  • youre the man

  • @reformationband1 Thanks!

  • Thanks!

  • You're cool ass dude

  • Best i have heard of this song. nice job

  • @ItsTheSperminator Thank you sir!

  • THANK YOU for disentanging this for me!

  • Thank you! That saved me a lot of work. When I started listening to figure it out, I couldn't even tell what were guitar chukkas and what was keyboard, except for the main melody of the riff. I watched him play it and he was just flying. This really helped me out! Hey, what's the name of the patch you're using? Closest thing I could find on my Triton was some clavicle hybrid.

  • @aleatharhea Oh, the patch has already been answered. Thanks, downthestret!

  • OMG It Sound so Perfect GOOD

  • @litahardyjeff wow. Thanks man!

  • cheers man

  • Dude, this is awesome!

  • @supremedudeman Thanks man.

  • Eb minor, not Eb major.

  • That really is something... It's going to take me a while to get that right hand down but this sure will help

  • The instrument is called a "Clavi" Thumbs up so everyone can know.

  • please make the slow version of what you're doin on 0:40 so cool!

  • very nice!!

  • That's one punchy clav patch you got there!

  • fantastic.. what does this sound effect called ?

  • what are the actual notes you're playing with your right? it is hard to see

  • Thankyou for that you are good but ive managed to get all the notes but it doesnt seem like the bit where you sped it up it was the same as what you did slowly with your finger and i cant get the right hand bit right

  • .... o.O Wait whu..? You didn't rlly play what you taught at the end... Like near the end of the intro (not the high quick parts)

  • thanks so much

  • wait.. Superstition and Very Superstition are didfferent songs?

  • thx man this vid really helped me play superstition

  • Romance me with that funk! Thanks for the video!

  • @druvak Absolutely:)

  • that was great thanks alot ive been struddleing abit :P

  • @grooveymonkey69 Very welcome!

  • This us an amazing video. Great help!

  • You are a professional....Best 1:30 seconds of this song i heard on youtube.

You know what you doing sir.

  • Great, man ! it is many video on the net about this great song but You are one of the best : pretty close, forget about darkness, this is it and it helps !

    Thank You

    Luc

  • @saluluc Thank you Luc!

  • dat is sum FUNKAYYYY sheeeit!!!

  • If one is in Eb Major than the G# should be called Ab..therefore the black keys in Eb are called/named Eb, Gb, Ab, Bb, Db and Eb....PLEASE pretty PLEASE.. light up the keyboard and have the CAM at an angle so all fingers/keys can be seen...like the piano guy who does the I don't like Monday...maybe you should consider a revision ..because U R very close to the record, have the groove and HAVE the funk..OVERALL thanks for putting it up!!!!!

  • thanks for helping us out.

Video is a bit dark, though!

  • God bless you for yor kindness! I wish I had a camera to record another video...

  • Awesome! Next time can you play the song the way you do it first? I just think that would help people see you play awesome faster.

  • dude, you got the funk!

  • can you number the black keys and tell me what they are?

  • I'm not sure if I understand you correctly.

So I'll try my best to help.

    Here are the notes:

G#, Bb, C#, Eb then Eb an octave lower. Find the set of black keys that has 3 keys, start on the middle note, and work your way up playing every black key.

Does that help? Let me know if I can help in any way. God bless!

  • alright thanks!

  • It's there on my page. It's called "Superstition"

    God bless!

  • I was just wondering because it looks cool

  • Cool! I'll try it this weekend at home. Thanx!

  • That is the best I have heard so far. It sounds like Stevie himself. You really got that song down.

  • Man, you made my day! God bless you for your kindness.

  • what piano is that

  • That is a "Radio Shack" brand synth. I got it because it has a cool cp80 sound. I think it cost about 3 or 4 hundred. I actually bought it twice because the first one I had got stolen from my living room.

