  • lmao I have that lamp too..very nice work here. Open tunings are definitely fun to play with because almost anything sounds good, just gotta make sure you don't start playing the same thing for every song. Not saying you did, you obviously didn't, it's just really easy to fall into the same patterns lol

  • fantastic and plzz watch my video

  • everything music i like it

  • this reminds me of the scene with the kid from august rush does lap tapping. :)

  • Excellent work! Very intersting technique. Amazing! Karlheinz

  • Doing great man, keep on that shit ;)

  • in the middle you look as if you're wiping your nose, and the same thing happens at 2:56

  • fantastic! I used it for my morning devotion singing to God! easy to put words to! Thank you for sharing. God bless

  • thumb up for u ;)

    /watch?v=ovpqrUGv9Ko

  • Even if this could be played traditionally, the fact that you did it this way makes it unique. Sounds good :)

  • how do you get the sounds amplified like that, especially the harmonics :o

    Nice..

  • clean, interesting, uninspired,:(

  • very impressive, man, you remind me of August Rush :)

  • sound of heart ......

  • this great so cool

  • Awesome!

  • reminds me on Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 =)

  • awesome!!! I think you are prac tising but you know.... i like this sound more than the pros´s!!!! It has a more atmospheric approach! I think the uys who do this tapping thing well do it too well and the feeling gets lost. Good good stuff!

  • very talented man keep strumming....and tapping. I have that same lamp btw

  • @fender35303 Haha EXCELLENT , i don't meet too many people with that guitar lamp.

I have a few of them, one i use, one backup and one maybe 2 to give away as prizes in the near future :)

    STAY TUNED :)

    Jeff

  • @capo420420 I got it too! But the bulb busted :(

  • @TheHaZMaTBand ahh sorry to hear that .. the good news is .. you can replace the bulb.

It has 2 spring loaded wires attached to the metal base. If you pull up slightly on the guitar light you'll see them.

You can bend them in with your fingers and pull the guitar part off.

The bad news is ... you gotta put that same size bulb in there OR .. use a dremel tool to grind off a bit of glass so the bigger bulbs will fit .. ( they get really hot with the big bulbs .. be careful )

    Hope this helps

  • @capo420420 Yeah I got it probably 7 years ago, the "strings" have been worn over the years so there are 4 left, the tuning heads are down to 3 of em, its cracked, and coated in a hefty layer of dust. Not worth it for me lol

  • @TheHaZMaTBand aww .. srry to hear that .. well , if you pre-order my CD or DVD ,

you could WiN one :) .. I have a brand new , in the box , guitar lamp , ready to give away ..

Why ? because my friends n fans .. ROCK !!

    STAY TUNED :) ..

    Jeff

  • very talented, enjoy the music

  • reminds me of the solo of pink floyd's high hopes )

  • very good man ,good sound

  • this is excellent! really enjoyed it. ( =

  • Nice tone and technique, but I don't see anything you couldn't do using trad. techniques (except Pete Townsends' Windmill, of course). Please enlighten me, I am truly curious.

    Thanks!

    Dave

  • haha .. funny about the windmill ..

a lot of the parts can be done traditionally.

The harmonics at the intro are not one of them and the false harmonics between the intro and the main body would be quite difficult without hitting the body of the guitar.

If it's equally difficult to play the body of the song but impossible or extremely difficult to get 10% of the song without changing perspective, it's worth the effort. And who knows where that could lead. maybe to a song of 50% added edge :)

  • I am a player of 50+years now and remeber supporting RoryBuchanan in the early 70's.

He played like styleto me and the boys between drinks!

    'Nice to reminice!

  • no, twins have no identical fingerprints :P

    i've checked that

  • Awesome.

  • yeah...cool job guy!!

  • cool style and sound !

  • This is Guitar Hero 7, not 4... XD

  • that was so awesome! i really really liked it!.

  • Made me smile. :]

  • Tu joues bien. Tu me fait penser à ERIK MONGRAIN!

  • its good, waaay better than i could ever do, but after a while it gets a little monotonous. it'd be way better if he incorporated different chords, but all in all, pretty amazing =]

  • dude u are fukin awsome at playin kool

  • Hammer dulcimers are awesome !:^)>

  • very nice, can u send me the chords? its really nice.

  • great job, man!!

  • That is beautyful.. i only learned to play the guitar a few years ago beacuse my mom told me that the best music is the one played form your heart. and this guy is obviously doing that

  • it's not from the heart. it's from the nuts. way to play from your balls my friend.

  • Haha

  • Formidable, extrat formidable, my god music.

    Amicalement Jacvky

  • This video is simply amazing, had me smiling =]

  • 1: Mako shark can swim like 35-40 mph in short bursts. 2: Sharks do have eyelids.

3: Twins do not have identical fingerprints.

