  • "... it was after that that I started getting my night-terrors, and those movies led me into the adult porn genre... " I remembering seeing this film when I was 6 and being very disturbed/sexually aroused by the death scenes in it. But then again, I had been sexually abused earlier, and fear causing arousal is sometimes a symptom of that.

  • @LanceHertford Say what?

  • @JohnsParadise Not kidding. This film used to sexually arouse me when I was a child. I know that's disgusting but, you know, I was fucked up.

  • @JohnsParadise do you have any idea where i could watch the 1988 version online, i cant seem to get the dvd anywhere :(

  • @AG67891 You can check Amazon for the DVD or even Netflix if you have it. I'm not sure where you can find it online for free.

  • @JohnsParadise ok thanks, i'll have a look, none of the shops where i live seem to have heard of it

  • Man, the effects for those death scenes are fantastic, how did they even manage some of that stuff?

  • Great review! The blob almost seems to act as an actual organism maybe like a giant bacteria,or an amoeba. Since it disintegrates anything alive that it comes in contact with. However for a bio-weapon which it is in this version, how come it came in a meteorite like the first film. But then the military later explains it was a biological weapon?

  • @MAXIMUMGODZILLA45 Yeah, the military says it was a bio-weapon created in the heat of the Cold War. The scene where they excavate the meteor shows the upper half of the "meteor" made of rock and the bottom half made of USA produced metal.

  • @JohnsParadise that explains the meteorite but, how did it end up there? It would be interesting if they revealed or if they explained it's purpose it was supposed to do during the cold war. I found it hard to believe it was made in the cold war, but then again there's been numerous sci-fi films that had bio-weapon mutants that were made during the cold war and we're just locked away till somebody was dumb enough to make the mistake and unleash them. Perfect examples, leviathan, piranha,

  • @MAXIMUMGODZILLA45 Well, the Cold War didn't end until '89 and this remake came out in '88 so it was made during the end of the Cold War, probably for years. I'm guessing it's purpose was to biologically attack Russia by releasing the blob into a populated area. Who knows, Maybe it wasn't supposed to be that big but rather a mutated virus on a microscopic level. I assume it landed in that town because of orbital decay, which is what happens to satellites that revolve around our planet.

  • when i was 8 i got scared sh*tless i still dont like the paul scene

  • i think you sound like mike tyson

  • @HorrorMovieReviewGuy He has a problem with S's whereas I have a problem with R's.

  • lol ribbed

  • This is by far one of the most fucked up creations as a monster in horror and i also agree about the ending it was perfect then and it still is i would like to see in the soon future a sequel to this its been 23 and almost going on 24 years since this ingenious take on the blob has been made im very curious to see how they would make this now and days even is it sucks ill still watch it :)

  • The Reverend is friggin' creepy.

  • Kevin, don't eat with your face.

  • the hospital scene scared the hell out of me

  • Hell yeah dude ur talking about Frank Darabont he has worked on The Fly,The Blob,The Mist,Shawshank,Green Mile,Walking Dead, the list goes on!

  • Good review of this one; it's weird to think that the same guy who scripted this movie went on to direct The Shawshank Redemption! I do love in this one the way that the movie in the cinema this time is a very bad slasher movie with the line "Wait; it's not hockey season for months!"

  • you know, video poster guy... you sound an awful lot like Elmer Fudd.... just saiyan

  • @RectalDiscourse Haha! That's a first. Usually people say I sound like I'm from Boston.

  • @JohnsParadise You sound so weird... you have some sort of super lisp.

  • @TheDarklord0211 Accent actually. Some say it's a Bostonian accent.

  • when in doubt, get the flamthrowers...

  • @comedie8 I love chainmail. But their so anooying

  • @pacmangod777 srry im superstitios <.<

  • I just bought THE BLOB 1988 a few days ago at F.Y.E. and it was the first time I saw it in 2 or 3 years. What a fun gory flick!

  • @freddy3911 I love Shawnee Smith.

  • @TheGenesisfan93 I love her too. She is such a hottie.

  • @freddy3911 Honostly, I like her more now then when she was younger. I loved her in Saw 2. I love that fucking hair!

  • cool

  • I watched that film again last night, the last time I saw it I was about 12 and I was amazed by how good the special effects still are , they really did hold the test of time. One of my favourite remake, brilliant!

  • What about the Scarface remake from 1983? not horror but great.

  • What do you think of the original?

  • I adore the original. I have it on VHS and to me it's such a great example of a drive-in classic.

  • @JohnsParadise

What do you think of other horror remakes such as The Thing, The Fly, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, King Kong, Cat People, Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, The Hills Have Eyes, Toolbox Murders, 2001 Maniacs, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween, House on Haunted Hill, Wizard of Gore, Willard, Amityville Horror, Friday The 13th, My Bloody Valentine 3D, Last House on The Left, etc.?

  • The Fly - operatic and moving. simply amazing. IotBS - moody and terrifying King Kong - really well done Dawn of the Dead - realistic and gritty NotLD - pretty good Hills Have Eyes - a brutal gory flick 2001 Maniacs - corny TCM - awful Halloween - terrible House on Haunted Hill - disturbing and good Amityville - creepy F13 - a travesty MBV3D - corny but good Last House - terrible
  • @JohnsParadise

So you thought Last House remake was terrible? you think the original is better? what about Cat People from 1982 ever seen that one? with Malcom Mcdowell.

  • @Johnlindsey289

    The Thing, Good

The Fly, Good Dawn of the Dead, Not even a Romero zombie film BOO

Night of the Living Dead, Good 2001 Maniacs, Cheesy effects

House on Haunted Hill, I miss Steven Price but its still decent, but not great.

rest are bad even I dont wanna rate

  • Great review of a terrific remake

  • @Johnlindsey289 It's the best remake next to THE THING, THE HILLS HAVE EYES and 2001 MANIACS.

  • @freddy3911

What about The Fly? The original Blob didn't have the right technology in the 50's to execute the vision while the remake had improved technology

  • @Johnlindsey289 I haven't watch all of THE FLY yet. I like the effects but I have no verdict yet.