  • Ye that hep. Great litte lesson thanks

  • you need to change your camera settings this is WAAAYYYY too bright

  • Man this is fantastic, can you give me the sheet music? Or the chords for it. Would help me so much.

  • This is by far the best demonstration of how to play this riff in its original key of E flat minor. It also shows you've gotta get into the groove to make it sound really funky. Thanks for a great video.

  • Too bright

  • Hola podrias por favor decime las notas?

    muchas gracias!!

  • Thank you for this video but I was having trouble seeing it

  • oh yeah man, it really helped a lot. now i can jam along with it. thanks a lottttttttttttttttttt

  • great tutorial man! i can play this now :)

  • I loved your lesson! But I get lost at the funky part with both hands... I don't wanna ask but, like, if you happen to have some spare time, would you pleeease consider giving us another lesson? And I really appreciate what you've already done... God Bless!!!

  • heyy nice tutorial, you inspired me to do my own, brotha. check mine out, i rated urs 5/5.

  • thanks man

  • Yeah! I like this video helped me!

  • God bless you!

  • I waited 20 years for this! thanks man!

  • Glad to help.

  • you should have more lighting next time, it was kinda hard to see the notes you were playing. but this was an A+ video Thanks :D

  • thanks alot man for showing us :)

  • I have the same keyboard. What effect thing are you using in this video?

  • Hi turlteguy, I always use the onboard compression. It makes it sound that much more like a real clavinet. I think I also used to use the "comp/delay" effect too.... I can't remember for sure... it's been a long time since I had that synth. It does have cool built-in effects, though. You can adjust and customize all the parameters to suit your own personal taste.

    God bless!

  • it really doesn't matter

all that's being played is on black keys

it can be in either key really

  • It can be played in any key as long as it is a minor key. Minor sounds very different from major. Stevie wonder plays it in e-flat minor (or d-sharp minor, enharmonically), but since Stevie doesn't actually write his own notation, it's usually transcribed for instrumentalists in e-flat minor.

  • yah i know major and minor sound different

but it's just played on black keys

it could be in algorian diminished 7th scale

    and it still wouldnt matter

  • I think it's in Db major

  • No, it's e-flat minor, the relative minor of F# major.

  • what do you play with your other hand?

  • its because hes black.......everyone knows black people can play bass in anything LOL

  • Good one, man!

The right hand does little cords of either

Bb C# D# or C# D#F# . I am probably miles off from the original, but it's about as close as I can figure.

  • Comment removed

  • LOL yeah ...... thx man .............and it sounds really close to the original man so dont sweat it....... you did a great job figuring it out so others dont have to

  • wat?

  • The key is e-flat minor, not E-flat.

  • omg dude thanks

I'm the keyboardist for my school band

and I needed to learn this part :3

  • wWoOwW

    UR SIIIIIIIIIKKKKKK

ii realli like stevie wonder cause of jb nw

    are these notes right ?

    (all in sharp)

    G B C D D C D F C C D G A C D F G A C D D

    X

  • g a c d d(lower) d c d f c d g a c d f g a c d

  • dude make a video of you playing the song...would be pretty cool

  • Hey there, Blues, I got one. Just have a look on my channel. God bless.

  • excuse me, but can i get the letter notes for that???

  • Hey lets get some light in there, don't you think?

  • I heard the original on the radio today in the car and I thought I had it figured out, came home and found a good midi and read the notes then I searched here and found your vid now I've spend the whole night getting my funk on. Love your tips man, just what I needed. I see you got a WK3700 too, that's funny cause I was trying to read your preset when I noticed it was the same, I get so caught up in the B3 sounds I forget how good the clavi is. Cheers.

  • Nice tutorial, very clear. Also played with a lot of style and rhythm, nice work :)

  • Thank you Jonboy!

  • could someone please message me what voice you are supposed to set your keyboard too?

  • Look for "clav" "clavi" "clavinet" or

"waw clav" if you don't have anything like that, try an electric guitar voice or,

    worst-case-scenario, harpsicord.