    You play nice guitar

  • Kace,

thanks, and haha .. you passed the "did you read the description test" with flying colors .. ;)

BTW: my wife's maiden name was "Cooley" ( 1964-1994 RIP )

We're distant relatives of sorts.. ;)

    Cheers

    Jeff

  • @KaceCooley My understanding is that identical twins can share organs if necessary (for example, kidney transplant) and that the recepient would not have to take anti-rejection medicine because he wouldn't reject the organ because their genetic makeup (DNA) is the same. Why wouldn't their fingerprints be the same?

  • Hey Jeff cheers for the comments on my videos, i am very happy with them and they did a great job, are you posting any more soon?

    Cheers, Tony Haven

  • Tony,

I recently bought broadcast quality video camera's , Mac G5 8 core, & switched from iMovieHD to FCP. The camera's & Final Cut Studio have a huge learning curve but i'm working on it .. haha

Just getting 1920 x 1080 vids compressed to youtube specs was a challenge.

I'm also applying for an Arts & Science Counsel Grant which requires my project to start Jan 2010 ( ugh )

*** I will be posting some Artist Endorsement vids for 2 guitar companies soon .. STAY TUNED 4 info :)

    Cheers

    Jeff

  • FCStudio is awesome!!! Consider using imovie 09 for YouTube though. Way way way way way easy and simple. It does not do a ton but it is optimized for uploading to YouTube, just thought I'd toss that out there

  • Kace, I did some great video's with iMovieHD and the only thing it lacked was the ability to have more than one video or audio track in the timeline. I've been using Digitial Performer for "years" and i've become quite accustomed to timeline editing. I'm sure Apple didn't expand the functionality of iMovie HD so it wouldn't compete with FCS.

Since i record audio & video seperately , the ability to "visually" sync the video audio to the studio audio is a necessity.

    Thanks for your comment

    Jeff

  • imovie hd is quite good for just coming with the computer and u can do mutiple video clips and multiple audio clips in 1, but digital performer is better definitely im starting to use it as well.

  • EVERYONE : Check out my friend Tony Haven .. cool guy .. great guitarist .. Great Lap Tapping video's too ..

  • Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhhh!!!!!!

    This is really really good!!!

    PERFECT

  • well put it in drope D n play have immagination

  • I don't think drop d is inventive enough....all it does is loweer the E a full step...perhaps your referring to DADGAD? is which case that is formally called Dsus open tuning

  • nice well done btw i have the same guiter (skyline) but in blue :D

  • holy crap this just blew my mind.

  • could everybody tell me how can me make our guitar sound like that!!??? pls. reply.. anybody..

  • yes you use open tunings - look up guys like Michael Hedges, Andy McKee (who was inspired by Hedges). I can't tell you what tuning, but if you look around on the web using their names you can find out.

  • change ur tuning !! open tune

  • I SO would like to know that eiter...i dont get that?!

  • are you using an open tuning here? Just curious...

  • Yes .. this is open C ..

I have a FREE Guitar Tuner with all the open tunings you could ever want ( standard tuning too haha )

Just click the banner on my main page to go to my website.

    Jeff

  • you are so good with that...

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow you play this song same with hendrix you the best guitariste in you tube 10000000000star for you

  • haha ive done that a couple tries :D

im still on my way ;D

  • I'm glad not everyone thinks like you; this world would be a boring place.

  • Awesome :D

  • ... wow im amazed :) that was awesome

  • Cool stuff.

  • Dude that's so tight. Like you have noo clue. I needa learn. Good job man.

  • will it not work as well if my guitar has not got amplification?

and these strings pretty old, still ok to learn on them??

  • Yes, it's better with amplification but it can certainly be done.

Old strings shouldnt' matter either ..

    Best of Luck ..

    Cheers

    Jeff

  • what kind of strings do you use to get such a bright response when you tap the harmonics

  • i'm just using phosphor bronze med gauge steel strings.

The harmonics are achieved by hitting the string very hard BUT at the same time pulling back quickly too..

It's kind of like a "whip" motion .. if the string touches the fret it's too hard.

    Hope this helps ..

  • thanks man...keep it up your great

  • good stuff man. Ill take it that this is an original?

  • yes .. and i'm working on new stuff that's SuPeR CooL now for my upcoming CD / DVD ..

    STAY TUNED ..

    Cheers

    Jeff

  • yo, this is amazing stuff =D

  • this kind of reminds me of that video where the armless dude played guitar with his feet.

    so rad. :)

  • fantastic playing!!

  • As a guitarist i always look for new weird and wonderful ways to make good tunes.... after watching August rush ive always been amazed at how he played, and buddy you just blew my mind. well done 5 stars.

  • more like keyboard hero

  • Amazing!!!! Great job!!!

  • Aweosme playing

  • WOW that was awesome! You are as good as Eric Mongraine and Trace Bundy brother!

