Hi, I saw your video as a response to my MicroTAC video. I'll try my best to help.
First of all, try the codes 123 and 111 (pressing CLR between the two if the first one doesn't work).
Also, if you know the phone number the phone operated on, it might be the last 3 numbers of that phone number.
If still no avail, do whatever hack you found to unlock it, and as soon as you get it unlocked, press FCN, 1, and then # until you see "AUTO LOCK" on the screen, then press CLR to turn it off.
thanks, i got it unloked, by a "stupid" way (conecting ground to a pin of an internal chip) but the phone died just today :( i was using and just turned off and never come on again, now i want to get other! lol.
Wow! How did you know which pin was which? Too bad it died though - I love Motorola's old cell phones! Could your grounding a pin have done something?
That phone is a MicroTAC DPC 550, the most basic and feature-less MicroTAC made. It was made around 1995-1996. The MicroTAC DPC series were in fact analog phones - Motorola called them "Digital" just to drive sales.
Also, you mention that it is not like a MicroTAC 650/e in that it has an LED display, but the 650/e has an LED display, too!
well, i discover the pin by just trying, i gonna make another video to show what i did, i don't think that the grounding killed it, the phone worked just great.
Well, for what i see This MicroTAC was really popular here (chile) because when i got (flea market) the seller have about 5 or 6 of this phones.
Now i wish i have some international credit card just to get a phone like this or the 650/e on ebay.
Yeah, the DPC series were most popular overseas. How much were the ones at the flea market? I would have gotten all of them! lol!
I think if you make a PayPal account anyway can use ebay.
If you want my opinion, though, the MicroTAC 550 and MicroTAC 650/e are the most boring of the MicroTACs, because they have the "calculator-like" LED displays. The MicroTAC, MicroTAC II, MicroTAC Lite, MicroTAC Ultra-Lite, and MicroTAC Elite have the much cooler-looking dot-matrix LED displays.
How much did they cost? Just because i'm curious. lol
You should take a look at the Wikipedia article titled "Motorola MicroTAC". It has some good info and at the bottom are pictures of different models of MicroTAC, including a size comparison between the first and last MicroTACs!
I contributed a little info to that article, and I hope to add a picture of my 650/e.
i don't remember exactly the price, but was about $1500 CLP, that is like umm.. 3 U.S. dollars.. thinking it more.. i really wish i bought more phones that day! lol
wow, i don't know about that wikipedia article, really cool, thanks.
I've locked mine and I never