    Good luck, man.

  • wow thanks - the index finger was a really good idea... all the other videos i watched i bould hardly see what they were playin

  • Thank You Thank You you helped me solve my right hand problem.

  • dude you rock! all these pianists post awesome videos with no explanation of how to play it....but you're so nice and talented! ^^ thank you so much for sharing! God bless ya! ;) keep on rocking!

  • Thanks a million, bro!

God bless you for your kindness.:)

  • Your'e a legend. Trying to decipher the right hand part and then coordinate with the left hand seemed near impossible until I discovered this. Great explanation, great playing.

  • Thank you, brownsize79. You are a delight.

  • Turntapzap, just had to comment again. Man, you've got this down! The technical aspects are absolutely spot-on, and the funk 'feel' is sweet and natural. You either have it or you don't - and you've got it for real.

  • Hey there, cliffkast, you made my year, man! A nice comment from you is like winning the lottery to me. Because you ARE Stevie Wonder.

( I seriously cannot tell the differnce between you two most of the time.)

    God bless you, man.

  • STOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPP...the real superstition has more that 4 tracks of clavi.....so just stop ok? :) but nice job though. For anybody that has to play that live?...this is the tut...peace

  • Cheers dude, nice playing. Playing the main riff in the left hand is the trick!

    Sam :0)

  • Thanks, man.

  • Great!! This was a simple explanation for a very cool riff. Thank you!

  • this was friggin awesome!!

  • That's cool dude, thanks !!

  • Thanks for this it really helped me figure out a riff that one personcan play! The original has three clavinets layered up which is impossible for one person to play of course, and all the sheets I found on the net were over simplified, this vid provided me with a good basis that I can use live on stage and not feel like theres too much depth missing. Once you get your bassist playing too it really thickens up.

    Awesome - Thanks a million.

  • Thank you so much for your kindness.

  • Hey if you get the chance you should play this a bit slower. It is real good it just isn't cut up enough.

  • I could have sworn this was in E natural.

  • That's what guitarists try and convince everyone of;) The funk is all in the black keys, baby!

  • if your playing in Eb its really an Ab not a G#...

  • Thanks, Membrillo. I stand corrected.

  • Great! You could also try:

    g, Bb, Db, Eb, Gb

    in the right hand

  • That's sweet! I just tried that. What a wicked chord. Thanks for the pointer.

  • great

     job

  • You are very good at instructional videos. I like it!

  • Very good , but can you show better the right hand as you play with the left, maybe a bit slower thank's

  • Please could you do another video thats a bit brighter?

  • where I can find the partiture ? I don't understand very good how you play but it sound amazing .

sorry with my englis I am espanish

  • Gacias para su palabras amable.

  • this was really helpfull

  • This was very helpful, but do you think maybe you could turn the lights on next time? That would make it a bit easier.

  • yeahh! awesome!! nice to see it played right! you got the funk goin on! awesome!

  • Seriously, Thank You!

  • Thank you for the nice comment.

  • In terms of technique, this is about the closest to the way Stevie plays it - which is probably the highest compliment I could pay you! - especially that left hand doing most of the primary riff with the right catching the syncopated stuff. Well done!

  • I like the grace notes you are playing, and the right hand lick is wicked sweet.

  • Thanks man.

  • Yes it really helps me, I'll try that way... thank you dude

  • Thanks for your comments - those who have given your video a bad rating obviously have no idea how to play - i did mine in d (i.e. i cheated) coz it's easier - most vocalists and guitarists like it in e

  • Yours is amazing. I cannot believe how you can play the whole thing with only your right hand! Plus, I absolutely love what your doing on top of it with your left hand. You nailed all the subtle nuances perfectly, and you have a kind heart.

  • thank you so much for making this video it's really not easy to work out but you've got the sound and the feel just right. I'm forwarding this to my keyboardist! Thanks again