  • very nice:] and great song.. i really like this

  • Great song and awsome skills. I was wondering if you had tabs for that song?

  • Sorry no tabs at the moment .. I plan on making a DVD instructional for some of my tunes .. right now i'm working on the new CD and preparing for some live perfomances ..

STAY TUNED .. i'll keep everyone updated on the progress of the DVD / CD ..

    Cheers

    Jeff

  • I like this! very M Hedges :)

    YOU ROCK ..

    Cheers

    Jeff

  • that was amazing.

Tuner i've made available for all my friends and fans.

Its the tuner i use most often too :)

Just google "acoustic guitar tapping" to find my website quickly

    Cheers

    Jeff

  • Do you play the lap steel or whatever it's called? I have one, it's basically played just like how you're playing the guitar. It has a pretty cool sound :).

  • No i've never had a steel guitar to mess around with .. but i'd love to have one. David Gilmore and Jimmy Paige used them with great results.

Good Question .. thanks for asking

    Cheers

    Jeff

  • Great stuff mate.

  • how fast can a shark swim ? pretty damn fast :]

do sharks have eyelids ? yes

do twins have identical fingerprints ? no

  • love the sound. one question how can you play guitar that way

  • OMG what are you doin with guitar???

I prefer normal way of play. but still it is original

  • thats what i thought

  • great sill there and played wonderfully. great job man

  • "Acoustic guitar - fingerstyle"

... what's regular guitar if not fingerstyle..?

  • Think he meant tapping :)

  • "fingerstyle" means playing it like a piano. as in... on ur lap on having ur guitar leying down in front of you in some way.

i think... not 100% sure, but pretty dang close.

also, COULD mean tapping. but the guy who made the song seems to know enough about guitar to not make that mistake.

  • fingerstyle isnt such a specific term. People such as antoine dufour, and andy mckee are considered fingerstyle. Its practically what it says...its having a style of music specific to fingerpicking. playing the bass with your thumb and the melody with your fingers... also called "boom chick" by tommy emmanuel.

  • see, i always just thought that was "fingerpicking" =P

lol. whatever it is, im pretty sure it would make sense to call this song 'fingerstyle'. u agree? probz. but i defs heard that some people understand it to mean what this guy [jeff] is doing. and that is playing the guitar like a piano. but hey, that's just a few people ive heard it from.

  • yeah this is fingerstyle Id guess...most people call it "airtapping"

  • u r awesome!

  • is it weired that i play guitar right handed

but when i play on my lap i have to play left?

  • what tuning would you recomend playing for this method

  • I use open C a lot ..

Go to my website for a FREE Online guitar tuner with just about every open tuning under the sun ..

    Best of Luck

    Jeff

  • good playing, but you couldve played this song without layin guitar flat methinks, or even tapping much.

  • It might appear that it could be played without laying it flat but i doubt it .. the intro would definitely be impossible any other way .. some of it could be played normally .. but it wasn't written that way ..

It would be interesting to see someone play it another way ..

If i could be done ..

your welcome to try it ..

    Good Luck ..

    Jeff

  • Awesome!!!!!

    :)

  • Pretty cool Jeff

  • exelent!!!

and you do know how to play that good, its called hours upon end of practising every day.

  • I love it!

  • You play guitar so well. And You are a natural. You have natural unique talent for guitar and you express it in your own way. I think I have a knack for pulling something random out of my mind and playing something I have never heeard before, but I have not yet learned a whole lot about guitar so I am going to continue to play and learn and hopefully i will get somewhere in life. You are a huge influence on my playing. Keep posting. don't stop.

    Hayden

great guitarist .. really nice guy ..

i think i'll go revisit his channel since you mentioned him ..

    thanks again

    jeff

  • is that a j45 you're playing?

  • Try this experiment: Close your eyes and just listen. Is it beautiful music? Would you listen to this driving your car? Would you play this while having lunch? I personally don't care if the guitar is upside down, downside up or flipped sideways, what really matters is the music, and this is quite basic stuff. There is little emotional content on this piece of music. Jeff, you should concentrate more on your musicality and less on techniques that looks good.

  • I like it.

  • try this,,,,would you play the same scales and chords and techniques that more than 1 millon guitar players already play???? music is about finding what feels right and good to your ears, whatever makes you feel good to express yourself with the talents and experiments you find while you experiment with music intruments, you doctoroctava are part of the millon and millon of music players i see everyday ,,Jeff is 1 in a millon!look for new sounds ,do not play what others already have played!

  • Fuzzyboy1976 .. You hit the nail on the head .. exactly .. the music more or less writes itself .. i'm just part of the puzzle haha ..

thanks .. glad you enjoyed the music ..

    jeff

  • Cool!

  • incredible

  • Rofl funny

  • Awesome! I love playing this kind of stuff (or at least trying my best at imitating it!!)

  • wOw... this is freaking amazing only wish I could articulate better how much I love this.
