to work.

  • @bubabobob

    Okay, thanks :)

  • USD $293.00

  • how much do these video card boxes cost?

  • also can you tell me please does the vidock2-blank allow you to use your Nvidia and ATI cards desktop sized cards?

Can you only put 1 desktop sized card in?

Can you stack them say if you want to do SLI, crossfire?

Sorry for all the questions but I really hope you can please answer them all

    Many, many thanks in advance

    Can

  • who makes the vidock2?

Can I use this with a mini itx atom cell motherboard powered by nvidia ion gpu with a N230 (single core) or N330 (dual core) 1.6ghz with 4GB ram. With a express card slot built on the motherboard???

I was thinking even with a acer expire revo N230 or N330 if I can get it with an express card slot?

    Many thanks in advance

  • If you have an ExpressCard slot the ViDock should work.

  • Oh no! Just read the info at the link you posted - says it's not compatible with an Intel Graphics card which is what's inside my computer. So the hunt is still on - but at least there's hope.

  • my laptop has Intel graphics chip. You mean it not work for me either :( ?

  • @ cjellwood: that's right...i've been looking & researching. they had a Vidock that you could add an external graphics card/chip to, one of your own choice. But I don't find that one available anymore. Plus I think it was also not compatible with Intel integrated (but I'm nor certain). Depending on why you want to use this a video card emulator might help you. Gamers know about these and they can probably help you.

  • The ViDock 2 will work with an internal Intel GPU if you're running Windows 7, which really you want to do anyway.

  • Thanks! This raises my interest more. I'm thinking about the G45 chipset as my platform. Hope it works natively on Win 7. I don't to get stuck with an unusable equipment when the time comes that I upgrade from the G45. If I can wait till the mobile i5's arrive so I can base my judgement from there. Thanks again!

  • Awesome! I was considering upgrading, thanks!!

  • I knew I'd find an answer if I kept looking. Close call c/o I saw, via Google, that this kind of tech is fairly new. I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop. An external graphics card seems to be my only option right now. Unless I go out and buy a new computer. Not a gamer but 3-D worlds and possible business incomes are calling. I have to upgrade the video card situation somehow just to access the software I've installed! Thanks for uploading this!

  • Can this work on the laptop alone, or do you HAVE to use a monitor?

  • You have to use a monitor with it

  • hmm, considering that its plugged into the express slot, im thinking that it works with both

but the main thing is that they had thought of this for multiple displays, thus its plugged into a tv

  • Does the VIDOCK come with a good card or do you have to buy one?

Also I have an EXPRESS 54 slot is that okay?

  • It's available with or without a 4670 pre-installed.

  • where do you plug it into on your laptop

  • It plugs into the ExpressCard slot of your laptop. This is the standard that replaced cardbus several years ago and is fairly standard on today's consumer laptops. Usually you can tell if yours is ExpressCard compatible by looking for an EX logo near the card slot of your laptop.

  • I've got an express card 54, it's that compatible

  • Yes, express card 54 works with the smaller version too.

  • well all i need is the ViDock because i have a old monitor from my old PC i can use :)

also wondering. Do they send cards from the US to UK because i live in the UK and i was just wondering if i buy one from the US will they be able to send it to the UK

  • Yes, VillageTronic has offices in Europe as well.

  • Yey thank you but do you mind telling me where they are that would be very helpful

    Thanks in Advance

  • the new Zepto 14'' allows you to take out the graphics card yourself. it comes with a 9650 or a 130m and you can take it out.

The technology is called MxM. Its pretty cool that they support it. check it on their website...

  • The ViDock 2 is also very easily user expandable.

  • I will never buy this until it can drive the laptops internal screen. I can't justify spending that amount of money on a device that doesn't give me that option.

  • That will never happen because Laptops rarely, if ever, have an option to directly input video to it's screen.

  • That has already happened with the Fujitsu Amilo External Graphics Booster (by using a special driver) and according to one reseller with very close links to the people who make this Vidock device, they are working on this too.

  • The Amilo Graphics booster is limited to only one current Fujitsu model that is AMD powered, and everyone knows that AMD CPU notebooks don't perform as well as their Intel counterparts (though I still am an AMD man!) plus the module isn't all too portable. I just wish more AMD based laptops had the PCI Xpress cable technology other than one single Fujitsu. Though I must add it can send data back to the laptop monitor, it doesn't have to output to an external monitor to work.

  • do u have to attach it to another monitor? Can you just attach it to your laptop and get the graphics like that???PLZ RESPOND!

  • Right now the answer is it can only accelerate the graphics on the external display.

  • Not really that knowing about all this new stuff, but are external video card (docks or w/e oO) expensive? and do they work properly when inserted in a laptop?

  • Well right now the highest end card you can run in this thing is the Radeon 4670 DDR4 which runs about $70USD and because the card is user replaceable when the next generation card comes out that will fit in the housing, that's the only amount you'll be out. Which when you consider the cost of replacing your whole laptop to get the next gen video card is nothing.

  • But for now it only works when you hook up your laptop to a screen?

  • nice!!

  • sweet, i want this.

  • That's terrific ! Will keep an eye on for more videos ;)
